Why this one
Savoy Palace sells four rooms and five suites, and the four rooms are close in size: the Avenue, Ocean and Superior Ocean Rooms are all 41 m², and the Garden Room 47 m², each with a sitting area, a walk-in shower and a king-size bed or twins. What changes is the outlook. The Avenue Room's balcony faces Avenida do Infante and the city, the Garden Room's faces the gardens and the pools, and the Ocean Room's faces the Atlantic. For one night on Tuesday 8 June 2027, with breakfast, the four ran from €494 to €554 for two, €20 apart.
The Superior Ocean Room is the one to book because the last €20 buys the two things that change a stay here: a terrace instead of a balcony, with wide views over the ocean and the city, and a double bathroom. It is the room for a couple who will spend the mornings outside over the bay. If a balcony over the sea is enough, the Ocean Room saves the €20. Above the rooms, the Ocean Junior Suite adds 16 m² and room for a family of four, and the suites run to the 110 m² Two Bedroom Family Suite.
- Ask for
- Ask for a king-size bed or twins when you book; the hotel treats it as a request, subject to availability. A child of 2 to 12 can share the Superior Ocean Room on an extra bed at €35 a night, and under-twos stay free; the room takes no third adult, so a family with a child over 12 needs a suite, where an extra bed is €70 a night.
- Avoid
- The Avenue Room if you came for the sea: its balcony faces the main avenue and the city. The Garden Room is the largest of the four rooms, at 47 m², but it looks over the gardens and pools rather than the bay.
Suites against rooms
Five suites start at 57 m². The Ocean Junior Suite has a sea-view balcony and sleeps three adults or a family of four. The Bay Suite, about 66 m², has a lounge with a dining area and a terrace along its whole length over the bay. The Ocean Suite, about 77 m², has a balcony, a lounge with a dining area and in some a bath as well as a shower, with views of the ocean, the city or both; the Superior Ocean Suite is smaller, about 66 m², but has a terrace and views of both. The Two Bedroom Family Suite, about 110 m², adds a kitchenette and sleeps up to five adults.

Our verdict
A big, polished city resort with a rooftop pool for adults and a spa of real size, a walk from the old centre of Funchal. Check availability for the Superior Ocean Room.
