Madeira airport lounges

Madeira Airport has one terminal and one lounge that any passenger can buy their way into: the ANA Lounge, run by the airport operator, on Floor 3 after security, in the middle of the shopping area. It has 40 seats, and it shares them with business-class and top-tier flyers on a dozen airlines. Here is who gets in, when it opens, what you get and how to make sure there is a seat for you.

The short answer

There is one choice: the ANA Lounge, after security on Floor 3, open from 07:00 to 22:00 by ANA's own page. Any passenger can pay to use it, booked online through ANA or at the reception desk at the door, and it is free or discounted for business-class passengers and members of the clubs of its associated airlines, including TAP, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Swiss and Azores Airlines, and for DragonPass cardholders. With only 40 seats, book ahead for a long wait; Priority Pass lists no lounge at Madeira.

ANA Lounge

Airside, after security, on Floor 3 in the middle of the shopping area. One lounge for every flight, Schengen and non-Schengen

Open to all passengers on payment of ANA's fee, booked online through ANA or at the reception desk at the lounge entrance; ANA publishes the price only in its booking tool, so check it there. Children over 3 pay. Free or discounted for passengers of ANA's associated airlines and members of listed clubs: Air Nostrum and Iberia, airBaltic, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Condor, Discover, Edelweiss, Eurowings Discover, Luxair, Marabu, SATA and Azores Airlines, Swiss and TAP. DragonPass is accepted. TAP admits its business-class passengers, Miles&Go Gold and Navigator cardholders and Star Alliance Gold members, but not Miles&Go Silver; Azores Airlines admits SATA Imagine Goldsky members and Comfort Class passengers. Entry from 3 hours 30 minutes before the boarding time on your boarding pass; maximum stay 3 hours from entry. Priority Pass lists no lounge at Madeira

Hours: 07:00 to 22:00 (ANA, July 2026; Azores Airlines gives these hours from 3 July 2026, and TAP for March to October); 06:00 to 21:00 before that. ANA may close it on 24 and 25 December

  • View from the lounge
  • Coffee and tea
  • Assorted snacks
  • Alcoholic and soft drinks, with up to three alcoholic drinks included per visit
  • Free wi-fi, exclusive to the lounge
  • International TV channels
  • Flight information screens
  • Configured for passengers with reduced mobility, including wheelchair users
  • Pets allowed in their travel containers

A small, quiet room with snacks, drinks, free wi-fi and a view, in the right place for every gate. Worth it for an hour or more, as long as you book ahead: 40 seats go quickly when a few flights board at once.

Best for A long wait before a UK or mainland flight, anyone on TAP business or with Star Alliance Gold, and DragonPass members.

Is the ANA Lounge worth it?

It is worth it when you have an hour or more and a seat is free. ANA lays on coffee and tea, assorted snacks, alcoholic and soft drinks, with up to three alcoholic drinks included per visit, free wi-fi kept for lounge guests, international TV and flight screens, all in a room with a view. Once you are in, the chair is yours for up to three hours, away from the gate seating.

What it is not is a dining room. ANA promises snacks rather than a hot buffet, so on a long wait the restaurants on the same floor are the better meal: Clocks has a terrace over the runway and Bites & Beer looks out to sea. The lounge works best as the quiet hour before boarding rather than the whole afternoon.

ANA publishes the walk-in price only inside its booking tool, not on its pages, so compare it there with what a meal and a couple of drinks outside would cost you. Children over 3 pay; under-3s go in free.

With an airline ticket, status or a lounge card

ANA names 14 associated airlines whose passengers get in free or at a member discount, depending on fare and club: Air Nostrum and Iberia, airBaltic, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Condor, Discover, Edelweiss, Eurowings Discover, Luxair, Marabu, SATA and Azores Airlines, Swiss and TAP. The airline sets who qualifies, so check your fare or tier with it.

TAP's own list is the clearest. Business-class passengers, Miles&Go Gold and Navigator cardholders and Star Alliance Gold members are admitted at Funchal; Miles&Go Silver is not. Azores Airlines admits SATA Imagine Goldsky members and Comfort Class passengers.

Of the lounge membership cards, ANA accepts DragonPass. Priority Pass lists no lounge at Madeira, so a Priority Pass card on its own will not get you in; buy a pass from ANA instead.

Opening hours, and the early and late flights

ANA's page gave 07:00 to 22:00 in July 2026, and Azores Airlines says those hours started on 3 July 2026; before that the lounge opened from 06:00 to 21:00. TAP gives 07:00 to 22:00 for March to October, which suggests the winter timetable may differ, so check the hours shown in ANA's booking tool for your date. ANA's rules also allow for closure on 24 and 25 December.

The practical upshot: on a flight leaving before about 07:30 the lounge is not much use, and a late evening flight may find it closing as you board. Entry opens 3 hours 30 minutes before the boarding time printed on your boarding pass, and the stay ends 3 hours after you walk in.

For a busy morning, ANA's Fast Lane gives a dedicated channel through security on Floor 3, on the left at boarding control. ANA sells it online and in its app, airlines can add it to a booking, and children up to 2 go through free with an adult who has a pass.

The CIP lounges: Europa and Atlântico

Madeira also has two CIP (Commercial Important Person) lounges for passengers who travel with ANA's personalised assistance. The Europa Lounge is on the arrivals side, a private room to wait in while your bags come off; the Atlântico Lounge is for departures, with a view, TV, computers, internet and a bar and snack service, and a 3-hour maximum stay. They are part of a personalised assistance service rather than a walk-in lounge, and ANA publishes no price or hours for them, so ask the airport directly if you want it.

When the lounge is full, and without one

With 40 seats, it can be. ANA's own announcement said access is subject to availability, and its rules let it limit services and hours at any time. Booking online through ANA before you fly is the surest way in.

Without the lounge, the departures floor has the best seats in the building anyway. Clocks, a lounge-style restaurant, has a terrace over the runway; Bites & Beer by Coral looks out to sea; Café Saudade serves Madeiran specialities and Cockpit pours drinks with tapas. Check the screens for your gate: the lounge relies on them too, and ANA's rules put the onus on you to watch your boarding time.
