Lunch 12:30 to 15:30 and dinner from 18:30; closed on Wednesdays. It is right on Amalfi's busiest beach, so book a table in summer.

Rooftop cocktail bar · €€€
On the roof of the same palazzo, opened in the summer of 2025, a cocktail terrace that looks over the sea one way and the bulk of the cathedral the other. The drinks are worked out with care, layered and sharp, and the point is to order them with the small bites the starred kitchen downstairs sends up to match each one. Come at the golden hour, when the light turns the bay and the houses gold, and stay into the evening. Hours are not published, so ask at Sensi downstairs for the evening's times, and reserve on summer nights.

Pasticceria and café on Piazza Duomo, since 1830 · €
The pastry shop and café on the cathedral square, there since 1830 and still in the family, and holder of the top mark, three cakes, in Gambero Rosso's pastry guide. Take a coffee at a table under the Duomo steps and order the house specialities: le scorzette, candied lemon and orange peel, and the delizia al limone, a dome of sponge soaked and covered in lemon cream. It opens every day from 07:30 until 01:00, so it works for a second breakfast, an afternoon pastry or a late dessert after dinner in town.

Family trattoria off Piazza Duomo, since 1872 · €€€
Up a lane off the main street from Piazza Duomo, the trattoria began in 1872 in the home of a young cook called Gemma, and her recipes are still on the menu, with a terrace over the heart of Amalfi. Order the house classics: paccheri filled with burrata and black truffle in a sauce of sea snails (€30), risotto with red prawns and Sfusato lemon (€30 a head, for two or more) and Nonna Gemma's genovese (€29). Seafood trattoria in Atrani · €€
In the lanes of Atrani, the small town just east of Amalfi, an informal seafood trattoria run by the Proto brothers since 1986 and listed in the MICHELIN Guide. There is barely a menu: the dishes of the day, built on the morning's fish and cooked plainly, are told at the table, with a wine list that covers Italy region by region. Lunch 12:30 to 14:30 and dinner 19:00 to 22:00; closed on Tuesdays. The walk goes up and over the headland on stepped lanes, so it is a climb each way, and the room is small: book for dinner in summer.
