The day starts early in Victoria. Golden Tours, which runs the tour, asks you to check in at 07:30 at its Stop Z6, outside 50 Grosvenor Gardens, for an 08:00 departure on a coach with a live guide. Windsor comes first, about 50 minutes and 35 km away by our routing. The operator describes Windsor Castle as the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, home to the monarchy for over 900 years; with a Windsor ticket you walk the State Apartments, with the Waterloo Chamber and paintings by Leonardo and Rembrandt, see Queen Mary's Dolls' House with its working lifts, and St George's Chapel, where Elizabeth II is buried. In winter the operator says five more rooms, the Semi-State Rooms, join the route. On Thursdays and Saturdays the operator says the Changing of the Guard takes place; the Royal Borough's tourism office says the parade begins at 11:00 and lasts about 30 minutes, weather permitting.

Then the coach heads west across Salisbury Plain to Stonehenge, about 110 km and just under 2 hours by our routing. The operator says the stones have stood there for around 5,000 years; the English Heritage visitor centre has 250 objects found in the landscape and reconstructed Neolithic houses outside, and the operator suggests downloading English Heritage's Stonehenge Audio Tour app before you go. Your Golden Tours wristband gets 25 per cent off the guidebook there.

Bath is about an hour further on. With a Roman Baths ticket you see the hot springs and the Great Bath (no one bathes there now) and can taste the spa water in the Pump Room; then, the operator says, there is free time if the clock allows for Bath Abbey, Pulteney Bridge and the Royal Crescent. The coach returns about 20:00, but not to Victoria: for drivers' legal working hours, the operator says, it ends within a 2 or 3 minute walk of Gloucester Road station, three stops from Victoria on the Circle or District line.

It is a long day: by our routing the four legs add up to about 6 hours of driving without traffic, so the three sights share roughly the other 6. Golden Tours does not publish the time at each stop. What it buys you is all three, guided, with no trains or hire car to arrange.

Why this one

This is the most-reviewed Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath day on GetYourGuide. On 7 November 2026 it was rated 4.5 from about 6,100 reviews, from 85.19 euros, and GetYourGuide flagged it as a bestseller. Golden Tours sells the same day on its own site from £71.10, in options with no entries (Essential), Windsor and Stonehenge (Essential Plus), Stonehenge and the Roman Baths (Classic), or all three (Classic Plus), with Signature options adding premium seats and a lunch pack and a Luxury coach with drinks on board; its site also runs the day in Spanish on Fridays and Sundays, Mandarin on Thursdays and Saturdays and Japanese on Mondays and Saturdays from September to March. The closest rivals on GetYourGuide that day: Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Bath Full-Day Tour, 4.4 from about 3,700 reviews at 85.19 euros; Stonehenge, Windsor, and Bath Day Trip by Bus, 4.5 from about 1,400 at 85.19 euros; and Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath with 14th-Century Pub, 4.6 from about 840 at 94.66 euros, for those who want a pub stop.

If three sights in a day sounds like too much, two shorter days rate higher. The Stonehenge and Bath Day Trip with Entry Ticket was rated 4.8 from about 3,300 reviews at 101.85 euros, dropping Windsor for more time in Bath; the Stonehenge Morning Day Trip with Admission, 4.8 from about 4,100 at 79.08 euros, is back by mid-afternoon. For the stones up close, the Stonehenge Inner Circle and Windsor Day Trip, 4.9 from about 440 reviews, cost from 226.46 euros. Closer to town, the Harry Potter studios are a shorter day out with a coach from central London, and the Tower and the Crown Jewels give you royal history without leaving the city.

Good for

  • First-time visitors who want Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath without hiring a car
  • Anyone short on days in London who would rather see three sights briefly than one well
  • Travellers happy with a long, guided coach day and an early start

Not for

  • Anyone who wants hours inside Windsor Castle or Bath: book a two-stop day instead
  • Young children or anyone who finds 6 hours on a coach hard going
  • Tuesday or Wednesday travellers set on the castle: it is closed those days

Modelled from historical weather (Open-Meteo, 2021 to 2025) for Stonehenge. Sunset is the median local time. Temperature is the median at 13:00, with the coldest day in ten after it. Rain is the share of days with 1 mm or more; gusty, the share of days with gusts over 50 km/h at 13:00.

In winter, Bath comes after dark

In the data we looked at, the sun set at Stonehenge at about 16:03 in December and 16:22 in November, against about 21:15 in July, so from November to February the Bath stop runs into the evening. The Stonehenge plain is exposed: the coldest day in ten at 13:00 was 2.5°C in January. Wear warm layers in winter and plan to see Bath's streets in the light from April to September.

What guests keep saying

Recurring themes in the tour’s reviews, in our words, never quoted.

Praised

  • Guides who keep a long day on time and explain each place on the road
  • Three famous sights in one day, with no trains or driving to plan
  • A comfortable coach and an easy start in central London

Complaints

  • Time at each stop is short, Bath most of all

The catch

  1. Book a Thursday to Monday for the castle

Windsor Castle is closed every Tuesday and Wednesday and from 24 to 26 December; on those days the tour does a guided walk of Windsor town instead.

What to do. Pick a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Monday if the State Apartments matter to you. On a Tuesday or Wednesday, book an option without Windsor entry, as the operator asks.

  2. Sunday means no St George's Chapel

St George's Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays for services, so you cannot see the burial place of Elizabeth II that day.

What to do. Go Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Monday to see the chapel; on Thursdays and Saturdays you may also catch the Changing of the Guard at 11:00.

  3. Choose the option with your entries

The day is sold with no entries, with two sites or with all three, and the from price is the cheapest option on the date.

What to do. If you want inside Windsor Castle and the Roman Baths, choose the option that includes them (Classic Plus on Golden Tours' own site) rather than paying at the door.

  4. Plan for brief stops

By our routing the four drives add up to about 6 hours of a 12-hour day, and the operator does not publish the time at each stop.

What to do. Decide before you arrive what you most want to see in each place, and keep Bath simple: the Roman Baths and a walk to Pulteney Bridge.

  5. You come back to Gloucester Road

For drivers' legal hours, the operator says, the coach finishes near Gloucester Road station, not at Victoria where it left.

What to do. Plan dinner or the Tube from South Kensington; Gloucester Road is three stops from Victoria on the Circle or District line and on the Piccadilly line to the West End.

  6. Dress for Salisbury Plain

In the weather data we looked at, about 4 days in 10 had rain at Stonehenge in most months, and the coldest day in ten at 13:00 was 2.5°C in January.

What to do. Bring a waterproof and a warm layer from October to April, and comfortable shoes: the operator rates the walking as moderate.
