The one-bedroom River Villa. It is 120 square metres, twice the entry Lagoon Villa, with a private pool that opens straight onto the 80-metre river channel the hotel is named for. The stand-alone Pool Villa is bigger, but the river is the thing you cannot get anywhere else on the island.

Why this one
The hotel sells six villa types and, by bedroom count, ten sizes, and the first thing to know is that the smallest is a long way below the rest. The one-bedroom Lagoon Villa is 60 square metres on a lake shared by four villas; the one-bedroom River Villa is 120, spread over two levels, with a king bed, a bath and a shower, and a private pool that opens with direct access onto the 80-metre river channel. The Pool Villa and the Grand Pool Villa are 140 square metres each and stand alone, which is the better choice if nobody else's water is the point, but the river is what the hotel built, a concept its own site calls the first of its kind in Spain, and it is why the hotel is called what it is.
Above the one-bedroom rungs the ladder is about bedrooms rather than views. The two-bedroom River Villa is 180 square metres, the Grand Pool Villas step up to 207 and 250, and the three-bedroom Grand Pool Villa is a duplex for seven. The two named villas at the top, the 325 square metre Paradise Villa with its open-air bath among banana plants and the 360 square metre Sky Villa Sea View for eight, are for groups. The Grand Pool and Paradise villas front the golf course, the Lagoon Villas are sold with the sea view, and the River Villas look at their own water. The hotel states no floor levels beyond the two-level River Villas and the duplex, and no prices on its pages, so the rungs are ordered by size.
- Ask for
- Ask for a river villa on the sunnier side of the channel; guests report the river villas get less direct sun than the pool villas. Ask too for a villa on the upper terraces with the sea in view rather than one facing the internal walkways, because the extra elevation is where the view lives. Say when you book that the river is the reason for the stay. If you want breakfast included, check the rate description, because the hotel's site does not say which rates carry it.
- Avoid
- The one-bedroom Lagoon Villa if space matters: 60 square metres against 120 for the River Villa and 140 for the Pool Villa, with a small pool of its own that opens onto a lake shared by four villas rather than onto the river channel. It is sold with the sea view, and it is the cheapest way into the resort, but it is not the villa in the photograph.
Suites against rooms
Two villas at the top are worth knowing about even if you do not book them. The Paradise Villa is three bedrooms and three bathrooms for up to seven with a large terrace overlooking the golf course, a freestanding open-air bath surrounded by banana plants and a pool with direct access to the river; its own page carries no size, but the hotel's villa selector lists it as the Paradise Pool Villa at 325 square metres. The Sky Villa Sea View is 360 square metres, four bedrooms and four bathrooms for eight, and the only category the hotel sells with the sea in its name. Both are adults only from 14 like everything else here, so a family reunion works only once the youngest is fourteen.
