Orly to Paris: every way in, timed and priced

Orly is the closer of the two Paris airports to every hotel in our edit, and since metro line 14 reached it, the quickest by public transport too. The taxi fare is fixed by law and cheaper than from Charles de Gaulle. This page covers Orly alone: where each option leaves from, what it costs, and how we would reach each of our ten Paris hotels.

The short answer

From Orly a taxi costs a fixed €45 to the Right Bank, where nine of our hotels are, and €36 to Mandarin Oriental Lutetia on the Left Bank, with a typical drive of 20–31 minutes. Travelling light, metro line 14 runs from the station by Orly 3 to Châtelet in about 25 minutes for €14, calling at Gare de Lyon, Pyramides and Madeleine. Landing late or with children, book a driver who meets you in arrivals.

  • ORYParis Orly (ORY). The smaller airport south of the city, mostly European flights, closer to all ten of our hotels and linked by metro line 14.

Metro line 14

ORY
Time
About 23 minutes to Gare de Lyon and 25 to Châtelet, on to Pyramides, Madeleine and Saint-Lazare; every 2 to 5 minutes from 05:30 until around midnight. Station: Aéroport d'Orly, reached from the Orly 3 arrivals level
Price
€14 per person on the Paris Région Airports ticket; Navigo all-zone passes valid

The best way in from Orly for anyone staying near Châtelet or Madeleine. From Orly 4, walk through or take the free Orlyval to Orly 1-2-3 first.

Orlyval and RER B

ORY
Time
About 6 minutes from Orly to Antony, then the RER B into Paris; Orlyval runs every 5 to 7 minutes from 06:00 to 23:35, from its stations at Orly 1-2-3 and Orly 4
Price
€14 per person for Orlyval and the RER on one ticket; Navigo passes are not valid on Orlyval

Useful for the Left Bank stations of the RER B, Luxembourg and Port-Royal. With luggage, the €36 taxi to the Left Bank is easier.

Tram T7 and Noctilien night buses

ORY
Time
Tram T7 from Orly 4 to Villejuif, the end of metro line 7, in about 45 minutes, 05:30 to 00:30; Noctilien night buses, including the N22, N31 and N131, to Châtelet and Gare de Lyon while the metro is closed
Price
An ordinary bus-tram ticket

The tram is the slow, cheap way in and the night buses the only public transport in the small hours. With bags, a taxi beats both.

The Orly taxi fare and where to find the rank

The fare between Orly and Paris is fixed by the Paris police prefecture: €45 to the Right Bank and €36 to the Left Bank, per car, the same in both directions, with no extra fees allowed, including for luggage. A fifth passenger adds €5.50, and every Paris taxi must accept cards.

Official taxis wait only at the ranks outside arrivals on level 0, with licensed agents directing you to a car: gate 14a for Orly 1 and 2, gate 48a for Orly 4. The Orly 3 rank at gate 32a was closed for renovation in early 2026, with Orly 3 passengers sent to gate 14a, so follow the signs on the day.

Is metro line 14 worth it from Orly?

For one person travelling light and staying near the line, yes: €14, about 25 minutes to Châtelet, trains every few minutes and no traffic. The station, Aéroport d'Orly, is by Orly 3 and reached from its arrivals level; from Orly 1 and 2 walk through the building, from Orly 4 take the free Orlyval or walk. Buy the Paris Région Airports ticket on your phone or a Navigo Easy card: the ordinary metro ticket is not valid at the airport station.

It suits Hôtel Madame Rêve and Le Grand Mazarin via Châtelet, and Hôtel de Crillon via Madeleine. For two people with cases, the €45 taxi to the door is worth the extra €17 over two metro tickets.

Orly to Paris at night

Line 14 runs until around midnight and Orlyval until 23:35. After that, Noctilien night buses link Orly with Châtelet and Gare de Lyon on an ordinary bus ticket, slowly. Taxis serve the ranks 24 hours at the same fixed fare, and a booked driver will have tracked a delayed flight. For a late landing with bags, either beats the night bus.

The Orlybus has gone

The Orlybus to Denfert-Rochereau stopped on 3 March 2025, replaced by metro line 14. Older guides still list it.

With children and luggage

The fixed fare is per car, so a family of four pays the same as one traveller; a standard taxi takes four and a booked van up to seven. A private transfer is the way to be sure of child seats. With a pushchair and several cases, the taxi is far less effort than the metro.

Going back to Orly

The fixed fares work in reverse. Paris Aéroport advises arriving two hours before a short-haul flight and three before long-haul. Allow a typical 20–31 minutes from our hotels, more in the weekday rush, and know your Orly terminal before you set off: Orly 4 is separate from Orly 1, 2 and 3. For a dawn flight, book a taxi, since line 14 starts at 05:30.
