The catch at Circa Resort & Casino
Circa is built around a party pool, and most of its catches follow from that: who hears it, who gets a lounger, and what a night costs when everyone wants to be there. None of them is a reason to skip the hotel if the pool and the games are why you are going, but each one changes a booking: the side of the tower, the nights of the week, and who in the group can come.
On our shortlists
Stadium Swim is a party pool, and the rooms that face it hear it all day
Stadium Swim is a dayclub as much as a pool, with DJs, the games on with the sound up and room for 4,000 people. It opens from 8am to 11pm from March to October, and from 9am on winter weekdays. The deck sits on the podium above the casino, on the tower's Fremont Street side, so the rooms sold with a Stadium Swim view look straight down on it and hear it from opening time. Loud music from the pool is a recurring complaint, and some guests describe club bass coming through the room. Fremont Street adds its own sound after dark, with free concerts under the canopy every night. The quietest rooms are on the back of the tower, the ones the hotel lists with a north city view.
What to do. Book a room with a north city view: the Single King, Double King, Corner Studio, Circa Studio and Circa Suite are all sold that way. Take a Stadium Swim view only if you want the game from the bed, and pack earplugs for a weekend.
Fridays and Saturdays can cost about three times a Tuesday, and a $50 fee is added every night
Rates swing hard through the week. In the week of 18 May 2027 a Single King was $169 on the Tuesday, $119 on the Wednesday, $479 on the Friday and $579 on the Saturday, before tax and the fee. On every night the hotel adds a resort fee of $50 plus tax, which covers basic Wi-Fi for two devices, the fitness centre, concierge services and the two Stadium Swim passes each room gets a night; with the 13 per cent room tax, the $169 Tuesday comes to about $247. Extra guests cost at least $25 each a night, and no standard room takes more than four. Parking in the Garage Mahal is $25 a day to park yourself and $20 for valet.
What to do. Come midweek if the dates are yours to choose: the Wednesday of that week was $119. If you are driving, valet costs less than parking yourself.
The pool passes do not guarantee a lounger, and there is little shade
Each room gets two general-admission passes a night, subject to availability, and everyone using them must be named on the reservation. The chaise loungers are first come, first served, and the booths, daybeds and cabanas are booked separately. Guests note there is little shade on the deck. From November to February the pool keeps shorter hours, opening at 9am on weekdays and closing earlier except for football and big events. On Super Bowl Sunday, 14 February 2027, it becomes the Big Game Bash, a watch party with its own seating options and the doors opening at 11am.
What to do. At a weekend, be there when the pool opens if you want a lounger, and book a daybed or cabana through the concierge if a group needs seats together. Bring a hat. If your dates include Super Bowl Sunday, ask whether the room passes cover the Big Game Bash before you book.
Nobody under 21 gets in, and ID is checked at the door
Circa is 21 and over throughout: hotel guests, casino players and anyone eating in the restaurants or drinking in the bars, with valid ID required to enter. Guests mention showing it each time they come in. The person checking in must be 21, with a credit or debit card in the name on the reservation; prepaid and gift cards are not accepted, and a debit card triggers an immediate hold for the room, the tax and $100 a night for incidentals, which can take up to two weeks to be released. Pets are not allowed, other than trained service animals.
What to do. Check every age in the group before you book: a 20-year-old cannot stay, swim or even eat here. Keep ID on you, and check in with a credit card rather than a debit card.
The Strip is a 12-minute drive, not a walk
Circa stands at the west end of the Fremont Street Experience, about 7 km from the middle of the Strip. By car that is about 12 minutes outside the rush, and the airport about 18; walking is not a real option. Every Strip show, Strip dinner and Strip pool day means a ride each way, and the rooms sold with a Strip view see its skyline from that distance. What is on foot is old downtown: Fremont Street under its canopy, with free light shows and concerts every night, the Golden Nugget a few steps along, the Mob Museum eight minutes away and the bars and restaurants of Fremont East.
What to do. Plan the Strip as a round trip by taxi or rideshare, or rent a car from the Hertz desk in the Garage Mahal across the road and use the $20 valet. Spend the other nights downtown, where dinner is on foot.
Who should skip it
Families and any group with someone under 21, who cannot so much as eat here. Light sleepers set on a room over the pool, and anyone after a quiet sunbed, shade or a spa, since there is no spa. And anyone whose trip is mostly Strip shows and Strip dinners, who will spend it in taxis.
Who should book it anyway
Anyone coming for the pool, the games and old downtown. Stadium Swim is heated and open every day of the year, six pools on three tiers facing a screen 135 feet wide, with two passes a night for each room and the games on with the sound up; Fremont Street, the Golden Nugget and the Mob Museum are on the doorstep, and Legacy Club at the top of the tower does the sunset. Take a Corner Studio on the quieter north side and come midweek, when a Single King on a May Tuesday is about $170.
The catch elsewhere in Las Vegas
- BellagioCenter Strip
A $55 nightly resort fee plus tax is added to every stay, and parking is extra: hotel guests pay $20 a day to self-park and $40 for valet.
- Wynn Las VegasNorth Strip
A $55 nightly resort fee plus tax is added to every room, on top of rates that start around $400 before tax midweek and climb far higher in convention and event weeks.
- Caesars PalaceCenter Strip
A $54.95 nightly resort fee plus tax covers only Wi-Fi for two devices, local calls and the gym for two, and parking is extra: $20 a day to self-park and $50 for valet.
- Fontainebleau Las VegasNorth Strip
It stands at the north end of the Strip. The Bellagio fountains are about 45 minutes' walk (3.2 km) and the Venetian 34 minutes, and the Vegas Loop station downstairs runs to the Convention Center, Wynn and Encore, Resorts World and Westgate rather than the centre Strip, so the middle of the Strip means a taxi.
- Four Seasons Hotel Las VegasSouth Strip
It sits at the south end of the Strip. New York-New York is 21 minutes' walk and the Bellagio fountains 39, and the indoor way north runs through Mandalay Bay's busy casino, so most evenings out start with a taxi.
- The Cosmopolitan of Las VegasCenter Strip
A $55 nightly resort fee plus tax is added to every stay, and parking is extra: hotel guests pay $20 a day to self-park and $40 for valet.
- The Venetian Resort Las VegasCenter Strip
A $55 nightly resort fee plus tax is added to every stay. It covers in-suite Wi-Fi, the Canyon Ranch gym for two, local calls and boarding-pass printing, but not the spa, and self-parking costs hotel guests another $20 a day, valet $40.
- Red Rock Casino Resort & SpaSummerlin
The Strip is a drive away. The Bellagio fountains are 24 minutes by car and Fremont Street 21, there is no shuttle, and the bus from Downtown Summerlin takes about 45 minutes to reach even the Strip's north end.
- SAHARA Las VegasNorth Strip
It is the far north end of the Strip. From the Strip entrance the Bellagio fountains are about 50 minutes' walk and the LINQ Promenade about 46, so plan on the Monorail, whose station is at the back of the resort, or a car.
