La Graciosa is the small island off Lanzarote's northern tip, across a narrow strait. Since the 2018 reform of the Canary Islands' Statute of Autonomy it is named in law alongside the seven main islands, administratively attached to Lanzarote, which is why it is called the eighth island. Líneas Romero, the ferry company that runs this trip, says it has fewer than 800 inhabitants and no roads. The sea around it has been a marine reserve since 1995: about 70,700 hectares round La Graciosa and the islets to the north, the largest marine reserve in Spain's national network, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

The day runs in the order the operator lists it. A coach collects you near your hotel and drives to Órzola, the fishing village at the north end of Lanzarote, for the 11:00 ferry. The crossing to Caleta de Sebo, La Graciosa's harbour village, takes about 25 minutes, and you have free time there before boarding the catamaran at the dock. A mojito and a tapa of papas arrugadas with mojo are waiting on board. The catamaran in the listing's photos carries the trip's own name, I Love La Graciosa, on its hull.

It sails along the island's south coast towards Montaña Amarilla, with the cliffs of Lanzarote across the water, and anchors near Playa Francesa. There you swim off the boat or take a kayak out, while the crew serve paella or pasta, then fresh fruit, with unlimited beer, sangria, soft drinks and water. GetYourGuide's listing adds snorkelling to the water activities and free Wi-Fi on the ferry. The catamaran sails back to Caleta de Sebo, the ferry takes you to Órzola, and the coach returns you to your pickup point. The operator gives about six hours for the whole trip.

On 26 October 2026 the return ferry alone cost 29 euros for a non-resident adult on Líneas Romero's own site. The other 37 euros of this trip buy the coach both ways, the catamaran, lunch and the bar, which is why it is one of the easiest ways to see La Graciosa without a car or a timetable to manage.

Why this one

Several companies sell a La Graciosa boat day, and this is the one we would book. On GetYourGuide on 26 October 2026 it was rated 4.6 from about 2,100 reviews, from 66 euros, more reviews than any other La Graciosa catamaran day we found there. The nearest rival, a six-hour sailing catamaran day round La Graciosa with lunch and pickup, was rated 4.4 from about 1,200 reviews, from 72 euros. Líneas Romero's own site charged the same 66 euros for adults and 45 for children; GetYourGuide adds free cancellation and the reviews in one place, so book where you prefer.

If you want to walk La Graciosa rather than swim off it, the same company's return ferry with bus pickup was 40 euros on GetYourGuide, rated 4.6 from about 380 reviews, and a 2.5-hour jeep tour of the island from Caleta de Sebo was 55 euros, rated 4.4 from about 210. With a hire car, the ferry from Órzola is 29 euros return. If you are staying in Playa Blanca and want a boat day without the drive north, Papagayo, under sail, leaves from the south of the island, and Papagayo, by kayak, puts you on those beaches under your own power.

Good for

  • Families: children aged 3 to 11 paid 45 euros on the operator's site, and under-3s go free
  • Anyone staying in Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen, Puerto Calero, Arrecife or Playa Blanca
  • Seeing La Graciosa without a hire car or a ferry timetable to manage

Not for

  • Anyone after a quiet sail in July or August, when the boat is busy and lively
  • Guests in Haría, Teguise or La Geria, which are outside the listed pickup points
  • Walkers who want a day on La Graciosa's beaches: take the ferry and explore on foot

Modelled from Open-Meteo's historical weather, 2021 to 2025, and marine history, 2022 to 2025. Air temperature is the median at 14:00, with the coldest day in ten after it; sea, the median sea temperature at midday; gusty, the share of days with gusts over 50 km/h at 14:00. We do not show wave heights: the nearest point in the sea model is open Atlantic north of the island, not the strait where the boat anchors.

Warm water, summer wind

The sea is warmest from August to November, around 22°C at midday. The trade wind is strongest in summer: in the five years we looked at, gusts passed 50 km/h at 14:00 on 59% of July days, against 18% in October. Autumn gives the warmest sea with the least wind.

From our Lanzarote hotels

Drive times are routed to Órzola harbour, where the ferry to La Graciosa leaves at 11:00. The coach collects from listed points in Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen, Puerto Calero, Arrecife and Costa Teguise, stopping on the way, so allow longer than these times; the operator says it cannot pick up outside its listed points. The hotels nearest Órzola are the ones outside the pickup area.

What guests keep saying

Recurring themes in the tour’s reviews, in our words, never quoted.

Praised

  • Swimming off the boat in clear, turquoise water
  • A friendly crew who keep the day lively, with music and dancing on the way back
  • Transport that links up: coach, ferry and catamaran, each scored highly by guests

Complaints

  • A full boat in high season, with less room to sit

The catch

  1. Check your hotel is on the pickup list

The coach collects only from listed points in Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen, Puerto Calero, Arrecife and Costa Teguise. The operator says it cannot pick up outside them and sends the details by email and text before the day.

What to do. Choose the listed point nearest your hotel when you book, and read the message the day before. From Haría, Órzola is 19 minutes by car.

  2. It is a long day from the south

Órzola is at the far north of the island: 68 minutes by car from Playa Blanca on our routing, and longer by coach with stops. The operator gives about six hours for the trip, and the ferry leaves Órzola at 11:00.

What to do. From Playa Blanca, book it for a day with nothing else planned, or choose Papagayo, under sail, which leaves from the south.

  3. A lively boat, not a quiet one

There is music on board and the crew dance on the way back. The operator says its catamarans sail at no more than 75% of capacity, and itself suggests going outside the peak season for fewer passengers.

What to do. For more room, book outside July and August, and claim a spot on deck early.

  4. Bring your own mask

GetYourGuide lists snorkelling, but the operator's own page names only swimming and kayaking and does not list snorkel gear among what is included.

What to do. If snorkelling matters, pack a mask and snorkel, or ask the operator when you book.

  5. Summer is the windy season

In the five years of weather we looked at, gusts passed 50 km/h at 14:00 off Playa Francesa on 59% of July days, against 18% in October. If poor weather cancels the trip, you are offered another date or a full refund.

What to do. Book early in your stay so a windy day leaves room to move it, and bring a layer for the ferry.
