Candlelight: Tribute to Juan Luis Guerra
St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church, Brooklyn Heights
One night only: 14 Juan Luis Guerra songs, from Ojalá Que Llueva Café to Bachata en Fukuoka, played by a string quartet by candlelight at St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn Heights on 13 November 2026, from 57.24 dollars with fees.
This is a single evening, Friday 13 November 2026 at 20:45, and the programme Fever calls tentative is a career in fourteen songs. Juan Luis Guerra, born in Santo Domingo in 1957, studied jazz composition at Berklee in Boston before forming his band 4.40, and his 1990 album Bachata Rosa brought bachata to an international audience and won a Grammy, Wikipedia says. Three of its songs are here, Burbujas de Amor, Bachata Rosa and A Pedir Su Mano, alongside the merengue of La Bilirrubina and Las Avispas, Ojalá Que Llueva Café, Visa Para un Sueño and El Niágara en Bicicleta, and the later Bachata en Fukuoka.
The concert is instrumental. Fever names only the Highline String Quartet, with no singer, so the lyrics stay with the audience and the violins carry the tunes. Guerra's songs give a quartet plenty to work with: the harmony comes from his jazz training, and the merengue numbers bring a pace that most Candlelight programmes lack. The evening is made for fans who know these songs in Spanish, but nothing is sung, so no Spanish is needed to enjoy it. Fever says the concert is a tribute and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the artist.
It is the priciest Candlelight evening on our list, from 57.24 dollars in Zone C, and on 29 October 2026 Zone C had the fewest seats left of the three zones. St. Ann & the Holy Trinity is an 1847 Gothic Revival church with its original stained glass; 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge is a 17-minute walk. For more Latin music, the Juan Gabriel tribute plays at the Church of the Heavenly Rest until 11 December 2026. For doors and zones, see our full guide to Candlelight in New York.
