The dive starts on the Dique Sur, the southern breakwater of Puerto de Mogán harbour, at the far western end of the island's south coast. You show your booking at Submarine Adventure's Info and Tickets stand at least 20 minutes before your time; boarding closes 10 minutes before. The yellow submarine, the Golden Shark, waits alongside. You climb down a vertical ladder through the hatch into a long blue cabin with seats along a central aisle, each facing one of 22 portholes, 11 a side, with glass 120 millimetres thick. Headphones are handed out free, and the audio guide runs in 12 languages, the operator says.
Then it dives. The operator gives the depth as 20 to 25 metres, and the whole trip as about 40 to 45 minutes from boarding. The cabin is kept at surface pressure, so ears do not pop, and the operator says pregnant women can go. Below is the Underwater Park La Atlántida: since 2017 the company has laid more than 350 concrete pieces over 3,000 square metres of sea floor, shaped like the ruins of a lost city, where fishing and anchoring are banned. A study by the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, run from April 2019 to July 2020, counted 56 species of animals in the regenerated area, 40 of them vertebrates. Nearby lie two fishing boats sunk on purpose for divers, the 32-metre Cermona II (2002) and an older wreck, at up to 21 metres; the Canary Islands tourist board's dive guide notes the yellow submarine's regular visits.
The Golden Shark was built in Finland for tourist dives: 18 metres long, 103 tonnes, 44 passengers, six electric motors and a rated depth of 75 metres, the operator says. Atlántida Submarine has run dives from Puerto de Mogán since 1996. There are up to eight dives a day, every day except 25 December and 1 January: 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:30, 16:20 and 17:10, with the 17:10 dive not running from 1 November to the end of February. Afterwards you are in Puerto de Mogán itself, with its beach, canals and harbour restaurants a few minutes' walk away.
Why this one
There is one tourist submarine at Puerto de Mogán, and on 6 November 2026 it was the only submarine dive GetYourGuide sold on Gran Canaria, so the choice is where to buy it. On GetYourGuide that day it was rated 4.4 from about 4,600 reviews, from 38 euros, and marked a bestseller. The 38 euros matches the operator's own adult price at the desk (22 euros for children aged 2 to 12). Booking on the operator's website takes 10% off, and online bookings there get the free bus from the southern resorts, but those tickets cannot be used on the day you buy them. GetYourGuide's version needs booking at least 10 hours ahead and keeps free cancellation up to 24 hours before, alongside the rest of your trips.
If you would rather be in the water yourself, three of our other pages from the same harbour suit swimmers better: the kayak trip into the sea caves of the Mogán cliffs, from Taurito, with snorkelling (from 65 euros, rated 4.9 from about 430 reviews), dolphin watching on a small boat with a swim stop (from 89 euros, 4.7 from about 290 reviews), or, on GetYourGuide, a three-hour boat trip from Mogán with optional snorkelling and lunch (from 65 euros, 4.9 from about 930 reviews). For fish behind glass on a grey day in the north, there is the Poema del Mar aquarium in Las Palmas. The submarine is the one for children from 2, non-swimmers, grandparents and anyone who wants the reef at 20 metres without a mask.

When to go
What the sea and the weather at Puerto de Mogán are like month by month, through the dive hours. Waves and calm days are modelled for the open sea just off the harbour; rain for the harbour itself.

Waves are the median of each day's highest wave between 10:00 and 17:00 at sea off the harbour; calm sea, the share of days when they stay under 1.5 metres; sea, the median sea temperature at midday. Rain is the share of days with 1 mm or more.
Calmest from May to November; one dive fewer in winter
In the sea data we looked at, the day's highest waves off Puerto de Mogán stayed under 1.5 metres on more than nine days in ten from May to November, against about two days in three in March. The operator says dive times can change with the weather. From 1 November to the end of February the last dive, at 17:10, may not run, so the latest is 16:20.

Complaints
The catch
Get there 20 minutes early
The operator asks you to validate your booking at its stand on the Dique Sur at least 20 minutes before the dive. Boarding closes 10 minutes before, and a late arrival counts as a no-show with no refund.
What to do. Allow for the walk out along the breakwater, and more on a Friday.
Friday is market day
On Fridays the Puerto de Mogán market restricts traffic, parking is short, and the operator says the walk from where you park can take 20 to 30 minutes.
What to do. Pick another day if you are driving, or come by bus; on other days ask at check-in for 2 hours' free parking on the Dique Sur.
There is a ladder to climb
You go in and out through the hatch by a vertical ladder, and each passenger must manage it unaided. There are no toilets on board, and no food, drink or luggage is allowed, with no lockers on the quay.
What to do. Wear trousers or shorts and flat shoes, use the public toilets by the boarding area first, and travel light.
Under-2s stay on the quay
The operator does not take babies under 2 into the submarine, for safety reasons, and asks for ID for children aged 2 to 12 if needed.
What to do. With a baby, one adult can wait on the harbour front and swap with the next dive; bring the children's ID.
The free bus is for direct bookings
The operator's free bus from Playa del Inglés, Meloneras, Puerto Rico and the other southern resorts carries only passengers who bought online on its own site and reserved a seat.
What to do. Booked here, drive, take a taxi, or ride Global's line 32 or 33 from Playa del Inglés; and make an afternoon of Puerto de Mogán.
Book ahead for the time you want
Each dive has 44 seats. GetYourGuide needs bookings at least 10 hours ahead, and from 1 November to the end of February the last dive of the day, at 17:10, may not run.
What to do. Reserve the day before; a morning dive leaves the afternoon for the beach.
