The Pantheon was a free walk-in for most of its 1,400 years as a church, and a lot of guidebooks still say so. Since July 2023 there has been a ticket, and on 1 July 2026 it went from 5 to 7 euros under an agreement between the Ministry of Culture and the Diocese of Rome. It is open every day from 9am to 7pm, last entry 6.30pm, and free on the first Sunday of the month.

This ticket costs from 7 euros, the face value, and on top gives you the Pantheon's official audio guide, the one the basilica itself backs. It is told in voices: Hadrian, who rebuilt the temple as we see it; Pope Boniface IV, who consecrated it as a church in 609 and so saved it from being stripped; Raphael, who is buried here; and Queen Margherita, who lies here with two kings of Italy. It covers the dome, 43.44 metres across, and still the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world, the oculus that turns the floor into a sundial, and the Pentecost Sunday tradition of rose petals dropped through it.

Your ticket arrives by email within 24 hours of your visit. The audio guide is collected from the OhMyGuide store at Via dei Bergamaschi 49, two minutes from the Pantheon, against an ID or a card as a deposit. Then you join the timed-entry line for ticket holders, which guests say moves in about ten minutes.

Why this one

It is the Pantheon ticket with the most reviews on GetYourGuide by far, about 32,000, rated 4.4. The few that complain are mostly about price, from days when it cost more than the ticket, and about the detour to collect the audio guide. A rival listing at about 7 euros has an app-based audio tour and only about 500 reviews.

You can book the bare ticket from the Ministry of Culture's own site for the same 7 euros. If the calendar shows this one at face value on your date, there is no reason not to take the audio guide with it. If it shows more, buy the official ticket.

Good for

  • Everyone: an hour, a handful of euros, and the best-preserved building of ancient Rome
  • Families, with an audio guide that tells the story in voices
  • Wheelchair users: the Pantheon is step-free inside

Not for

  • Anyone who wants a live guide: this is an audio tour
  • Visitors on a Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning, when the audio guide store is closed

What guests keep saying

Recurring themes in the tour’s reviews, in our words, never quoted.

Praised

  • The audio guide: short, clear stories rather than a lecture
  • A fast line for ticket holders, with waits of about ten minutes
  • Friendly staff at the collection point

Complaints

  • The detour to collect the audio guide, which some guests see as a waste of time

The catch

  1. The price moves with the date

GetYourGuide's price changes with demand, and some reviewers paid well over face value: one complains of two and a half times the ticket price.

What to do. Book only if the calendar shows 7 euros or close to it; otherwise buy the official ticket.

  2. A detour for the audio guide

The ticket is emailed, but the audio guide is collected at Via dei Bergamaschi 49 and returned there, and the store keeps shorter hours than the Pantheon: 9am to 6pm on weekdays, 9am to 3pm on Saturdays and 12pm to 6pm on Sundays.

What to do. Pick a slot inside the store's hours, and bring an ID or a card to leave as a deposit.

  3. Early is not earlier

Entry is timed. Arriving early does not get you in before your slot, and guests say the path fills with people waiting for theirs. Late arrival is not guaranteed entry.

What to do. Arrive about 15 minutes before your time, not 45.

  4. It is a church

The Pantheon is the Basilica of Santa Maria ad Martyres, with Mass on Sundays and holy days, and the same dress code as any church in Rome: no shorts, short skirts or sleeveless tops.

What to do. Cover shoulders and knees, and avoid Sunday mornings.
