Where to eat at and around Silver Lake Pool & Inn
The hotel's own table is Marco Polo, a coastal Italian trattoria and bar on the patio below the pool deck, serving breakfast, weekday lunch, happy hour and dinner, with brunch at weekends. Los Angeles is a driving city, but this stretch of Silver Lake is not: Sunset Junction is four minutes' walk, and seven places are within ten, from a Thai vegetarian kitchen to a French bistro and a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand Taiwanese counter. There is no tasting-menu room on foot; for one of those you will want a car or a taxi.

Our verdict
Book it as an Eastside base: the Deluxe King View, a quiet-room request and Sunset Junction on foot. Come between November and Christmas, when midweek rooms are at their lowest and the pool deck is quiet.
