Eitch Borromini Palazzo Pamphilj: Piazza Navona from the terraceThe all-rounder

Eitch Borromini Palazzo Pamphilj

Twenty-one rooms inside the Collegio Innocenziano, the building Borromini began for Innocent X, with a fourth-floor terrace over Bernini's fountain on Piazza Navona. Seventeenth-century frescoes are in some Deluxe Suites and the one Luxury Suite, not throughout.

€€From about €195 a night

Choose Eitch Borromini Palazzo Pamphilj if

  • Architecture lovers
  • First Rome trip
  • Short city breaks
  • Baroque interiors
  • Couples

The catch

Most rooms look at the cloister or the side lanes, not the square. The hotel's own site says so, and only the categories sold as City View face Piazza Navona. A midweek January 2027 night ran about 460 euros for a Deluxe Suite and about 730 for the Deluxe Suite with View, before city tax, and the two are not the same room, since the view category is sold in a larger size band.

Donna Camilla Savelli: Borromini's unfinished front on Via GaribaldiThe insider one

Donna Camilla Savelli

Ninety-four rooms in the monastery Borromini began in 1642 for Camilla Virginia Savelli, entered through his own unfinished facade, with the first and second floor cells re-adapted as the Deluxe rooms.

€€From about €220 a night

Choose Donna Camilla Savelli if

  • Baroque architecture
  • Quiet in Trastevere
  • Second Rome trip
  • Garden breakfasts
  • Longer stays

The catch

The hotel's own rooms page says room assignment is random in the Executive, Deluxe and Chiostro Prestige categories, which is the middle of the ladder. The room in the photographs is not the room you are promised.

Questions people ask

Good questions about Eitch Borromini Palazzo Pamphilj vs Donna Camilla Savelli

Eitch Borromini Palazzo Pamphilj or Donna Camilla Savelli?

Two Borromini buildings at close to the same rate. Eitch Borromini Palazzo Pamphilj for a first trip, with breakfast above Bernini's fountain and Piazza Navona around the corner; Donna Camilla Savelli for a second, with a cloister garden, a residential street after dark and Trastevere down the hill.

Is Eitch Borromini Palazzo Pamphilj worth it?

Book it to be inside the building: the Collegio Innocenziano, Borromini's spiral stair and the terrace above the fountain, at a four-star rate in the middle of the centro storico. Pay up for a Deluxe Suite and ask for one of the frescoed ones, take a room off the third floor, and eat breakfast upstairs. Almost all of this is the building: twenty-one rooms in the Collegio Innocenziano that Borromini began, a cloister, his spiral staircase and frescoed ceilings in some of the suites, two minutes from Piazza Navona and priced as a four-star. There is no pool, no spa and no gym, and the restaurant and rooftop are shared with the city rather than kept for guests.

Does Eitch Borromini Palazzo Pamphilj have a pool or a beach?

There is no pool. There is no beach; the nearest is a drive away.

Is Donna Camilla Savelli worth it?

Book it for the building: the monastery Borromini began in 1642, its facade, cloister and garden still there and the church still working next door, at four-star money in a city that charges far more for far less. Take a Deluxe Room, the one category the hotel itself says was converted from the cells, ask for the garden side, and eat in Trastevere. The case rests entirely on the building: a 1642 convent with its cloister, citrus garden, stone staircase and church still standing, kept quiet behind a wall on the Gianicolo slope. It is far bigger than the rest of this edit at ninety-four rooms, and far cheaper, and there is no spa, no pool and no gym to spend the difference on.

Does Donna Camilla Savelli have a pool or a beach?

There is no pool. There is no beach; the nearest is a drive away.
