Burbank is the short way into the north and east of Los Angeles. The Garland in Studio City is about 13 minutes from the new terminal, The Hollywood Roosevelt about 19, and Downtown is a train ride away. Below is every realistic way out of Hollywood Burbank, where each one leaves from at the new terminal, and the way we would get to each of the ten hotels in our Los Angeles edit.
The short answer
For The Garland, The Hollywood Roosevelt, Silver Lake Pool & Inn and Sunset Tower, take a taxi or a ride app: typically 13–24 minutes, from the taxi rank across the road or the rideshare lot just east of the terminal. For Downtown, Metrolink runs from Burbank Airport-North to Union Station in about 26 minutes for $5.25, with a free airport shuttle to the station. The beach hotels, Malibu and Terranea are far nearer LAX; if you do land here, book a driver.

Leaves from the taxi pick-up at the western end of the parking structure's ground-level kerb, across the road from the terminal. The quickest way to the hotels in the hills and the Valley.

Booked cars collect in the short-term parking structure across the road. Worth it after a late or delayed flight, with children and car seats, or for the long drives to the coast.

The shuttle leaves from the airport shuttle stop at the eastern end of the parking structure kerb; call 818.565.1308. The South station is also on Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner, between San Luis Obispo and San Diego.
Reached by the airport shuttle to the RITC, which runs 05:00–23:00. For a light traveller heading to the Metro network, not for anyone with cases.
Beverly Hills
About 30 minutes over the hills from Burbank, a little more than from LAX, so fly into whichever airport suits your flight and take a taxi to the door.
Santa Monica
Thirty-eight minutes from Burbank against 19 from LAX; if you land here, a taxi across the city is the simple answer.
Malibu
Fifty-four minutes from Burbank with no public transport along the coast, so a driver at a fixed price is the calm way to make the trip.
Palos Verdes
The furthest of our hotels from Burbank, about 67 minutes to Palos Verdes, so book a driver who has tracked your flight; LAX is the airport for Terranea.
Sunset Strip
Twenty-four minutes from Burbank, a little nearer than LAX, and the taxi rank is a road crossing from baggage claim.
Santa Monica
Thirty-eight minutes from Burbank to the beach; LAX is half the drive if your airline flies there.
Hollywood
Nineteen minutes by taxi from Burbank, against 30 from LAX, to a hotel on Hollywood Boulevard.
Studio City
The closest of our hotels to any airport, about 13 minutes from Burbank by taxi.
Silver Lake
Twenty-one minutes from Burbank with no direct rail link, so a taxi or ride app from the lot is the way.
Downtown LA
Twenty-five minutes by taxi; if a train is due, Metrolink from Burbank Airport-North to Union Station in about 26 minutes for $5.25 and two Metro stops to 7th Street/Metro Center is the cheap alternative.
Baggage claim is on the right of the main terminal as you face it from the road. Cross in front of the main entrance to the parking structure: taxis wait at the western end of its ground-level kerb, hotel shuttles in the middle, and the airport's own shuttle to the rental cars, buses and the South station at the eastern end. Uber and Lyft use a separate lot just east of the terminal.
The new building opened on 13 October 2026, so older directions to Burbank's ground transport describe the previous terminal.
Yes, from either of two stations. Burbank Airport-North, on Metrolink's Antelope Valley Line, is the nearer to the new terminal: $5.25 and about 26 minutes to Union Station, with a free on-demand airport shuttle from the Valet Parking area, 05:00–00:30. Burbank Airport-South is on the Ventura County Line and the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner: $7.25 and 22–27 minutes on Metrolink, with its own free shuttle 05:00–22:00. From Union Station, Hotel Figueroa is two Metro stops. Neither line runs all day, so check the timetable before you count on a train.
For four of our ten hotels Burbank is the nearer airport: The Garland (13 minutes, against 34 from LAX), The Hollywood Roosevelt (19 against 30), Silver Lake Pool & Inn (21 against 32) and Sunset Tower (24 against 27). Hotel Figueroa is about the same from both. For the beach hotels, Malibu and Terranea, LAX is the right airport, and from Burbank a pre-booked driver is the way to cover the distance.
The airport's voluntary curfew keeps scheduled airline flights out of the hours from 22:00 to 06:59, but a delayed flight can still land after the shuttles stop. The rental car shuttle stops at 23:00 and the South station shuttle at 22:00, so after a late arrival the taxi rank and the rideshare lot are the reliable ways out. A pre-booked driver who tracks the flight takes the uncertainty away.
Burbank asks for at least an hour before your flight, two at peak holiday times, and there is one security checkpoint for all 14 gates. Cars can drop off at the kerb but cannot wait, and ride apps drop off at the rideshare lot steps from the building.
