Why this one

The sea is the reason to stay out here, and the Onice Sea View Room is the cheapest category that guarantees it: 32 m² in the new wing, a queen bed or two singles, a shower and a small balcony facing the Atlantic. For 9 to 11 February 2027, with breakfast and at least 30 days' notice, it was 292 euros a night. The palace's equivalent, the Manor House Ocean Front Room, was 607 for 27 m², a shower and no balcony that the hotel mentions. On the flexible rate the gap was 324 against 675, and for 20 to 22 April 2027, when the early-booking rate no longer applies, 366 against 675. That is roughly 300 to 350 euros a night for plasterwork.

The ladder is really two ladders. The Onice wing runs from the 28 m² Onice Room at 206 euros, through a balcony with day beds for 17 more, to the sea or a garden terrace at 292, and tops out with the Onice Sea View Suite at 950. The palace starts higher: the Manor House Room was 402 in February, with a view the category does not fix, the Garden Suite 556, the Ocean Front Room 607 and the two 48 m² sea-facing suites 855. On the flexible rate the palace suites and the Ocean Front Room cost the same in April as in February, while the Onice rooms and the Manor House Room rise by 40 to 50 euros, which is why the gap is widest in winter.

Ask for
Ask for the confirmation to name the Onice Sea View Room and its balcony, since guests report being moved to lesser rooms. If you want a bath, the only ones are in the Manor House Garden Suite and two of the three Manor House Rooms; every Onice room has a shower. Travelling with a child over three, ask for the Onice Sea View Room connecting to an Onice Room or an Onice Terrace Room rather than paying for the suite.
Avoid
The Onice Room if the sea is why you came: it is the entry category and the hotel names no view for it. The Manor House Room if you are paying for the Atlantic, because the same category covers garden-facing rooms. And the Manor House Ocean Front Room unless the palace itself is the point: on the February dates it cost 315 euros a night more than the Onice Sea View Room for five fewer square metres and no balcony that the hotel mentions.

Suites against rooms

The palace has three suites, and the one to book is the Vila Foz Suite: 48 m², separate living and sleeping areas, a king bed or two singles, and the only balcony the hotel describes in the old house, over the sea. It was 855 euros a night on the February early-booking rate and 950 flexible, the same as the Manor House Ocean Front Suite in the attic, which has the view but no balcony that the hotel mentions. For less, the Manor House Garden Suite, 40 m² with a bath, was 556 and faces the garden.

The Onice Sea View Suite is the family suite: 60 to 70 m², two balconies and two bathrooms, and the only category the hotel will sell with a child aged three to fifteen, at 1,010 euros a night for two adults and one child on the February dates. It is not offered on the early-booking rate.

Our verdict

The seaside option in this edit, with a starred kitchen and a real spa to make the distance worth it. Choose Foz on purpose, not as a compromise on the centre.
