Isla de Lobos is the low volcanic island you can see from every beach in Corralejo, about 2 km offshore and about 4.5 square kilometres in size, protected since 1982 and a natural park in its own right since 1994. It takes its name from the monk seals, the lobos marinos, that lived on its shores until they were hunted out in the nineteenth century. There is nowhere to stay: what is built is a lighthouse and, at El Puertito, a fishermen's hamlet with the island's one restaurant.

This ticket is the ride there and back, nothing more, and that is the point. You check in with Barracuda Perdomo at Corralejo harbour, board a rigid inflatable boat with what the listing calls comfortable seating for every passenger, and are on the Lobos jetty in about 12 minutes, by the listing's own count. Return boats run every 30 minutes, until 17:00 in winter and 18:00 in summer; you pick your slot when you check in, subject to seats, and the operator says each boat carries 12. The listing also suggests the island's only restaurant, Antoñito el Farero at El Puertito, for paella or fresh fish.

Once ashore, the island is yours. Paths lead to the crater of La Caldera, at 127 metres the highest point, about 40 minutes on foot from the jetty according to one guide; to the Punta Martiño lighthouse at the northern tip, first lit on 30 July 1865 and about 5 km from El Puertito; and to the beach of La Concha, where the listing suggests a snorkel. There is no shade anywhere on the walk.

Landing is controlled. The Cabildo de Fuerteventura issues a free, personal permit through its LobosPass site, for up to 200 people on the islet at a time; the Biosphere Reserve says to request it five days before your visit, and that it is separate from whatever boat you take. Ferryhopper gives two daily shifts, 10:00 to 14:00 and 14:00 to 18:00, of four hours at most. The GetYourGuide listing does not mention the permit, while the same operator's listing on Civitatis says it is arranged with the fare, so ask the operator when you book.

Why this one

Of the Lobos crossings sold on GetYourGuide, this one had the most reviews on 26 October 2026: rated 4.7 from about 2,100, from 16 euros. The classic ferry with an optional hotel transfer was rated 4.6 from about 630 reviews, from 15.30 euros, and is the one to book if you want a hotel pickup or a conventional ferry rather than an open boat. The ferry with a guided snorkel was rated 4.5 from about 950, from 27 euros. From Caleta de Fuste, a bus and ferry package was rated 4.3 from about 190, from 35 euros. Buying direct at the harbour saves nothing: Ferryhopper listed the two ferry companies, Naviera Nortour and Isla de Lobos, from 8.50 euros each way, about 17 euros return.

Book this one for the fastest crossing, a return time you choose rather than one of two afternoon ferries, and the lowest price. If you would rather spend the day on the water than walk, our catamaran page, Lobos, by catamaran, sails to La Concha with paella, drinks and snorkelling for 75 euros. For Lanzarote across the strait, see A day on Lanzarote.

Good for

  • Walkers who want the lighthouse or the crater, at their own pace
  • Anyone staying in Corralejo: the harbour is a short walk or drive
  • Couples and friends after the cheapest way across

Not for

  • Anyone with back or neck trouble: the boat is fast and can bump
  • Guests in the south, about 100 minutes away by road
  • Days of lazing with lunch laid on: take the catamaran

What guests keep saying

Recurring themes in the tour’s reviews, in our words, never quoted.

Praised

  • A quick, fun crossing with a crew who are friendly and helpful
  • The freedom to come back when you like, with boats every half hour
  • Very good value for the ride: transport and value both scored 4.8 out of 5

Complaints

  • A hard, bumpy ride at the front of the boat on choppy days

The catch

  1. Sort the LobosPass permit first

Landing on Lobos needs a free, personal permit from the Cabildo, issued on LobosPass and separate from the boat ticket; the Biosphere Reserve says to request it five days before your visit. The GetYourGuide listing does not mention it, while the same operator's Civitatis listing says it arranges it.

What to do. Ask Barracuda Perdomo when you book whether they arrange it. If not, request it on LobosPass the day your date opens, for everyone in your group, and match your return boat to the end of your shift.

  2. Sit at the back for a softer ride

It is a fast open boat. Reviews from choppy days describe hard bumps, felt most in the seats at the front.

What to do. Take a seat near the stern and hold on. With back trouble, or with small children who mind the bumps, take the slower ferry from the same harbour instead.

  3. Fix your return time at check-in

Return slots are booked when you check in, subject to the 12 seats on each boat, so the time you want is not guaranteed.

What to do. Choose your return before you board, note it down, and be back at the jetty a few minutes early.

  4. Dress for a walk, not a beach stroll

The paths are stony, the island has no shade, and the lighthouse is about 5 km from El Puertito by one guide. At 13:00 in August the median temperature on Lobos is 27.3°C.

What to do. Wear proper shoes, take a hat, sun cream and more water than you think, and in summer walk in the morning and swim at La Concha later.

  5. Book lunch when you land

Antoñito el Farero at El Puertito is the only restaurant on the island, and one guide says its tables fill quickly.

What to do. Reserve a table as soon as you step off the boat, or bring a picnic and take your rubbish home.
