  • Duration: 1 hourStart times show in the calendar

The Jury Experience is a piece of courtroom theatre that Fever produces itself. You arrive, are shown to a seat in the zone you paid for, and the room becomes the jury box. A judge presides, a prosecution and a defence put their case, and witnesses take the stand. Fever says each case is inspired by true events and built to twist; the trial runs for about 60 minutes.

The audience does the deciding. A QR code is shown in the room; you scan it with your own phone and it opens a voting page. Fever says you vote at key moments, and those votes steer how the trial goes, before the final question: guilty or not guilty. The jury has the last word, so the ending depends on the room you are in. Phones stay on silent the rest of the time, and photos are allowed only once the verdict is in, at the curtain call, without flash.

New York has two cases in its listings on 29 October 2026. The Deadly Boat Ride: a politician's son takes the family speedboat out on a summer night with an ex-lover and old friends aboard, and by morning one is dead, one is in a coma and he faces a murder charge. The Killer AI: a driverless car has killed someone, and the jury must decide whether the programmer, the passenger or the machine answers for it. Fever's own content notes differ. The boat case may touch on crime, violence, grief, substance use, domestic violence, medical injury and emotional manipulation; the AI case lists a fatal vehicle accident, injury, grief and loss.

Two of the three dates are at Roulette, a nonprofit performance space founded in 1978 that now has a 12,000 square foot theatre in the YWCA of Brooklyn building on Atlantic Avenue, with a balcony. The third is at the New York Society for Ethical Culture, an Art Nouveau meeting house with a circular hall at 2 West 64th Street, just off Central Park West. Ages are 12 and over, with under-16s accompanied by an adult. There is no food or drink on sale and no outside food allowed in.

Why this one

The one we would book is The Killer AI at Roulette. It has the most dates, 19 December 2026 and 23 January 2027, two shows each, from 49.68 dollars with fees in the balcony and 56.16 in Zone C. Its content notes are the milder of the two cases, a fatal accident, injury and grief, which makes it the one to take a teenager to. It has no New York reviews yet, but the same case held 4.5 from 369 reviews in Philadelphia on Fever on 29 October 2026. Roulette is a modern theatre with a step-free entrance, a few minutes' walk from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, which Roulette says is served by the 2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q and R trains and the Long Island Rail Road.

If you want the classic murder case, choose The Deadly Boat Ride, but know it is one case sold under two names. It plays Roulette on 6 November 2026, the only New York date with reviews, 4.6 from 30 on Fever on 29 October 2026, from about 41 dollars in the balcony. On 9 January 2027 it returns as Death on the Port Side at the Society for Ethical Culture, from 56.16 dollars with no balcony; the round meeting house is a 14-minute walk from The Plaza. Its content notes are heavier, including substance use and domestic violence. If you want a whole night out with dinner, Fever's Speakeasy, Die Softly murder mystery at Carmine's starts at 139.95 dollars; for something calmer, see our pages on Candlelight concerts or The Jazz Room.

What guests keep saying

Recurring themes in the tour’s reviews, in our words, never quoted.

Praised

  • Voting several times during the trial, not just once at the end
  • Actors who hold the room, the prosecution included
  • More involvement from the audience than people expected

Complaints

  • A start that ran a little late on one night

The catch

  1. Two listings, one case

Death on the Port Side at the Society for Ethical Culture is The Deadly Boat Ride under another name: Fever's page for it has the same case and story. Only The Killer AI is a different trial.

What to do. Book one date of the boat case at most, and The Killer AI if you want a second trial.

  2. Your seat depends on when you arrive

Seats are not numbered. Staff seat people within the zone they paid for, first come, first served, and doors close 5 minutes before the start with no late entry.

What to do. Arrive 30 minutes early, as Fever asks, and you choose from the best of your zone.

  3. You vote on your own phone

Voting runs through a QR code shown in the room, which opens a page on your phone; the rest of the time it must stay on silent.

What to do. Charge your phone, check that its camera reads QR codes, and keep your data on.

  4. Read the refund terms at checkout

On 29 October 2026 the booking panel on all three listings showed free cancellation up to 48 hours before, while the FAQs on the same pages said refunds are not available and gave date changes up to 48 or 24 hours ahead.

What to do. Book once your date is fixed; if plans change, transfer the ticket free in the Fever app or ask Fever for a date change in time.

  5. Eat first, and use the restroom before

There is no food or drink on sale, outside food is not allowed, and once the trial starts you cannot leave your seat except in an emergency.

What to do. Have dinner before or plan it for after: the 16:00 show at Roulette is out around 17:00.
