Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, MonacoMonte-Carlo Beach is the Monaco hotel for people who do not actually want to be in Monaco. It sits at the far end of Avenue Princesse Grace, technically just over the border in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, a low terracotta 1929 building on its own headland with an Olympic-length sea-water pool, a private beach and the Monte-Carlo Beach Club at its feet. Roger Séassal drew it for the Société des Bains de Mer, which still owns it, and the shape has barely changed: long, low, the colour of a Riviera villa rather than a hotel, pines behind and the water immediately in front.
India Mahdavi's 2009 redesign gave the 40 rooms a soft, sun-faded Riviera look that still holds up. She leaned into the nautical reading with blue and white stripes, rounded walls, portholes for windows and murals that nod to Cocteau. Fourteen of the 40 are suites, and every room faces the sea, which is rare in Monaco. The ladder climbs from the Exclusive Room through Junior, Loft and Duplex Suites to the Diamond Suites, and what changes is floor area and terrace rather than outlook. Villa La Vigie sits apart on the point and is let whole.
The pool and Le Deck were rebuilt for the 2025 season by Dorothée Delaye, working from the hotel's own 1930s archive, and Pascal Garrigues cooks Riviera food beside the water. The recurring praise is for the pace: quiet mornings, long lunches at Elsa, and afternoons that never require a taxi. Elsa holds one Michelin star in the 2026 guide and was the first fully organic restaurant to win one, with Marcel Ravin overseeing it, Domenico D'Antonio in the kitchen and a Jardin Marin menu built on whatever the boats bring in. In summer Maona Monte-Carlo adds Greek food and La Vigie Zanoni Monte-Carlo cooks on the point under Simone Zanoni; both reopen in spring 2027. There are padel courts, a small spa with four treatment rooms and a kids club through the summer.
It is seasonal, from mid-April to mid-October, and that is part of the appeal: it feels like a summer house, not a hotel with a summer programme. The 2026 season runs 13 April to 11 October, so winter and Christmas are off the table. The beach is a strip of fine sand, but the rooms are on the small side for the money. You are a drive or a shuttle from the casino square, not a stroll. It suits couples and honeymooners, and anyone whose Monaco ambitions extend to one evening at the casino and no more. The hotel shuttle and a seven-minute drive cover that. If you want to walk out into Monte-Carlo each night, you are in the wrong place.

The address is Avenue Princesse Grace, 06190 Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, on the headland just past Larvotto and a few hundred metres over the French border. Place du Casino is 2.5 km away, which is roughly half an hour on foot along the Larvotto promenade and about seven minutes by car. Courtesy shuttle vans move guests between the Société des Bains de Mer properties, and in season there is a sea shuttle from Port Hercule.
Nice airport is about 45 minutes by road. Bus 80, the Nice Airport Xpress, runs from Terminal 2 into Monaco in 45 to 50 minutes, and trains from Nice-Ville reach Monaco-Monte-Carlo, the underground station below the casino district, in around 23 minutes, which leaves a short taxi hop at the end. Helicopter transfers take about seven minutes. There is secure paid parking with an electric charging point, but with the shuttles running a car mostly sits there.
