A string quartet plays an hour of film or pop music by candlelight under the dome of Central Hall Westminster. Book the Hans Zimmer evening, from 21 pounds with fees, or a tribute at Southwark Cathedral by London Bridge from 13.65.
- Duration: 1 hourStart times show in the calendar
Candlelight is Fever's own concert series, and London has more of it than most cities: on 30 October 2026 Fever was selling 19 Candlelight shows at Central Hall Westminster and Southwark Cathedral alone. The idea does not change from room to room. Fill the stage and the steps with candles, put a string quartet in the middle and play an hour of one artist or one theme. Several of the London listings name the City String Ensemble as the players. Every programme is a tribute, and Fever says so on each listing: you hear Hans Zimmer, Fleetwood Mac or Adele arranged for two violins, viola and cello, not the artists themselves.
The evening starts at the door. Fever opens it 45 minutes before the concert and shuts it shortly before the start, 15 minutes before at Central Hall, and nobody is let in late. There are no numbered seats: you buy a zone and take any free seat in it as you arrive, so the early arrivals get the aisles and the front of each block. Central Hall has a cashless bar selling light snacks and drinks, and before the Central Hall shows Fever sells an instant photo taken by staff in a candlelit corner for 5 pounds. The candles are electric, the kind Fever sells as a 3-pack for 15 pounds at checkout.
The concert runs for 60 minutes without an interval. The Hans Zimmer programme goes from Time, from Inception, through The Lion King, Dunkirk, Gladiator and Interstellar to a Dune suite and Pirates of the Caribbean. Some quartets talk between pieces, and reviews of the Queen vs. ABBA and Ed Sheeran & Coldplay evenings mention the audience being asked to clap and sing along.
The two rooms are what you are paying for. Central Hall Westminster, opposite Westminster Abbey, was built for the Methodist Church and finished in 1911; it hosted the first session of the United Nations General Assembly in 1946, and its Great Hall seats about 2,300 under a dome Fever calls the largest self-supporting domed ceiling in Europe. Fever builds the stage in the round in front of the organ, with tiers of candles rising behind. Southwark Cathedral, beside London Bridge, is a Gothic church built between 1220 and 1420 and a cathedral since 1905, with a memorial to Shakespeare; here the quartet plays at the head of the nave.
Why this one
The one we would book first is Candlelight: The Best of Hans Zimmer at Central Hall Westminster. It has far more reviews than any other Candlelight show in London, 8,478, and holds 4.6 across them on Fever on 30 October 2026; it plays on 31 October, 28 November and 5 December 2026 and 30 January 2027, from 21 pounds with fees. Central Hall is the room for scale: a stage in the round under the dome, and a balcony that looks down on the whole field of candles. It is a 6-minute taxi ride from Hazlitt's and from Artist Residence London, and the Tube is closer still: St James's Park (District and Circle) is about 300 metres away and Westminster (Jubilee, District and Circle) about 400. On the same stage, the Fleetwood Mac tribute is the best-rated show of our 19 on Fever on 30 October 2026, 4.8 from 261 reviews, and Queen vs. ABBA (4.7 from 433) runs until 20 March 2027.
Southwark Cathedral is the choice for a Gothic church, and for anyone staying at Shangri-La The Shard, London, a 5-minute walk away; London Bridge station (Jubilee and Northern) is about 100 metres from the door. It is also the cheaper room: restricted-view seats there start at 13.65 pounds with fees, the lowest price of our 19, and its rated shows average 4.6 from about 1,000 reviews. The Beatles tribute (4.7 from 178) plays there on 30 January 2027 and Adele (4.6 from 149) on 19 February 2027.
On zones at Central Hall, Fever's seating plan has Premium as the front row and Zones A and B on the floor, A in the centre and B to the sides; Zone C is the middle of the balcony and Zone D its sides, with restricted-view seats at the corners of both levels. Zone C is the one we would book there: for the Hans Zimmer show on 31 October 2026 it cost 43.58 pounds with fees against 46.20 for Zone B, and it looks straight down on the quartet and the candles. At Southwark the rows run straight down the nave, Premium then A, B, C and D, so the zone is simply how far back you sit.
Fever's London hub also lists Candlelight at Banqueting House, the Great Hall at Barts and the Banking Hall in the City; we leave them out for now, because on 30 October 2026 none had a rating from 100 or more reviews of the shows now on sale. If you want classical music played by candlelight, Fever also sells a separate series of Vivaldi, Mozart and Chopin concerts at St Mary le Strand (Vivaldi's Four Seasons there held 4.7 from 235 reviews, from 35 pounds) and at St Martin-in-the-Fields on Trafalgar Square. For a later, louder night, see our pages on The Murdér Express, Moonshine Saloon and the Soho Comedy Factory.

Complaints

The catch
Seats go first come, first served
Seats are not numbered. You take any free seat in the zone on your ticket, and Fever says a group only sits together if it arrives together.
What to do. Arrive when the doors open, 45 minutes before, and arrive as a group.
The doors shut before the music starts
At Central Hall the doors close 15 minutes before the concert, and Fever does not let anyone in late.
What to do. Allow for the Tube or the traffic around Parliament Square; St James's Park station is about 300 metres away.
The price grows at checkout
Fever shows each zone's price and adds a 5% booking fee on top. The from price is the cheapest seat on the cheapest date: Hans Zimmer starts at 21 pounds, but on 31 October 2026 its cheapest open seat was 24.68.
What to do. Compare the dates in the calendar before you choose a zone.
Standard tickets are not refundable
You can change the date or time up to 48 hours before, if there is space. A refund needs the Flexible Cancellation ticket, which keeps a 10% fee.
What to do. If your plans might move, take the flexible ticket at checkout.
Cheap seats can sell out first
On 30 October 2026 the restricted-view balcony for Hans Zimmer on 31 October and the 17.85-pound restricted seats for Fleetwood Mac at Southwark on 28 November were already sold out.
What to do. Book the date you want early, or look at Zone D at Central Hall, the sides of the balcony.
