Which room to book at Royal Hideaway Corales Beach

The Junior Suite Sea Front Panoramic View. Every one of the 121 rooms is a junior suite of 55 to 65 square metres with a terrace, so the ladder is about what the terrace looks at, and the Panoramic is the category the hotel places on the third and fourth floors with the open Atlantic and La Gomera in front of it. The hot-tub tiers add a tub, not a better view.

Why this one

The ladder is unusually flat. The hotel's own room pages give 55 to 65 square metres for four of the five categories and 55 for the fifth, a king bed and a 20 square metre terrace with loungers in the three sea-facing categories without a tub, each with an open-plan bathroom, a rain shower and a separate bath. What changes as you climb is the angle of the sea and whether a hydromassage tub sits on the terrace. The Panoramic is the only category to which the hotel gives numbered floors, the third and fourth; the hot-tub version of the frontal view is described only as high-floor. You are paying a modest step over the entry room for the horizon, and nothing for space, because there is no extra space to buy.

Above the Panoramic the ladder stops being about the view and starts being about the tub. The Ocean Front View with Hot Tub has the same outlook and adds the hydromassage bath on the terrace, and the plain Outdoor Hot Tub room has the tub and a 22 square metre terrace but looks at the pool and gardens, and is advertised from the same undated starting price as the entry room. If a tub outdoors in February is the point, the Ocean Front is the only version worth having. If it is not, the Panoramic is where the money stops working harder.

Ask for
Ask for the fourth floor, the higher of the two the Panoramic occupies, and for a corner if one is free, since guests consistently report the higher floors have the clearest view and the least noise from the road behind. Say at booking that the sea view is the reason for the stay, and confirm that your reservation is in the Beach building rather than the family Corales Suites next door, because both sell junior suites under the same resort name.
Avoid
Skip the Junior Suite with Outdoor Hot Tub if the sea is the point, because the hotel describes its terrace as looking at the pool and garden, and it is the only category not sold on a sea view. Avoid the lowest floors on the sea side if privacy matters, since they trade some of it for the same view, and avoid anything at the rear, where guests report the bus stop on Avenida Virgen de Guadalupe.
