What we looked for

Of these four, the two-star kitchen is in a former town hall in Bethnal Green, the steak is carved in the old bank manager's office at Bank, the cocktail bar is on the Thames Path and the Mexican cooking is on a tenth floor above Euston Road. Each is a table or a bar worth booking for itself, with a bed in the same building.

What decides it is the calendar. Two of these kitchens keep a short week and London's Sunday is quieter than visitors expect, so fix the nights around the kitchen, then book the table before the room. Choose Town Hall Hotel for a tasting menu, The Ned for seven restaurants under one roof, Sea Containers London for cocktails by the river, and The Standard, London for dinner with a view.

Town Hall Hotel

Bethnal Green, London

Da Terra opened on the ground floor of the old town hall in January 2019. Rafael Cagali's kitchen took its first Michelin star within eight months and its second in 2021, and holds both in the 2026 guide. The cooking is Brazilian and Italian at once: a tasting menu at 275 pounds, a shorter one at 190 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, a three-course lunch at 110, and pairings at 160. Allow three hours.

Upstairs, Cagali's Restaurant Elis is the relaxed version, sharing plates and a short wine list in a bright room of about a dozen tables, named for the singer Elis Regina and for his mother's São Paulo restaurant. For a drink, Silk Weaver is opposite Da Terra, and Satan's Whiskers, a classic cocktail bar with a menu that changes daily, is a three-minute walk. Da Terra serves dinner Wednesday to Saturday, so book the table first and build the stay around it.

The Ned

City of London, London

The Ned is the choice when you want a different dinner every night without going outside. Seven kitchens share Lutyens's banking hall and the floor beneath it: Millie's Lounge for British plates and afternoon tea beside the bank's walnut counters, Cecconi's for Italian until midnight most nights, Malibu Kitchen, Kaia, Electric Bar & Diner, and The Parlour, with jazz and cabaret over dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. Lutyens Grill, in the old bank manager's office, is the quiet room: wood panelling, trolley service and rare-breed beef aged 45 days, and it stands at No. 35 on the 2026 World's 101 Best Steak Restaurants.

Nickel Bar runs from morning drinks into the early hours, with live music on The Nickel Stage and no booking needed. Breakfast in the banking hall starts at 6am on weekdays.

Sea Containers London

South Bank, London

Lyaness is the reason a cocktail lover books this hotel. Ryan Chetiyawardana's bar was the first to receive a 3 PIN award from The Pinnacle Guide, and its menu is built around ingredients the team makes itself, with staff who are good at explaining them. It looks out on the Thames and St Paul's, opens at 5pm Monday to Thursday, 4pm on Friday and 1pm at weekends, and runs to 1am on Friday and Saturday.

Beside it, Gordon Ramsay at Sea Containers took over the hotel's riverside dining room on 1 September 2026: British cooking with a seafood lean, Shetland mussels, Cornish cod and Devon crab beside the Beef Wellington, and a River Terrace along the water with Blackfriars Bridge and St Paul's to the east. 12th Knot is the bar on the roof, and Curzon Sea Containers screens films from Friday to Sunday, so on a Friday or Saturday the whole evening stays in the building.

Decimo is on the tenth floor, and you reach it by a red lift running up the outside of the building. Paola Arenas now runs the kitchen, and since Peter Sanchez-Iglesias left in spring 2026 she has turned it fully Mexican: masa, aguachiles and cooking over live fire. Decimo is in the Michelin Guide's 2026 selection, and its windows face the St Pancras clock tower on the far side of Euston Road. It serves lunch from Wednesday to Saturday and stays open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Sweeties shares the tenth floor, a cocktail bar and discotheque with a marble bar and a DJ, and The Rooftop on the eleventh floor opens seasonally, from about April. At street level, Isla is a wine bar and Double Standard a diner-pub. Decimo opens from Tuesday to Saturday, so put at least one of your nights inside those days.

Questions people ask

Good questions about London

Which London hotels have a Michelin-starred restaurant?

Among our ten, Town Hall Hotel. Da Terra, on its ground floor in Bethnal Green, holds two Michelin stars in the 2026 guide, under chef Rafael Cagali. The Michelin Guide also carries Decimo, on the tenth floor of The Standard, London, in its 2026 selection, without a star. For a steak rather than a tasting menu, Lutyens Grill at The Ned is No. 35 on the 2026 World's 101 Best Steak Restaurants.

What days is Da Terra open?

Dinner runs Wednesday to Saturday and lunch Thursday to Saturday. The shorter tasting menu is served on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, and the three-course set lunch on the three lunch days. Da Terra recommends no children under eight and cannot cater for vegan or dairy-free diets. On the other nights, Restaurant Elis upstairs serves dinner from Monday to Saturday, and Silk Weaver, opposite Da Terra, pours cocktails from Wednesday to Sunday.

Is breakfast included at these London hotels?

Check whether your rate includes it, and eat in either way. Millie's Lounge serves breakfast in The Ned's banking hall from 6am on weekdays and 7am at weekends. Gordon Ramsay at Sea Containers serves it from 7am beside the river, Isla at The Standard, London from 7am, and Restaurant Elis at Town Hall Hotel from 7am, where a suite with a kitchen is the other option.

Which London hotel bars are worth booking?

Lyaness at Sea Containers London, Ryan Chetiyawardana's bar and the first to receive a 3 PIN award from The Pinnacle Guide; it takes walk-ins, but book for a window table. At The Standard, London, Sweeties on the tenth floor is a cocktail bar and discotheque from Wednesday to Saturday, for over-18s. Nickel Bar at The Ned runs from morning into the early hours, with live music and no booking. At Town Hall Hotel, Silk Weaver is opposite Da Terra, and Satan's Whiskers is a three-minute walk.

Which London hotel restaurants are open on a Sunday?

At The Ned, Lutyens Grill carves its unlimited 45-day-aged prime rib on Sundays, with roast trimmings. Gordon Ramsay at Sea Containers serves a Sunday roast and then dinner until 9pm, with Lyaness open from 1pm. At Town Hall Hotel, Sunday is breakfast and then cocktails at Silk Weaver from 17:00, and Decimo at The Standard, London is closed on Sundays and Mondays, so put those two hotels on the nights from Tuesday to Saturday.

How did you choose these hotels?

Independently, through extensive research, trusted sources and first-hand visits. Hotels cannot pay to be included, and every one of the ten has to exist for a different reason.
