Which room to book at Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora

The RedLevel Junior Suite Ocean Front. It is the same 54 square metres as the entry Deluxe Room, but it faces the Atlantic rather than a garden and it comes with RedLevel: private check-in, the lounge with its breakfast, the adults-only pool and priority reservations in the restaurants. In a resort this big, the quiet is the upgrade.

The entry room, terrace included. The view is whatever is outside, and the hotel does not promise more.

Why this one

Every Deluxe room in the main hotel is 54 square metres except the Ocean Front at 59, so below the suites the main-hotel ladder is not about space at all; it is about what the terrace looks at and how close you are to the family pools and the evening entertainment. The RedLevel Junior Suite Ocean Front keeps the entry size and changes everything else. The hotel's own page for it lists private areas in the resort, private check-in, priority reservations in the restaurants and bars, a private lounge and a balcony on the ocean front, and the RedLevel page adds an adults-only pool open 10:00 to 18:30, an à la carte breakfast in the lounge, an open bar from 16:30 to 18:00 and 10 percent off food at Dos Naifes. Those are exactly the things guests in the main hotel complain about not having: a quiet pool, a breakfast without a queue and a table when they want one.

Above the pick the ladder splits in two. One branch adds whirlpools on the balcony, which cost terrace space and add nothing to the view; the other adds floor area, from the 78 square metre suites to the 111 square metre Grand Suite with its sea-facing terrace bath, then the two-bedroom Master Suites at 132 and the villas from 390 square metres with heated private pools and a butler. The main-hotel Suite and Master Suite are bigger than the pick but sit below the whole RedLevel range in service, because RedLevel is a service tier sold across sizes rather than a size. If you want the wing's calm at the lowest price, the plain RedLevel Junior Suite facing the garden gets you in; if you want the sea as well, the Ocean Front is the rung.

Ask for
Ask for an ocean-front room away from the evening entertainment and the family pools, and say when you book that quiet is the reason for the choice; guests report that garden-side rooms near the shows are noisy at night. Ask which block you are in and whether it has been refurbished recently, since condition varies more than category. If you are booking RedLevel for the pool, confirm the adults-only pool hours, 10:00 to 18:30 on the hotel's page, suit your days.
Avoid
Skip the Deluxe Resort View and the Master Suite Two Bedrooms if the sea is the point: the first faces the garden and the hotel calls the second a city view. Skip the whirlpool categories unless you will use the tub, because the balcony is the price. And if quiet, the lounge and restaurant priority do not matter to you, do not pay the RedLevel premium at all; a Deluxe Ocean Front View in the main hotel has the same Atlantic in front of it.

Suites against rooms

Two suites are worth singling out. The RedLevel Grand Suite, 111 square metres with a large living room, an additional bathroom and a terrace with a bathtub facing the ocean, is the one to take if a terrace bath in front of the sea is the reason for the trip; the Junior Suite whirlpool categories put the tub on a much smaller balcony. The other is the RedLevel Villa with Private Pool for Adults Only, 400 square metres with a heated pool, garden, butler and the spa's water ritual included, which is the only way to have this resort's pool life without sharing it with anyone.
