Naples airport to the Amalfi Coast: every way, timed and priced

The Amalfi Coast has no airport of its own, so every arrival ends with a drive round the bay and over the mountains, a boat, or a train and a boat. Our ten hotels run from Positano in the west to Minori in the east, and from Naples airport they are about 60 to 90 minutes by road. Below is every realistic way to each of them, with the operators' own times and prices.

The short answer

From Naples airport, a licensed taxi at the City of Naples' fixed fare is the simplest way: €145 to Positano, €155 to Amalfi and €160 to Ravello per car, tolls extra, and our routing puts the ten hotels 62 to 76 minutes away with the roads clear. From April to early November the hydrofoil from Molo Beverello is the scenic way, and all year the train to Salerno and the Travelmar ferry is the cheap one. Naples airport is closed from 1 to 30 November 2026, so check the airport code on your booking.

  • NAPNaples (NAP). Naples International, at Capodichino on the northern edge of the city: most flights to the coast, fixed-fare taxis at the rank in front of arrivals, and the Alibus to the station and the port. Closed every night from 22:30 to 03:30, and from 1 to 30 November 2026.
  • QSRSalerno Costa d'Amalfi (QSR). The small airport at Pontecagnano, run by the same company as Naples, with few flights; in November 2026 it takes some of Naples' flights. The closest airport to Minori, Amalfi, Ravello and Scala, 37 to 47 minutes by road.

Every way in, timed and priced

Taxi at the fixed fare

NAP
Time
62 to 76 minutes to our ten hotels with the roads clear, by our routing; longer in summer traffic
Price
City of Naples fixed fares per car: €145 to Positano, €155 to Amalfi, €160 to Ravello, €125 to Sorrento, €24 to Molo Beverello. Luggage, night, holiday and airport supplements included; motorway tolls extra, and €5 for a minivan (more than four passengers, or on request)

The easy answer for two or more with luggage. Ask for the fixed fare (tariffa predeterminata) before the car moves: the driver cannot refuse it and must give you a receipt showing it before you set off. Praiano, Conca dei Marini, Minori and Scala have no published fixed fare, so agree the price first.

Private transfer booked ahead

The driver tracks your flight, meets you in arrivals with a name sign and knows each hotel's drop-off. Our pick for the four hotels with no fixed taxi fare, for late landings and for families with cases.

Alibus to Molo Beverello, then the hydrofoil

Alibus about 15 minutes to Napoli Centrale; Italo 36 minutes to Salerno; Travelmar from the quay by Salerno station to Minori in 40 minutes, Amalfi 35, Positano 70
Price
Alibus €5; Italo from €8.90; Travelmar €10 to Minori, €12 to Amalfi, €17 to Positano, €3 a bag

Salerno Airlink to the station, then the Travelmar ferry

QSR
Time
Airlink about 30 minutes to Salerno station; ferry to Minori 40 minutes, Amalfi 35, Positano 70
Price
Airlink €8, from the driver at no extra cost, with one bag up to 55 x 40 x 20 cm included and €5 for each extra or larger bag; Travelmar €10 to €17

The good way from Salerno airport to the eastern half of the coast. There is no SITA bus from the airport itself, so go via the station.

From the airport to our ten hotels

Taxi fares from Naples airport, town by town

The City of Naples sets fixed fares per car from the airport, and they include luggage, night, Sunday and holiday supplements and the airport supplement. Motorway tolls are extra, as is €5 for a minivan when you are more than four or ask for one. Taxis for trips out of the city wait in their own lane next to the Pick-Up car park, a short walk from arrivals.

Ask for the fixed fare before the car moves. The driver cannot refuse it, and must give you a receipt showing the route and the price before you set off. For towns without a published fixed fare (Praiano, Conca dei Marini, Minori and Scala), agree the price at the rank or book a driver at a fixed price instead.

Positano: Le Sirenuse, Palazzo Murat, Il San Pietro
€145 fixed; 73 to 75 min
Amalfi: Hotel Marina Riviera, Borgo Santandrea
€155 fixed; 68 to 69 min
Ravello: Caruso
€160 fixed; 73 min
Praiano, Conca dei Marini, Minori, Scala
No published fixed fare; 62 to 76 min
Molo Beverello, for the hydrofoils
€24 fixed
Extras
Motorway tolls; €5 minivan supplement

By hydrofoil from Molo Beverello

From April to early November, yes. Take the Alibus from arrivals to Molo Beverello, about 35 minutes for €5, or a €24 fixed-fare taxi, then a fast boat from the Beverello terminal. NLG sails to Positano for €32 and Amalfi for €32.50, from 08:35 until mid-afternoon, with luggage at €5 a piece; some sailings change boats at Capri. Positano Jet's spring and autumn timetable has two direct sailings a day to Positano, about 70 minutes, for €31.

It is the arrival people remember, but it needs a morning landing, and Positano's pier is a climb from every hotel in town: about 10 minutes up to Le Sirenuse.

By train and ferry via Salerno, all year

Not to the coast itself, but the train to Salerno and the ferry beyond work all year. The Alibus reaches Napoli Centrale in about 15 minutes; Italo runs ten fast trains a day to Salerno in 36 minutes from €8.90, and Trenitalia's Frecciarossa also calls. From the Travelmar quay at Piazza della Concordia, by Salerno station, ferries reach Minori in 40 minutes for €10, Amalfi in 35 for €12 and Positano in 70 for €17, with a bag at €3.

Flying into Salerno airport, the Airlink bus reaches the same station in about 30 minutes for €8, with one small bag included and €5 for a suitcase. There is no SITA bus from the airport to the coast, so go via the station.

Napoli Centrale to Salerno
Italo, 36 min, from €8.90
Salerno to Minori / Amalfi / Positano
40 / 35 / 70 min; €10 / €12 / €17
Salerno airport to Salerno station
Airlink, about 30 min, €8

Landing late, or with children and luggage

By car. The hydrofoils stop in mid-afternoon and the last Curreri coach to Sorrento leaves at 19:30, so an evening landing means a taxi or a driver. The fixed fares include the night supplement, so the price does not change after dark.

A driver booked ahead follows your flight, so a delay costs nothing, and waits in arrivals with your name. With children and cases, or for Ravello, Scala and the cliff hotels where the drop-off point matters, that is the easy start. Naples taxis carry pushchairs and wheelchairs free.

November 2026: Naples is closed

Yes. GESAC closes Naples airport from 1 to 30 November 2026 to rebuild the runway, and some flights move to Salerno Costa d'Amalfi (QSR), so check the airport code on your booking. From Salerno airport the coast is close: 37 minutes by road to Minori and 40 to Amalfi, or the Airlink and the Travelmar ferry. A bus also links Salerno airport with Piazza Garibaldi in Naples, eight a day each way for €12, paid on board by card. Most of our ten close for the winter by then, so check your hotel's dates too.

Going back to the airport

Early. Check-in opens two hours before European flights and three hours before intercontinental ones, and Curreri tells passengers on its Sorrento coach to leave at least five hours before the flight in summer. Give a taxi or driver a similar margin from Positano or Amalfi. The terminal is closed from 22:30 to 03:30, so for a dawn flight there is no waiting inside overnight.
