Which room to book at Sea Containers London

The Riverview Deluxe Room. It is the cheapest category the hotel sells above the water, 32 square metres with a king bed and floor-to-ceiling glass, and it is the same floor area as the Riverview Studio Suite three rungs up at 200 pounds a night more. Everything below it faces the city.

Why this one

The ladder has one line through it and it is the river. The hotel's own website files six categories as city view, from the 29 square metre Standard to the 59 square metre One Bedroom Suite, and five as river view, plus the Riverview Studio Suite and the Cabin Suites whose river outlook is stated on their own pages. The Riverview Deluxe is where the river starts, at 369 pounds a night on the prepaid Plan Ahead rate for 9 to 11 February 2027 against 269 for a Standard, and it comes with a king bed rather than a queen and 32 square metres rather than 29. The Riverview Studio Suite three rungs up is the same 32 square metres for 569, with a shower and no bath, so its 200 pound premium buys Jacu Strauss's 2026 interiors and the word suite. Below the pick, the Studio at 329 is the best-value room for space, 40 to 50 square metres with a bath, but it faces the city.

Above the pick the ladder stops being about the view and becomes about floor area and inclusions. The 59 square metre suites cluster between 619 and 669, and only one of the four, the Riverview One Bedroom, faces the water; the Balcony Suite at 719 is the only category for two with private outdoor space over the river, and the hotel also sells it joined to a Deluxe Double Double as a Family Riverview Balcony Suite from 1,019. The four Cabin Suites at 869 to 929 are 55 square metres, smaller than the 59 square metre One Bedroom suites below them, and what you pay for is the antiques, the champagne breakfast, parking, Curzon tickets and the 1pm check-out. On the same February dates a Suite Dreams rate with buffet breakfast undercut Plan Ahead on every suite, 557 for the Riverview Studio Suite, 692 for the Balcony Suite and 781 for the Edwardian Cabin, so on a suite check both before you pay.

Ask for
The hotel publishes no floor for the Riverview Deluxe, so there is no floor to name; only the Cabin Suites carry one, the Edwardian and Mid-Century on the top floor and the Dynasty on the fifteenth. Ask for a high room if you want Blackfriars Bridge and St Paul's in the frame rather than the walkway, and say at booking that the river is the reason for the stay. Ask for a room away from the lifts, because guests report thin walls, and if you are two people who both want a bath, the Riverview Deluxe has a shower only; the bath starts at the Studio on the city side or the One Bedroom suites on the river side.
Avoid
Anything the hotel calls city view if the Thames is why you chose this hotel: Standard, Superior, Superior Double Double, Superior Patio, Studio and the One Bedroom Suite. Do not pay the Riverview Studio Suite premium expecting more room, because it is the same 32 square metres as the Deluxe, and do not book a Cabin Suite for space, because the 59 square metre One Bedroom suites below it are bigger. The Family Rooms are interconnecting pairs and priced as two rooms, which is fair, but check the two-room total before assuming the Family Room is a saving.

Suites against rooms

Two stand out. The Riverview Balcony Suite is the only category for two with private outdoor space over the water, 65 square metres with a private balcony, a freestanding bath and a rainfall shower, at 719 pounds in February and 829 in April on Plan Ahead, or 692 with breakfast on Suite Dreams. If a balcony over the Thames is the point of London, the only other way to get one is the same suite sold with a Deluxe Double Double attached as a Family Riverview Balcony Suite, from 1,019 pounds in February; the Patio Suite and Patio Room face the city.

The other is the Thames Apartment, 112 square metres with a kitchenette and a dining table for eight at 849 pounds in February. It is one bedroom, so it sleeps two properly with rollaways on request, and it costs less than any Cabin Suite while being twice the size. The Cabin Suites are the design set piece, four of them at 55 square metres with antiques chosen by Jacu Strauss, and the inclusions are real: champagne breakfast, parking with an EV charger, Curzon tickets from Friday to Sunday and a 1pm check-out. They are for two adults only.

Our verdict

This is the choice for dinner, drinks and a film under one roof if you accept that there is no pool and pay up for the river side. Book the Riverview Deluxe and the building does the rest.
