4.7/5

About 3,400 reviews on GetYourGuide

The whole island in one coach day: the lava caves of the north, the cliffs over La Graciosa, Haría, La Geria and Timanfaya's Fire Mountains, with pickup from the main resorts. Rated 4.7 by about 3,400 guests. Book the option with all three entries.

The day starts early. The operator's own timetable for this route collects from Playa Blanca from 07:50 and from Puerto del Carmen, Arrecife, Playa Honda and Costa Teguise by about 08:40, then drives north, with one guide speaking English and Spanish. The first stops are the two great caves of the La Corona lava tube, which runs for more than seven kilometres to the sea. Cueva de los Verdes is a guided walk of about a kilometre through its galleries, lit by the artist Jesús Soto and open since 1964. Jameos del Agua, next door, is the first of César Manrique's centres, opened in 1968: a lake where blind white crabs live in the dark, and a white pool under palms where the tube's roof fell in.

Then the north of the island from above. The coach climbs to the cliffs at Mirador de Guinate for the view across the strait to La Graciosa, and down into Haría, the valley the operator calls the valley of the 1,000 palms, where there is free time for lunch at your own cost. In the afternoon it crosses La Geria, the wine country where vines grow behind low semicircular stone walls against the wind, for a taste of wine at a local producer, and enters Timanfaya National Park. There is a stop at the camel station, then Montañas del Fuego: on the Islote de Hilario, park staff pour water into the ground and it comes back as steam, and the park's own coach drives the Ruta de los Volcanes, about 14 kilometres and 35 minutes through the craters of the eruptions of 1730 to 1736. The last stop is the green lagoon of El Golfo, the Charco de los Clicos, and the operator puts the return at about 17:30.

The listing sells the same day three ways: without entries, from 51 euros, with two entries, or with all three. At the official prices of the Cabildo's tourist centres, read on 26 October 2026, an adult pays 30 euros for Montañas del Fuego, 17 for Jameos del Agua and 17 for Cueva de los Verdes: 64 euros, with children aged 7 to 12 at half price and under-7s free. Montañas del Fuego and the Cueva sell only online, for a set time slot; with the entries in the price, the operator holds the slots and the listing says you go in by a separate entrance. That is what the tour is worth paying for: three timed visits at opposite ends of the island, joined up in one day without a hire car.

Why this one

On GetYourGuide on 26 October 2026 this tour was rated 4.7 from about 3,400 reviews, the highest rating and the most reviews of the four full-day island coach tours we compared. The Timanfaya Park, Jameos del Agua and Cueva de los Verdes tour was rated 4.5 from about 2,900 reviews, from 89 euros; the Timanfaya Park and Jameos del Agua tour, which visits Timanfaya, El Golfo and Jameos but not the Cueva, 4.5 from about 2,100, from 87 euros; and the Volcanos of Timanfaya and Caves tour, which includes lunch, 4.5 from about 590, from 95 euros. Compare them like for like: this tour's 51 euros is the price without entries, so pick the option with all three and read its price in the calendar. The operator also sells a three-entry day on this route on its own site, the Gran Tour Exclusivo, at 100 euros for adults, 96 if booked there, with nothing to pay when you book.

If you have a hire car, you can do the same sights yourself for the 64 euros of entries, at your own pace, as long as you book the timed slots online. If you want to walk on the lava rather than see it from the coach, book the guided Timanfaya hike; for Manrique's house and the Cactus Garden, the César Manrique day; to land on the island you see from the cliffs, the La Graciosa catamaran; and for a proper tasting rather than a glass on the way, El Grifo's wine tasting.

Good for

  • A first visit, with no hire car
  • Seeing the north's caves and Timanfaya in one day
  • Families: at the official prices under-7s go in free and 7 to 12s pay half

Not for

  • Anyone with limited mobility: the cave has stairs, narrow passages and low ceilings
  • Walkers who want to stand on the lava: the park coach does not stop
  • Anyone who prefers a slow day: nine hours, with short stops

When to go

What mid-afternoon is like at Montañas del Fuego, where the tour reaches Timanfaya, month by month: modelled for the Islote de Hilario at 15:00 from five years of historical weather, 2021 to 2025.

Temperature is the median at 15:00 on the Islote de Hilario, with the coolest day in ten after it. Clear sky is the share of days with little cloud at 15:00; gusty, the share with gusts over 50 km/h at that hour; rain, the share of days with 1 mm of rain or more. Modelled from Open-Meteo's historical weather.

Summer is the windy season

Rain is rare here: even in March, the wettest month in the data, three days in four stay dry. Wind is the thing to dress for. In the model, gusts pass 50 km/h at 15:00 on 6 days in 10 in June and nearly 8 in 10 in July, which you will feel on the cliffs at Guinate. Take a layer and keep a hand on your hat.

From our Lanzarote hotels

Drive times are routed from each hotel in our Lanzarote edit to Cueva de los Verdes, the first stop of the day, to show how far the coach goes before you get off: 61 minutes by road from the two Playa Blanca hotels, before the other pickups. The listing collects from Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise, Arrecife and Playa Honda, which covers six of our hotels; the exact time and stop come by email after booking. From Puerto Calero, La Geria, Teguise or Haría, ask the operator for the nearest pickup point when you book.

What guests keep saying

Recurring themes in the tour’s reviews, in our words, never quoted.

Praised

  • A lot of the island for the money, compared with taxis or a day of driving
  • Comfortable, well-run transport, the part of the day guests score highest
  • The sights themselves: Jameos del Agua, the cave and the drive through the craters

Complaints

  • A brisk pace, with the commentary shared between Spanish and English

The catch

  1. The 51-euro price has no entries

The from-price is the option without tickets. On that option you can still pay for an entry on the coach, the operator says, but at the official prices the three sites cost an adult 64 euros on top.

What to do. Book the option with all three entries, or two if you will skip the cave, and compare its price with the 64 euros the entries cost at the gate.

  2. Nobody gets off on the Volcano Route

In Timanfaya the park's own coach drives the Ruta de los Volcanes and no one leaves it, on this tour or any other. The stop on foot is the Islote de Hilario, for the geothermal demonstrations.

What to do. Have a camera ready on the coach, and if you want to walk on the lava, add the guided Timanfaya hike on another day.

  3. Lunch is yours to buy

The tour stops in Haría for free time at lunch, at your own cost. On its own site the operator offers a buffet with water and wine for 12 euros extra.

What to do. Bring water, a snack for the morning and some cash for lunch and the optional camel ride.

  4. The cave is a walk down, not a stroll

Cueva de los Verdes is about a kilometre on foot over 50 minutes, with stairs, narrow passages and low ceilings; the Cabildo says it is not accessible for people with reduced mobility, warns anyone over 1.80 metres to mind their head, and does not allow pushchairs.

What to do. Wear shoes with grip, bring a baby carrier, and with bad knees take the two-entry option and spend that time at Jameos del Agua.

  5. Two languages on one coach

The listing runs in English and Spanish, and some guests say the commentary goes back and forth quickly between the two.

What to do. Sit near the front, and ask the guide to repeat anything you missed at the next stop.

Questions people ask

Good questions about Lanzarote in one day: Timanfaya, the lava caves and the north

On 26 October 2026 the official adult prices were 30 euros for Montañas del Fuego in Timanfaya, 17 for Jameos del Agua and 17 for Cueva de los Verdes, 64 in all. Children aged 7 to 12 pay half and under-7s go in free.

Is the tour suitable for children?

Yes for children who can manage a long day: the listing has child prices from 2 to 12. Pushchairs are not allowed in Cueva de los Verdes, so bring a baby carrier.
