Black Rabbit Rose is a cocktail bar with a small magic theatre at the back, made by the Houston brothers, Mark and Jonnie, whose company, Houston Hospitality, runs it. It opened in February 2017, Time Out and The Hollywood Reporter reported at the time, and it sits on North Hudson Avenue, a few steps off Hollywood Boulevard, in the Hillview Building, which the venue says was once owned by Charlie Chaplin. The ticketed show is called The Magic Hour: a trio of magicians from a rotating cast performs a fast 55-minute show of funny tricks, puzzling illusions and feats, the venue says, in a room of red velvet curtains, chandeliers and candlelit tables.
The evening starts in the bar. The venue asks you to arrive 30 minutes before the show for seating and cocktail service, and says the show can start up to 15 minutes after the time on the ticket so that everyone has a drink in hand. On Fridays and Saturdays the bar opens at 18:00 for dinner and drinks, first come, first served, and the theatre doors open 15 minutes before each show. The kitchen serves Thai-Chinese dishes from Crying Tiger, the take-out window next door, the venue's lounge page says; Fever notes that no food is served during the show, and drinks and food are paid for separately.
The show runs on Thursdays at 20:30, Fridays at 20:00 and 21:30 and Saturdays at 19:30 and 21:30, Fever says. It is 21 and over, with ID, and both Fever and the venue ask for smart dress: Fever says upscale attire is strongly encouraged, and the venue's booking page asks for cocktail and evening attire. After the show the bar carries on: the venue lists late-night bottle service from 22:30, Tuesday to Saturday.
On 30 October 2026 Fever had sessions on sale from 5 November 2026 to 17 April 2027, at one price, 69.50 dollars, with no booking fee added.
Why this one
This is Hollywood's magic night you can simply book. It held 4.7 from 1,627 reviews on Fever on 30 October 2026, and the reviews keep coming back to the same things: magicians with different specialities who play well off each other, the old Hollywood room, and good drinks and service around the show. It is also on the doorstep of The Hollywood Roosevelt, a 12-minute walk or 2 minutes by taxi, and 8 minutes by taxi from Sunset Tower Hotel, The Garland and Silver Lake Pool & Inn.
The obvious rival is The Magic Castle, the members' clubhouse on Franklin Avenue a short drive away. It is a private club: guests must be invited by or come with a member, its site says, and its dress code is strictly enforced. Black Rabbit Rose needs no connections, only a ticket, which is why it is the one we would book for a first visit.
On price, booking direct is cheaper. The venue's own booking page, on SevenRooms, listed general admission on 30 October 2026 at 40 dollars on Thursdays, 45 for the 20:00 Friday show and 55 for the 21:30 Friday and Saturday shows, with VIP seats at 50 to 69.99 dollars plus a set gratuity. Fever sells one ticket at 69.50 dollars for every session and does not say which seats it gives. Fever's listing is the simpler buy and sits alongside your other Fever tickets; if price matters most, book the venue direct.
For an earlier, gentler evening, our page on Candlelight concerts covers the string-quartet tributes in Koreatown, downtown at the Biltmore and in Burbank, from 29.16 dollars. A Candlelight show at Immanuel Presbyterian at 18:15 and a 21:30 magic show here, 12 minutes apart by taxi, make one night out.
