Capri by boat: from Positano or from Amalfi?

Both are boat days to Capri for 12 at most, round the island with a swim and drinks on board, and both are rated 4.8. The one we would book from Positano, from Lubrense Boats, meets you in Positano, drives you about 22 km to its boat at Marina della Lobra, stops at the Blue Grotto and gives you four hours ashore. The Amalfi boat, with about 490 reviews, sails straight from the harbour in Amalfi, Positano or Sorrento in a traditional gozzo, skips the grotto and gives you three hours.

The Positano day costs from 160 euros, plus 28 a person paid on the day for the grotto and Capri's landing fee. The Amalfi boat costs from 128, with no fee to go ashore.

Which one for you

Capri and the Blue Grotto by small boat, with pickup in Positano

Book the Positano day if you are staying in Positano or Praiano, if the Blue Grotto is on your list, or if you want four hours ashore, time enough for the chairlift up Monte Solaro from Anacapri as well as Capri town.

Capri by boat from Amalfi

Book the Amalfi boat if you are staying in Amalfi, Ravello, Scala or Minori, if you would rather step on board at the harbour than ride the coast road first, or if the price matters more than the grotto. Prosecco, limoncello and fresh fruit are poured and served on board.

The verdict

In Positano or Praiano, the Positano day: the Blue Grotto and an extra hour on Capri are worth the drive to the boat. In Amalfi, Ravello, Scala or Minori, the Amalfi boat: it leaves from your own harbour and costs 32 euros less, 60 less once the grotto and the landing fee are counted.

How much does a Capri boat day from the Amalfi Coast cost?

From 128 euros on the Amalfi boat, with no fee to go ashore, and from 160 euros on the Positano day, plus 10 euros for Capri's landing tax and destination fee and 18 for the Blue Grotto, on GetYourGuide on 27 October 2026.

How long do you get on Capri?

Four hours on the Positano day and three on the Amalfi boat. Lunch on the island is your own on both.
