In Orlando the views worth paying for are made, not found: a savanna stocked with animals, a theme park across a lagoon, a new park's fountains outside the window. At all three hotels here the view is sold by room category, so the category is what you book: Savanna View at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Theme Park View at the Grand Floridian and Park View at Helios Grand. Each costs about $200 a night more than the entry room on a winter Tuesday, for the same beds.
Know what each one promises. Disney sells a savanna rather than particular animals, and a Magic Kingdom view at an angle about a kilometre off, naming Cinderella Castle only for two club-level suites. At Helios Grand the Park View rooms look over Celestial Park to the Cosmos Fountain and its shows. Choose by the trip: animals for slow mornings, Magic Kingdom's fireworks at night, or Epic Universe on the doorstep.
Disney built Animal Kingdom Lodge in a horseshoe round the Arusha Savanna, with the Sunset and Uzima savannas beyond, and keeps more than 200 hoofed animals and birds of over 30 species on their 43 acres. The rooms sold as Savanna View are the ones that look onto a savanna, with giraffes and antelope grazing below the balcony or patio; the cheaper Resort View faces rooftops or the car park.
The Savanna View has the same two queen beds and the same balcony or patio as the entry room, and on Tuesday 2 February 2027 it was $740 a night before tax, $213 more. Disney sells a savanna view rather than a particular savanna, and each has its own mix of animals; the two-queen Club Level savanna room and two suites are the ones sold on the Arusha Savanna by name.
The room to book
Savanna View
$740 a night
The same two queen beds and patio or balcony as the entry room, sold facing one of the savannas instead of rooftops or the car park; couples can take the king-bed version.
The Theme Park View is the Grand Floridian's view room: the same room as the entry Resort View, in the outer lodges, with two queens or a king plus a daybed and a patio or balcony, but sold facing Magic Kingdom across Seven Seas Lagoon. The park is about a kilometre off and at an angle, beyond the monorail beams and the trees of Adventureland, and the evening fireworks go up over it. Some rooms see more of it than others; Disney names Cinderella Castle itself only for its two club-level Theme Park View suites.
The lagoon puts on a second show after dark, when the Electrical Water Pageant, a floating parade of lit-up sea creatures, passes the shore. If water alone is enough, the Water View is the smaller step: on a Tuesday in January it was $61 a night over the entry room, against $203 for the park.
The room to book
Theme Park View
$1,057 a night
The only standard room sold on Magic Kingdom, where the fireworks go up, with the same beds and patio or balcony as the entry room; the club-level version adds a lounge, not a better view.
Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a Loews Hotel, stands at the end of Celestial Park, and its Park View rooms look out across the park to the Cosmos Fountain in front of the hotel. The fountain plays water shows through the day, and at closing time Park View guests see the fountains and lights of Celestial Goodnight from the room, weather permitting.
Book the category by name. The Standard rooms face away from the park, the Pool View rooms look over the pool on the front of the hotel, and the Skyline View rooms, on the highest floors, look over the city. On Tuesday 2 February 2027 the Park View 2 Queen Beds was $785 before tax, $203 more than the Standard. The lobby's floor-to-ceiling windows look straight down Celestial Park, and Bar Helios, a round bar on the roof, has a terrace facing the park.

Park View 2 Queen Beds
about 325 sq ft (30 m²)$785 a night
The entry room's 325 sq ft and two queen beds, with Epic Universe outside the window instead of the back-of-house side of the site; couples can take the Park View 1 King Bed.
Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort sells its Park View Rooms, on the 6th to 16th floors, on the nightly Disney fireworks from a furnished terrace, and Capa's 17th-floor terrace faces the Magic Kingdom fireworks.
Every room at The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes has a private balcony, and the Lake View rooms look over the lake and the golf course to the Orlando skyline.
From about $480 a night
Questions people ask
Good questions about Orlando
Which Orlando hotel rooms have a view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks?
At Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, the Theme Park View rooms are sold on a view of Magic Kingdom across Seven Seas Lagoon, about a kilometre away at an angle, where the fireworks go up each evening; other guests watch from the marina by Gasparilla Island Grill, where the show's soundtrack plays. At Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort, the Park View Rooms on the 6th to 16th floors are sold on the nightly fireworks, and Capa's 17th-floor terrace faces them.
Can you see giraffes from your room at Animal Kingdom Lodge?
Book a Savanna View room and the balcony or patio faces one of the lodge's three savannas, where giraffes and antelope graze. Disney sells a savanna view, not a particular savanna or particular animals, and each savanna has its own mix. The Resort View rooms face rooftops or the car park and the Water View rooms the pool. Every guest can still watch the animals from the Hakuna Matata playground and from Sanaa at Kidani Village, nine minutes' walk away.
Which Grand Floridian rooms have a view of Cinderella Castle?
Disney names the castle only for two suites with club-level access: the one-bedroom Theme Park View suite, with a king bed and a queen sleeper sofa, and the two-bedroom version, with a king and two queens. The standard Theme Park View rooms are sold on a view of Magic Kingdom, about a kilometre away at an angle, beyond the monorail beams and the trees of Adventureland, so some see more of the park than others; ask at check-in for the clearest view.
Can you see the Epic Universe fireworks from Helios Grand?
The Park View rooms at Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a Loews Hotel, are sold on the fountains rather than the fireworks, which go up behind the hotel. From the room you look across Celestial Park to the Cosmos Fountain, which plays water shows through the day and, at closing time, the fountains and lights of Celestial Goodnight, weather permitting. Bar Helios, a round bar on the roof, has a terrace facing the park.
Is a view room worth the extra in Orlando?
At these three, the step up is about $200 a night and buys the view each hotel was built for, in the same room. On Tuesday 2 February 2027 the Savanna View at Animal Kingdom Lodge was $213 more than the Resort View, and Helios Grand's Park View 2 Queen Beds $203 more than the Standard. On a Tuesday in January the Grand Floridian's Theme Park View was $203 more than its Resort View, and the Water View, over the lagoon, $61 more.
How did you choose these hotels?
Independently, through extensive research, trusted sources and first-hand visits. Hotels cannot pay to be included, and every one of the ten has to exist for a different reason.
