Why this one
The bottom of the ladder at Hotel Marina Riviera is small. The Standard No View and the Standard are both about 16 m², and the difference between them is a window: the first looks at the back of the hotel from the top floor, the second at the bay. At €614 and €917 a night for two with breakfast in June, the sea costs about €300 a night on its own.
The Deluxe is where the room catches up with the setting. For €133 more than the Standard it adds about 4 m², a bath beside the walk-in shower and, above all, a balcony, the first place in the hotel's rooms to sit outside over the bay with a coffee in the morning. The Junior Suite above it adds a terrace and a sitting area for another €98, which is fair value for a longer stay, but the view is the same. From the Suite upwards the money buys space and solariums rather than a better outlook.
- Ask for
- A Deluxe on a higher floor: the rooms face the coast road as well as the sea, and guests find the traffic quieter higher up. Say at the same time if stairs are a problem, since the lift is listed as stopping at the third floor.
- Avoid
- The Standard No View if the sea is the point, since its windows face the back of the hotel, and it is on the top floor, above the lift. Avoid the Dependance categories too if you want to be in the hotel itself: they are in Casa Marina Riviera, about 240 metres away on Piazza del Duomo, with the pool and breakfast a five-minute walk away.
Suites against rooms
Six suites sit above the Deluxe. The Junior Suite (about 28 m², €1,148) and the Suite (about 35 m², open plan, €1,376) have balconies with terraces over the bay. The Suite Amalfitana (about 42 m² with a 38 m² solarium and Jacuzzi) and the Superior Suite (about 45 m², two rooms) were not on sale for the June date. The Suite Eolo, about 80 m² with a kitchen and patio terrace, reached by steps, was €1,933, and the Master Suite, about 60 m² on the highest floor with a private solarium and two balconies, €2,004.
