The Jazz Room is Fever's own jazz night: a live band and singers working through songs most people know, in a room with low light and a bar, for about an hour. Fever runs it in many cities. In New York on 29 October 2026 it had four shows on sale at two venues: New Orleans and Marvin Gaye at The Cutting Room on East 32nd Street, and Cuba and Frank Sinatra with Louis Armstrong at Sony Hall on West 46th Street.
The evening starts before the music. At The Cutting Room the doors open 60 minutes before the start, and Fever tells you to come early, because seats inside your zone go to whoever arrives first; at Sony Hall it says to arrive 30 minutes ahead. You buy drinks, and food if you want it, at the venue's own bar and kitchen. The shows we saw start at 18:30, with a second house at 20:30 at The Cutting Room and 21:00 at Sony Hall. Once the band begins the doors close and no one else gets in.
Then the set. Fever lists the songs: St. James Infirmary, Basin Street Blues and Hello Dolly for New Orleans; Let's Get It On and What's Going On for Marvin Gaye; Chan Chan and Guantanamera for Cuba; Fly Me to the Moon and What a Wonderful World for Sinatra and Armstrong. Fever says the band mixes chosen classics with improvisation, with saxophone, trumpet and vocals. These are tributes by other musicians, as Fever says on every listing: no one is pretending to be Marvin Gaye.
The two rooms are different nights out. The Cutting Room opened in 1999 and has been at 44 East 32nd Street since 2013: a supper club of candlelit tables in front of a stage, with a balcony, which Fever describes as serving craft cocktails and upscale American food. Sony Hall, a block from Times Square, opened as the Diamond Horseshoe in 1938 and reopened in 2018; its own site gives 500 seated or 1,000 standing, and its cheapest Jazz Room zone is standing room.
Why this one
Book New Orleans at The Cutting Room. It is the most traditional jazz programme of the four, it plays two nights, 4 December 2026 and 12 February 2027, and every ticket there is a seat, with the cheapest, the balcony, at 32.40 dollars with fees on 29 October 2026. The Marvin Gaye show in the same room, 6 December 2026 to 30 January 2027, is the pick if you would rather hear soul than jazz. The Fifth Avenue Hotel is an 8-minute walk away. Sony Hall has the grander room and the lower entry price, from 24.30 dollars for the Sinatra and Armstrong show and 27 dollars for Cuba, but those are standing-room tickets, and each show has a single date: Cuba on 22 November 2026, Sinatra and Armstrong on 24 January 2027. Sinatra and Armstrong is the only one of the four with reviews on Fever, 4.3 from 63 on 29 October 2026; the others had none yet.
Be straight with yourself about what you want. If you want working jazz musicians playing their own music, with long solos and named headliners, a classic jazz club suits you better: Birdland, at 315 West 44th Street two blocks from Sony Hall, listed tickets from about 35 to 61 dollars on 29 October 2026, plus a 20-dollar food or drink minimum per person per set; the Village Vanguard has been at 178 Seventh Avenue South since 1935. The case for The Jazz Room is the hour itself: songs you know, an 18:30 start that leaves the evening free for dinner, and a seat for about 32 dollars. For music by candlelight in a church, see our Candlelight concerts page; for a night that is more game than gig, The Jury Experience.

Complaints
The catch
Seats go first come, first served within your zone
Your ticket buys a zone, not a seat. Seats are not numbered, and Fever says a group sits together only if it arrives together with tickets in the same zone.
What to do. Buy all your tickets in one zone and arrive together; at The Cutting Room the doors open 60 minutes before the start.
Late entry is not allowed
Fever says the doors close when the show begins and no one is let in after that.
What to do. Allow for the subway or traffic and aim to be inside 30 minutes before the start.
The cheapest Sony Hall ticket is standing room
Zone C at Sony Hall, the 24.30 and 27 dollar tickets, is standing room. At The Cutting Room the cheapest zone is a balcony seat.
What to do. If you want to sit for the hour, buy Zone B or above at Sony Hall, or book The Cutting Room.
Plan on changing, not cancelling
Fever's FAQs say tickets are not refundable but can be moved to another date or time up to 48 hours before, subject to availability, while the booking panel showed free cancellation up to 48 hours before on 29 October 2026.
What to do. Check the terms shown at checkout for your ticket, and contact Fever at least 48 hours ahead if your plans change.
The ticket is only the start of the bill
Prices on Fever include its 8% booking fee, but drinks and food are bought at the venue, and Sony Hall's own FAQ lists a 20-dollar per person food and drink minimum at tables.
What to do. Budget for a drink or two each, and eat before or after if you are watching the spend.
