Which room to book at Fornalutx Petit Hotel

The mountain-view double with a private balcony, which the hotel sells as Habitación vista montaña y terraza privada. It is barely bigger than the doubles below it, about 22 m² against 20, but it is the only room short of the suite with somewhere of your own to sit outside facing the Tramuntana, which is the reason to sleep in Fornalutx at all. Below it are two plain doubles that differ only in their window; above it is the convent's old chapel.

Why this one

The hotel sells four categories, and the three doubles are close in size: about 20 m² for the village-view and mountain-view rooms, about 22 m² for the one with the balcony. What separates them is the outlook. The cheapest look onto a quiet village lane; the next step up faces the Tramuntana, with the hotel's orange trees below; the step above that adds a private balcony. On Tuesday 11 May 2027 those three were 182, 192 and 212 euros for two, with breakfast, and the hotel's rates are the same in March as in August, so the balcony costs about 30 euros a night more than the lane whenever you go.

That is the case for the pick. The patio terrace faces the mountains too, but it is shared, and a balcony is the one place short of the suite where the view is yours alone, at seven in the morning or at dusk. The suite is a different proposition: the convent's old chapel, about 50 m² with its own terrace over the mountains and the valley, at 327 euros, worth it for a special night rather than for a week of walking.

Ask for
Nothing on the view, which comes with the category. Ask for a room away from the front door if you sleep lightly, because the buzzer that lets people in carries, and say when you book if stairs are a problem, since there is no lift. If the budget stretches, ask whether the Exclusive Suite is free: there is only one.
Avoid
The village-view doubles, if the mountains are the point. They look onto a lane, rooms on that side hear the front-door buzzer, and the saving over the mountain-view double is 10 euros a night.

Suites against rooms

There is one suite, and it is the convent's old chapel. The Exclusive Suite is about 50 m², with a king-size bed, a small sitting room, a bathroom with a whirlpool bath and a private terrace over the mountains and the valley. At 327 euros on 11 May 2027 it costs about 115 euros a night more than the balcony double, which buys floor area, a terrace instead of a balcony and the one room in the house with a story. Book it for an anniversary; for a week of walking, the balcony double does the job.

Our verdict

Book it for the village and the mountain view from about 180 euros a night, and take the room with the balcony. Pack light: the stairs come with the convent.
