Why this one

Disney sells the lodge's standard rooms in three views, each with two queen beds or one king, and describes the room the same way in all six: a beverage cooler, a coffee and tea station and a patio or balcony. The view is what changes, and what costs. The Resort View faces rooftops or the car park, at $527. The Water View faces the pool, at $570. The Savanna View faces one of the three savannas round the hotel, where giraffes and antelope graze, at $740, $213 more than the entry room. Disney does not publish room sizes, floors or which wings face which savanna, and it does not let you pick the savanna, so the category is the only thing you can book.

The two-queen rooms sleep four plus a child under three, and a third or fourth adult may cost extra; the king rooms sleep two plus a child under three. Couples can take the Savanna View - King Bed at $752. Club Level adds the Kilimanjaro Club's continental breakfast, snacks and evening drinks and Club Level concierge, and in the two-queen room the Arusha Savanna by name, for $223 a night more than the pick.

Ask for
Disney sells the view, not a particular savanna. Ask when you book for the Arusha Savanna, the one Disney names for its two-queen Club Level savanna room and the Royal Asante Presidential Suite; it is a request, not a promise. Through early 2027, ask as well for a room away from the refurbishment work, and say whether you want two queens or a king, since both are sold in every view.
Avoid
The Resort View rooms if the animals are the point, since Disney describes their view as rooftops or the car park, and the Water View rooms, which face the pool for $43 more than the Resort View. The Resort View - 1 BR Suite too, unless the space matters more than the window: it is the one suite Disney sells on rooftops or the car park. Through early 2027 Disney also warns of daytime construction noise from its room and public-area works.

Suites against rooms

Every suite comes with Club Level and the Kilimanjaro Club. The one-bedroom suites have two queen beds and a queen sleeper sofa for six plus a child under three: $1,416 facing rooftops or the car park, $1,508 facing one of the savannas. The 2 Bedroom Suite adds a king for eight plus a child under three, at $2,410; these three list a small fridge where the rooms have a beverage cooler. Two named suites look over the Arusha Savanna: the Royal Kuba VP Suite, sold only as a wheelchair-accessible suite with a roll-in shower, a king and two queen beds, at $3,732, and the Royal Asante Presidential Suite at $4,114.

Our verdict

Book Animal Kingdom Lodge for the savanna, and pay for a Savanna View room so that it is outside your balcony. Plan on Disney's buses or a car for the parks, and give Magic Kingdom days an early start.
