4.8/5

About 310 reviews on GetYourGuide

You meet the crew outside the brasserie bar of the Hotel Covo dei Saraceni, at Via Regina Giovanna 5, beside Positano's main pier and the Spiaggia Grande, about 20 minutes before the start. The start time is set by the sunset, so it moves through the season; the listing says you get a call from the operator's office on the morning of the cruise to confirm it. The boats are Luxury Boats Positano's own motor yachts, and the operator's page for this shared tour gives up to 12 people on board, with an English-speaking captain.

The route runs east along the coast. The operator describes it as a photo cruise: past the coves and small beaches below the road to Praiano, the fishing village with the majolica dome of its church, and on to the Fiordo di Furore, the narrow gorge cut into the cliff where the coast road crosses on a bridge high above the sea. The boat slows for photographs at each, then turns back so that you see Positano from the water at dusk, which is the point of the evening.

On board, GetYourGuide lists a minibar with water, soft drinks and prosecco, crisps and peanuts, Wi-Fi, speakers you can play your own music through, and safety equipment for adults and children. Cocktails, champagne, dinner, a chef, a cake or flowers are extras the operator can arrange, not part of the price. The operator's own page adds beer, and says you are welcome to bring other drinks.

It is a short trip with no swim stop, and that is its appeal: 90 minutes, no early start, and back in Positano in time for dinner. In the weather data we looked at, the sun sets over Positano at about 20:30 in June and July and about 19:10 in mid-September, and July evenings were clear at sunset nine times in ten.

Why this one

On GetYourGuide on 27 October 2026 this cruise was rated 4.8 from about 310 reviews, from 70 euros, with the guide scored 4.9 out of 5 and value 4.8, and GetYourGuide marked it top rated. It is the shared sunset boat that leaves from Positano itself: if you are staying in Positano, you walk down to it and walk home. Luxury Boats Positano sells the same shared tour on its own site from 70 euros too, so there is nothing to save by booking direct, and GetYourGuide's free cancellation up to 24 hours before is the easier set of terms.

The closest rival is the Amalfi or Positano sunset cruise with prosecco, rated 4.8 from about 570 reviews, from 120 euros for 2 to 2.5 hours, with a swim stop and limoncello: the one to book if you want to get in the water, or if you are staying in Amalfi. The Positano sunset cruise on a traditional gozzo with an aperitivo was cheaper, from 60 euros, but rated 4.5 from 40 reviews. For a boat to yourselves, the operator's private sunset tour starts at 450 euros. And if you want a whole day on the water with swimming and snorkelling, book Amalfi Coast and Positano small-boat trip with snorkelling instead; for a paddle into the sea caves, Kayak and snorkel to Pandora's Cave from Minori.

Good for

  • Couples and friends who want an easy evening on the water
  • Anyone staying in Positano, who can walk to the pier and back
  • Photographers after Positano and the coast in the last light

Not for

  • Swimmers: there is no swim stop
  • Guests prone to seasickness, or with back problems or limited mobility, as the listing says
  • Anyone visiting from October to March: the calendar opens in April

June to August are the clear evenings

In the weather data we looked at, the sky over Positano was clear at sunset on 90 evenings in 100 in July, 77 in August and 66 in June, against fewer than half in April and May. The sea was calm on almost every summer evening. April and May are cooler: the air at sunset had a median of 13.1°C in April and 17.3°C in May.

From our Amalfi Coast hotels

Drive times are routed to Piazza dei Mulini, the lowest point of Positano that cars and taxis reach, and from there it is a 5-minute walk down to the pier where the cruise meets. Palazzo Murat and Le Sirenuse are walks, not drives: about 5 and 10 minutes down to the pier, and uphill home; Il San Pietro runs a free shuttle into Positano. The drive times match our hotel pages. There is no pickup. The coast road is slow in summer traffic, so treat the longer times as about, and plan your way back before you book: the cruise ends after sunset.

What guests keep saying

Recurring themes in the tour’s reviews, in our words, never quoted.

Praised

  • A friendly captain and crew who keep the music and the prosecco going
  • Positano and the coast seen from the water as the light goes, with stops for photographs
  • Good value for an hour and a half with drinks, which guests score 4.8 out of 5

Complaints

  • The photo stops are brief, and a few evenings set off late

The catch

  1. Book through GetYourGuide for the easy cancellation

On GetYourGuide the cruise cancels free up to 24 hours before. The operator's own note in the listing sets out much stricter terms for its direct bookings, with charges from 19 days out; both agree on a full refund if bad weather cancels and no other date works.

What to do. Book on GetYourGuide, and check the cancellation line in your confirmation.

  2. The start time moves with the sun

The cruise is timed to the sunset, so it leaves earlier in April and September than in June, and the listing says departure times can shift in the shoulder months.

What to do. Check the time on your booking, answer the operator's morning call, and be at the pier 20 minutes early.

  3. Look for the crew at the bar, not on the quay

You meet outside the brasserie bar of the Hotel Covo dei Saraceni, by the main pier, rather than at a ticket kiosk.

What to do. Find the hotel by the pier on your first afternoon, and keep the operator's number from your confirmation to hand.

  4. A cruise past the sights, not a stop at them

This is a 90-minute photo cruise: the boat slows at Praiano and the Furore fjord, and there is no swim and no time ashore.

What to do. For a swim, book the Amalfi Coast and Positano small-boat trip with snorkelling by day, or the 2 to 2.5-hour sunset cruise with a swim stop from 120 euros.

  5. Bring a layer in April and May

In the weather data we looked at, the air at sunset off Positano had a median of 13.1°C in April and 17.3°C in May, and one evening in ten was below 10°C in April. On a moving boat it feels colder.

What to do. Pack a jacket or a sweater for spring sailings.
