Which room to book at Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort
The Exclusive Room, sea view. Every room category is 44 square metres, with a 9 square metre terrace on the five whose pages give one, so the entire difference between the six is what the terrace looks at and how high up it is. The Exclusive is the lowest category the hotel sells with the sea in front of it, on floors two to eight, and everything below it looks at the city.

Why this one
The hotel's own room pages make the argument for you. All six room categories are 44 m², five of them stated as including a 9 m² terrace, sleep two, and share the same list of inclusions: the heated pools, the lagoon in season, the fitness room, the resort shuttle and free entry to the casino. What changes is the sentence about orientation and the sentence about floors. Three categories face the city, one is sold as a partial sea view, and two face the sea. The Exclusive Room, sea view, is the cheapest of those two, on floors two to eight, and since the room itself is identical whatever you pay, it is the point on the ladder where the money starts buying the thing you came for.
Above it the ladder splits. The Exclusive Premium is the same room on the ninth and tenth floors, and whether it is worth the step depends only on the gap between the two rates on your dates. The suites are all on the ninth and tenth floors and all face the sea, so there the money buys floor area and terrace: the 92 m² Suite has a 22 m² terrace, while the 85 m² Duplex and the 104 m² Prestige Duplex keep the standard 9 m² one, which is why the Suite is the one families want. The Diamond Suite Eleven sits alone on the eleventh floor and is the only category whose page lists breakfast and a return transfer from Nice among the inclusions.
- Ask for
- Ask for the highest floor available within the Exclusive category, which runs to the eighth, and say at booking that the sea and the lagoon side are the reason for the stay. Ask for a room away from the Sporting side of the peninsula if you are staying on a Friday or Saturday, since Jimmy'z next door runs until 5am on those nights by its own page. If you are travelling with two children under twelve, ask for the Suite, sea view, rather than a Duplex: same sofa-bed arrangement, more than twice the terrace.
- Avoid
- Avoid the three city-view categories if the sea is the point, and be suspicious of the word Premium: the Deluxe Premium is the top of the landward side, not a better view. Avoid the low floors of any category on the landward side on summer weekends, when guests report club noise from Jimmy'z, which runs to 5am, and the Blue Gin, which runs to 1.30am. And do not assume breakfast is included; on the hotel's own pages only the Diamond Suite lists it.
Suites against rooms
The one to know about is the Suite, sea view: 92 m² on one level on the tenth floor with a 22 m² terrace, more than twice the outdoor space of the Duplex and Prestige Duplex suites either side of it on the ladder, and a sofa bed for two under-12s or a third adult. The Prestige Superior Suite is larger at 118 m² with two terraces, but they are the standard 9 m² each. If what you want is to sit outside above the lagoon with the whole bay in front of you, the terrace numbers decide it.

Our verdict
The right Monaco hotel for anyone who wants a resort holiday with the principality as a backdrop. Sea view or nothing.
