The Murdér Express is a murder mystery dinner show made by Funicular Productions at its own venue, Pedley Street Station, a railway arch at Arch 63 Pedley Street on the Bethnal Green side of Shoreditch. Theatre Weekly reported its return to the arch in 2020, and the current story, Part Deux, The Jewel of the Empire, is set in 1937: an archaeologist has found the most valuable diamond in the world, it is travelling by train to a country estate, and before long the diamond is gone and the bodies are piling up. You book it on Fever, which the show's own site sends you to.
Doors open 10 to 15 minutes before the time on your ticket, into an entrance hall, a waiting area and a platform bar, the Seven Sins. Then you board the train: a dining car with eight booths of up to eight people, with TV screens in the windows showing countryside passing so that it feels as if you are moving, though the carriage never leaves the arch. The actors play fellow passengers and crew, the plot plays out between the courses, and the producer says one or two guests may be picked at random to take part; tell the door team if you would rather not be.
Dinner is part of the ticket. The menu is set by Lunar, a restaurant at the World of Wedgwood in Staffordshire with a place in the Michelin Guide, and on 30 October 2026 it was an amuse-bouche of tapenade Parmesan straws, asparagus velouté, breast of chicken with creamed potato, tenderstem and peppercorn sauce, then a double chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. December has a festive menu. Drinks are extra and ordered by QR code at your table, with an optional wine pairing.
The whole evening lasts two hours from when doors open. On 30 October 2026 Fever had sessions on sale from 31 October 2026 to 24 January 2027, Thursdays to Sundays: in the weeks sampled, 18:00 and 20:30 on Thursdays and Fridays, 12:30, 15:00, 17:30 and 20:00 on Saturdays, and 14:30 and 17:00 on Sundays. The Saturday 12:30 and Sunday 14:30 shows are family-friendly, with no swearing, child tickets and a children's menu.
Why this one
Of the 909 London listings on Fever the editor's scout read on 29 October 2026, this was the most reviewed murder mystery, and on 30 October 2026 it held 4.7 from 1,913 reviews. The reviews keep coming back to a funny cast that draws the room in, a proper three-course dinner, and a carriage that feels like a real train. It is also the one that works for families, with matinees where the swearing goes and the children get their own menu.
On price, be clear about what you are comparing. A standard ticket is 92.90 pounds on Fever (88 pounds plus a 4.90 booking fee), 99.50 pounds on Saturday evenings and 87.50 pounds at the Sunday 14:30 matinee. Ents24, which the editor's scout checked, showed 82.60 pounds on 30 October 2026, but that is the Sunday matinee price before Fever's 4.90 fee, and Ents24's buttons say the tickets are sold by Fever, so you pay the same at checkout. DesignMyNight listed the same 92.90 to 99.50 pounds. Where you can genuinely pay less is Fever's own group tickets: the Group Carriage for 4 is 79.90 pounds a head and the Group Carriage for 6 is 74.90 pounds a head, fee included, on most sessions.
The nearest rival on the water is City Cruises' Murder Mystery Cruise from Tower Millennium Pier, from 125 pounds on DesignMyNight, with a three-course dinner from 20:00 to 23:00 on Saturdays 31 October and 28 November 2026 only, and no reviews on that listing yet. Choose it for river views on a fixed date; choose The Murdér Express for more dates, the theatre and the lower price.
For a lighter evening, our cocktail show, Moonshine Saloon, is in the City near Liverpool Street, and our comedy night, Soho Comedy Factory, costs from 10 pounds. For something seated and quiet, see the Candlelight concerts at Central Hall Westminster.

The catch
Book as a group to pay less
On 30 October 2026 the Group Carriage for 6 was 74.90 pounds a head and the Group Carriage for 4 was 79.90 pounds a head with fees, against 92.90 to 99.50 pounds for a standard ticket.
What to do. If you are four or six, buy the group ticket in one order: it is cheaper and keeps you in one booth.
Arrive on time, not early
Doors open 10 to 15 minutes before your ticket time, and the producer says there is nowhere to shelter outside the arch.
What to do. Aim to reach Pedley Street a few minutes before the ticket time, and have a drink in Shoreditch first if you are early.
Drinks are on top
The ticket includes the show and three courses. Cocktails, wine and soft drinks are ordered by QR code once you are checked in and paid for separately.
What to do. Budget for drinks, or add the wine pairing if you want them sorted for the evening.
Tell them about allergies in advance
The menu is fixed, with no substitutions. Allergies, and kosher or halal needs, go through the link in the confirmation email; the kitchen is not certified kosher or halal.
What to do. Fill in the form as soon as you book, and bring any medication you need.
Treat the ticket as fixed
The show's FAQ says tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase, and that they can be transferred to another person in the Fever app.
What to do. Book once your date is settled; if plans change, pass the ticket to a friend through the app.
