The catch at Wynn Las Vegas
Five things stand between the Wynn of the awards and the stay most people book. None of them is hidden, and none is a reason to skip a hotel this polished, but each one changes a booking: which part of the hotel you are in, what the fee and the calendar add, how far the Center Strip is, and where people smoke.

The Five-Star rating belongs to the Tower Suites, not to the room most people book
Forbes rates three parts of Wynn Las Vegas Five-Star in 2026: the Wynn Tower Suites, for the 20th year running, The Spa at Wynn and Wing Lei. The hotel itself, which takes in the Resort King and the Panoramic rooms, is Four-Star. The difference is not the room. A Wynn Tower Suite King is the same 640 sq ft (59 m²) as a Resort King, with a canopy over the bed. What changes is the setting: an entrance, registration lobby and lifts of its own, a private pool deck with cabanas, twice-daily housekeeping, coffee from 7am to 8.30am and free valet parking. On Tuesday 18 May 2027 that step cost $250 a night, $929 against $679.
What to do. If the Five-Star stay is why you chose Wynn, book the Tower Suite King. Then check what your rate includes: the $50 daily breakfast credit shown for the Tower Suites comes with full-price rates, not with promotional ones.
A $55 fee is added every night, and the rate swings with the convention calendar
Every room carries a resort fee of $55 a night plus tax, on top of a rate that started at $679 for a Resort King on Tuesday 18 May 2027. The fee covers self-parking for two cars, Wi-Fi on any number of devices, bottled water refreshed daily, local and US long-distance calls, the fitness centre for two and a digital newsstand. Valet parking is $40 a day unless you are staying in the Tower Suites. The room rate itself moves hard with the calendar: Sunday is usually the cheapest night, and big conventions and event weeks can take a Resort King from about $400 to $1,800 a night.
What to do. Price the stay with the fee and tax included, and if your dates can move, try a Sunday arrival and check the convention calendar before you commit. If you drive, self-park: it is already in the fee.
It sits at the north end of the Strip, 20 to 25 minutes on foot from Caesars and the Bellagio fountains
From the Strip-side entrance the near neighbours are quick: Fashion Show is 3 minutes across the Boulevard, Treasure Island 5 and the Rialto Bridge at The Venetian 10. The Center Strip is another matter. Caesars Palace and the High Roller are 20 minutes on foot, the Bellagio fountains about 25, and the nearest monorail station, Harrah's & The LINQ, 17. Every one of those times starts at the Strip-side door, so add the walk from your room through the resort. An evening at the fountains means close to an hour on foot there and back.
What to do. Walk to The Palazzo, The Venetian and Fashion Show, and treat the Center Strip as a taxi ride: taxis and ride-shares wait at the main valet around the clock.
Formula 1 race week takes over the corner outside in November, and the prices with it
The Las Vegas Grand Prix runs from Thursday 19 to Saturday 21 November 2026. Its circuit runs along Sands Avenue between the hotel and The Palazzo, then turns left onto Las Vegas Boulevard opposite Treasure Island and heads south down the Strip. In 2025 the circuit's roads closed to traffic from 1pm on each race day, and the pedestrian bridges were fitted with safety screens. The hotel's race offer is three nights in a resort room, Thursday to Sunday: a Resort King was $1,100 on the Thursday and $2,000 on the Friday and the Saturday, with a three-night minimum for Thursday and Friday arrivals, against $299 for the Sunday after.
What to do. Unless the race is the reason for the trip, avoid the week. If it is, book early and plan on three nights.
Smoking is allowed on the casino floor, by the pools and on some hotel floors
Smoking is allowed on Wynn's casino floor, outside in the patio and pool areas, and on designated hotel floors. The casino is the resort's crossroads: The Buffet opens just off it, and Allegro sits beside the race and sports book. Smoking in a non-smoking room brings a cleaning fee of up to $1,500, and marijuana is banned in the rooms and throughout the resort. Which floors are set aside for smokers is not published, so the only way to be sure of a non-smoking one is to ask.
What to do. Ask for a non-smoking floor when you book and again at check-in. If smoke matters a great deal, the Tower Suites have their own entrance, registration lobby and lifts.
Who should skip it
Anyone who wants to walk to Caesars Palace and the Bellagio fountains every evening, since they are 20 to 25 minutes away on foot. Anyone who minds casino smoke, or a $55 nightly fee on top of a rate that started at $679 on a May Tuesday. And anyone who needs a room in Formula 1 week for some reason other than the race.
Who should book it anyway
Anyone who wants the polished, stay-put version of Las Vegas. Even the entry room is 640 sq ft (59 m²) with floor-to-ceiling windows, the Lake of Dreams show runs every half hour from dusk beside SW Steakhouse's patio, Wing Lei and The Spa at Wynn hold Five-Star ratings, and 18 holes lie behind the casino. Book a Wynn Tower Suite King for the Five-Star part of the hotel, eat one night by the lake, and save the Center Strip for a taxi.
The catch elsewhere in Las Vegas
- BellagioCenter Strip
A $55 nightly resort fee plus tax is added to every stay, and parking is extra: hotel guests pay $20 a day to self-park and $40 for valet.
- Caesars PalaceCenter Strip
A $54.95 nightly resort fee plus tax covers only Wi-Fi for two devices, local calls and the gym for two, and parking is extra: $20 a day to self-park and $50 for valet.
- Fontainebleau Las VegasNorth Strip
It stands at the north end of the Strip. The Bellagio fountains are about 45 minutes' walk (3.2 km) and the Venetian 34 minutes, and the Vegas Loop station downstairs runs to the Convention Center, Wynn and Encore, Resorts World and Westgate rather than the centre Strip, so the middle of the Strip means a taxi.
- Four Seasons Hotel Las VegasSouth Strip
It sits at the south end of the Strip. New York-New York is 21 minutes' walk and the Bellagio fountains 39, and the indoor way north runs through Mandalay Bay's busy casino, so most evenings out start with a taxi.
- The Cosmopolitan of Las VegasCenter Strip
A $55 nightly resort fee plus tax is added to every stay, and parking is extra: hotel guests pay $20 a day to self-park and $40 for valet.
- The Venetian Resort Las VegasCenter Strip
A $55 nightly resort fee plus tax is added to every stay. It covers in-suite Wi-Fi, the Canyon Ranch gym for two, local calls and boarding-pass printing, but not the spa, and self-parking costs hotel guests another $20 a day, valet $40.
- Circa Resort & CasinoDowntown, Fremont Street
A $50 nightly resort fee plus tax goes on every room, and weekends cost far more than midweek: in the week of 18 May 2027 a Single King was $169 on the Tuesday, $479 on the Friday and $579 on the Saturday, before tax and the fee.
- Red Rock Casino Resort & SpaSummerlin
The Strip is a drive away. The Bellagio fountains are 24 minutes by car and Fremont Street 21, there is no shuttle, and the bus from Downtown Summerlin takes about 45 minutes to reach even the Strip's north end.
- SAHARA Las VegasNorth Strip
It is the far north end of the Strip. From the Strip entrance the Bellagio fountains are about 50 minutes' walk and the LINQ Promenade about 46, so plan on the Monorail, whose station is at the back of the resort, or a car.

Book Wynn Las Vegas for the polished, stay-put version of the city: a spa morning, the lake show or Wing Lei at dinner and a round on the course. Pay the step to a Wynn Tower Suite King, since the Five-Star rating belongs to the Tower Suites.
