Why this one

Every room at Hotel Faro is a double with a king-size bed and a balcony or terrace, and the ladder is about one thing: how much of the sea the balcony faces. The hotel sells it in three steps. The Double Deluxe and the Deluxe Adapted face the mountains, the garden and the street. The Double Superior has the Double Deluxe's 35 m² plan and a side view of the sea, towards the lighthouse, along the beach to the distant dunes or over the boulevard, depending on the side. The Double Superior View and the Junior Suite face the Atlantic straight ahead, which is the reason to sleep at the end of Playa de Maspalomas.

The Double Superior View is the cheapest way into that view. At 33.5 m² it is a little smaller than the two doubles below it, with a 5.5 m² balcony against their 7 m², and it trades their side or street outlook for the sea straight ahead. On the June night it was €301 for two, €93 over the Double Deluxe and €41 over the Double Superior. The Junior Suite, at €364, nearly doubles the space for €63 more. The lighthouse itself is beside these sea-facing rooms rather than in front of them: only some Double Superior rooms, on the lighthouse side, are sold with it in view.

Ask for
A lower floor if you sleep lightly, away from the rooftop bar, whose music carries to the top floors on weekend nights, and a room on the lighthouse side rather than the dunes side, where the beach house next door plays music into the evening. If you book a Double Superior, say which side you want when you book: the side decides whether you see the lighthouse, the beach or the boulevard. The hotel publishes no floors or room numbers, so both are requests rather than guarantees.
Avoid
The Double Deluxe if the sea is why you came: it faces the mountains and the street. The Deluxe Adapted, which faces the garden and the street, unless you need its bathroom. And the Double Superior if bathroom privacy matters, since it shares the Double Deluxe's open bathroom and sees the sea only from the side, for €41 less than the room that faces it.

Suites against rooms

There is one suite category, the Junior Suite: 65 m², of which 50 m² is room, with a sofa and coffee table, a rain shower and an 11 m² balcony with sun loungers, all facing straight out to sea. At €364 on the June night it is €63 more than the Double Superior View for almost twice the space, and the balcony is the reason to pay it.
