Lanzarote airport transfers

Lanzarote has one airport, on the east coast between Arrecife and Puerto del Carmen, and the island is compact: our ten hotels are 7 to 36 minutes from it by road. This page sets out every realistic way to each of them, with the island bus times, the official taxi meter and the typical drive to each door.

The short answer

For Puerto del Carmen, line 161 runs from 07:30 to 21:30 and stops about 100 m from La Isla y el Mar after 21 minutes and 200 m from Hotel Fariones after 18; a taxi takes 13 minutes for about €19 by day. For Playa Blanca, line 162-D, eight times a day, reaches the bus station in 20 minutes and a taxi takes 31 minutes for about €43, but neither hotel there is next to the station, so a private transfer booked ahead is the easy answer. For Costa Teguise, Teguise, Haría and La Geria, where no airport bus goes, take a taxi or a driver.

  • ACELanzarote (ACE). César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport, 5 km from Arrecife: Terminal 1 for international and mainland flights, Terminal 2 next door for inter-island hops. Hotel Lancelot is 7 minutes away, Playa Blanca 31 and Haría 36.

Both lines call at the Gran Hotel stop, two minutes' walk from Hotel Lancelot, which makes this the cheapest arrival on the island.

Taxis from the airport to another town run on the Canary Government's interurban meter: a €3.85 minimum that covers the first 1.5 km, then €1.35 a km from 06:00 to 22:00 on working days, and €4.25 and €1.55 at night, on Sundays and on holidays, plus €2.10 for an airport pick-up. Waiting costs €18.50 an hour. The figures below are our estimates from that tariff and the routed distance; ask for a receipt.

Hotel Fariones and La Isla y el Mar, 11 km

Landing late, or with children and luggage

Line 161 leaves for the last time at 21:30, and line 61 makes one run at 22:30, reaching Balcón de Mar at 22:54 and Playa Blanca bus station at 23:21. To Arrecife, the last line 22 leaves at 23:35 on weekdays and the last line 23 at 22:17 at weekends. After that, the taxi ranks on Floor 0 work at any hour, on the night rate.

A driver booked ahead follows your flight, so a delay costs nothing, and waits in the Terminal 1 arrivals hall with your name. With children and cases, that is the easy way to Playa Blanca, where neither of our hotels is next to the bus station.

Costa Teguise, Teguise, Haría and La Geria

Four of our hotels are away from the airport bus routes. Paradisus Salinas in Costa Teguise is 18 minutes by road, Palacio Ico in Teguise 21, Hotel César Lanzarote beside La Geria 13 and La Casa de los Naranjos in Haría 36. Reaching any of them by bus means changing in Arrecife, so a taxi from the rank or a driver booked ahead is the realistic answer. Aena lists nine car-hire firms at both terminals if you plan to drive on the island.

Going back to the airport

About 31 minutes by road from Playa Blanca, 13 from Puerto del Carmen, 18 from Costa Teguise and Puerto Calero, 7 from Arrecife and 36 from Haría. Line 162-D leaves Playa Blanca on the hour from 11:00 to 20:00 (not 12:00 or 19:00) and reaches the airport in 35 minutes; line 161 leaves Playa Blanca bus station from 08:25 and takes 51 minutes. From Arrecife bus station, line 22 runs on weekdays from 05:30 to 23:20 and line 23 hourly at weekends from 07:00 to 22:00. Aena suggests arriving two and a half hours before departure.
