Thai and Japanese, since 2006 · €€€
Two hundred metres back along the avenue, and the nearest serious kitchen to the hotel door: a Thai side and a Japanese side under one roof, open since 2006. Its own site gives service every day from noon to 11pm without a break, with a business lunch on weekdays and an afternoon menu from 2pm to 6pm, which makes it the answer when you come off the lagoon at five and want more than a pizza. Expensive, like everything on this avenue, but the continuous hours are rare in Monaco.

Family beach restaurant, since 1975 · €€
The unpretentious one on Larvotto beach, family-run since 1975 and rebuilt with the Renzo Piano promenade. Its own site gives continuous service seven days a week from 11.30am to 10pm, all year, with wood-fired pizzas, salads and burgers, and it prices its sunbeds in public: 35 euros with a parasol, 50 in the front row. For a child who wants pizza and a swim in the sea rather than the lagoon, this is nine minutes away and costs a fraction of the hotel.

Italian classics facing Larvotto beach · €€
Across the avenue from the beach, the all-day Italian that Monaco uses as a canteen: burrata, tartares, pappardelle with veal ragout, linguine with lobster or bottarga, pinsa. Its own site gives noon to 10.30pm without stating days, with lunch specials from noon and the dinner menu from 7.30pm. It is where to eat when you want a plate of pasta and a bottle at a normal hour without a reservation drama, and the terrace is the place to watch the avenue do its thing.

Italian seafood and all-day caffè · €€€
The smarter of the beach restaurants, Italian and seafood-led, with a beach club in summer and a Caffè that runs all year. Breakfast is not included in the standard rates. The hotel's own practical information page prices it at 48 euros per person per day, an American buffet in the Calypso area, taxes and service included, with children of five and under free and six to eleven at half price; on the room pages only the Diamond Suite Eleven lists it among the inclusions. Guests report a buffet that is short on variety and crowded in July and August. The in-house alternative is L'Orange Verte, which its own page opens at 8am; the nearest outside one is La Rose des Vents Caffè on Larvotto beach from 8.30am, ten minutes on foot. From October to May the hotel also runs a Sunday champagne brunch in the Calypso area from 12.30pm to 3pm.
