What we looked for

In Paris the view is sold by name. Each of these four puts its entry rooms on a courtyard or a garden and charges for the outlook category by category, so the words in the room name are what you pay for: Eiffel View, Paris View or a named suite. Height matters too, and where a hotel publishes no floor numbers, a high floor is a request rather than a promise.

What you see depends on distance. From the Chaillot hill, Shangri-La Paris sees the Eiffel Tower at an angle, about 600 metres away across the Seine. Mandarin Oriental Lutetia, Paris sees it 2.5 km off over the roofs of the 7th, from about the fifth floor up, and Hôtel Madame Rêve 3.6 km away on the skyline, from its Eiffel Tower View rooms. Madame Rêve's Paris View rooms look across the zinc roofs of the 1st instead, and Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel keeps the Place de la Concorde for its signature suites.

Shangri-La Paris

Trocadéro, Paris

Shangri-La Paris sits on the Chaillot hill with the Eiffel Tower about 600 metres away across the Seine, and sells that outlook by name. The Eiffel View Room, 45 m², is the first category sold on the tower; the Terrace Eiffel View Room, 55 m², adds a furnished terrace where breakfast can be served, and the Duplex Eiffel View Suite has two-storey windows on it. Because the façades face south-south-west and south-east, the tower stands to one side of the French windows rather than straight ahead, and on the lower floors it shows from about the first platform up, over the roofs along Avenue de New York and the trees by the river.

The whole tower, arches and all, belongs to the upper-floor terraces, starting with the Duplex Terrace Eiffel View Suite; La Suite Shangri-La, at the top, is the one category sold as unobstructed. The suites called Paris View face the garden with only part of the tower.

45 m² and the first category sold on the tower, seen at an angle through tall French windows; the five cheaper categories face the courtyard, the cupola, the garden or the streets.

Every room, and why

Ask for the highest floor available: lower down, the roofs on Avenue de New York and the trees by the river hide more of the tower.

2 / 4

Hôtel Madame Rêve

Les Halles, Paris

Hôtel Madame Rêve names every outlook, and each name means what it says. The Paris View rooms are on the top floor of the old post office, with sloping atelier windows straight onto the zinc roofs of the 1st; the buildings across the street stand close to the hotel's height, so the view runs across the roofs rather than down onto monuments. The Exceptional View rooms look towards landmarks such as Saint-Eustache, and the Suite Madame Rêve Terrasse sees the sunrise on the church from its living room. The Eiffel Tower View rooms and the Suite Tour Eiffel look west to the tower, 3.6 km away, a shape on the skyline at sunset and dusk.

The entry categories look onto the courtyard's hanging garden instead. Every guest has the roof, though: ROOF, the planted bar on top, looks over Saint-Eustache, the Panthéon and Sacré-Cœur, with the tower on the skyline, until 1am all year.

Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel

Place de la Concorde, Paris

Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel stands on the Place de la Concorde and keeps the square for its signature suites; the rooms and standard suites face a courtyard or the pedestrian Rue Boissy d'Anglas, or are sold with no stated outlook. So this is a view for a milestone budget, and the suites deliver it. Karl Lagerfeld's pair of Grands Appartements, on the fourth floor, look over the square, with the Eiffel Tower, the Grand Palais and the Musée d'Orsay in view as well. Two floors up, the Louis XV and Bernstein suites each have a terrace over the Concorde with the Eiffel Tower beyond, and the two connect into 350 m².

Under the mansard roof, the Ateliers d'Artistes Le Peintre and Le Poète have terraces with the Eiffel Tower in view.

Mandarin Oriental Lutetia, Paris: The carved Art Nouveau façade on Boulevard RaspailThe all-rounder

4 / 4

Mandarin Oriental Lutetia, Paris

Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris

Mandarin Oriental Lutetia, Paris has the long view across the Left Bank. The Eiffel Tower stands 2.5 km from the hotel, beyond Square Boucicaut and the roofs of the 7th, with the gilded dome of Les Invalides just to its right. The square's plane trees, 19 to 22 metres tall, are in the line of sight, so almost all of the tower shows only from about the fifth floor up, and the hotel sells it accordingly: the Eiffel View Deluxe Balcony Rooms are on its highest floors.

The tower also comes with the Eiffel Suite on the sixth floor, the Josephine Baker Suite on the fifth, the Amour Suite at the very top and the rooftop penthouses. The two cheapest categories face the courtyard, and a Deluxe Balcony Room lower down looks into the trees. From the right floor, the tower and the dome sit on the skyline, seen from your own balcony rather than filling the window.

The Deluxe Room's 40 m² on the highest floors, with a balcony high enough to see over the plane trees of Square Boucicaut to the tower and the Invalides dome.

Every room, and why

Say whether you want a king bed or two twins, and ask for the highest floor the category has: the tower clears the trees from about the fifth floor up.

Questions people ask

Good questions about Paris

Which Paris hotels have rooms with an Eiffel Tower view?

Of our ten, Shangri-La Paris is right across the river: its rooms named Eiffel see the tower at an angle, about 600 metres away, and the upper-floor terraces see all of it. Mandarin Oriental Lutetia, Paris sells Eiffel View Deluxe Balcony Rooms on its highest floors, 2.5 km from the tower, with the Invalides dome beside it. Hôtel Madame Rêve has Eiffel Tower View rooms, 3.6 km to the west. At Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel and Le Bristol Paris the tower comes only with named suites.

Do you need a high floor for an Eiffel Tower view in Paris?

At Shangri-La Paris and Mandarin Oriental Lutetia, Paris, the floor matters as much as the category. At Shangri-La Paris the roofs on Avenue de New York and the trees by the river hide the bottom of the tower from the lower floors, where it rises from about the first platform; only the terraces on the upper floors take it in down to its arches. At the Lutetia the plane trees of Square Boucicaut are in the way below about the fifth floor. Neither hotel publishes floor numbers for these rooms, so book the category named for the view and ask for the highest floor it has.

Is a view room in Paris worth the extra?

If the view is the point of the trip, the category named for it is the only sure way to get it. On Tuesday 23 February 2027, the Eiffel View Room at Shangri-La Paris was €1,275 more than its Superior Room, which has no tower. At Mandarin Oriental Lutetia, Paris the Eiffel View Deluxe Balcony Room was €144 more than the Deluxe Balcony Room, the same 40 m² over the boulevard. At Hôtel Madame Rêve the Deluxe Atelier, Paris View, the cheapest room priced with a view of Paris, was €77 more than the Superior. Rates move with the season, so compare on your own dates.

Can you see the Place de la Concorde from the Crillon's rooms?

From four suites at Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel, and from its bar. The square is sold only with signature suites: Karl Lagerfeld's Grand Appartement Concorde and Grand Appartement Eiffel on the fourth floor and, on the sixth, the Louis XV and Bernstein suites, which have terraces over it. The rooms and standard suites look onto an inner courtyard or onto Rue Boissy d'Anglas, a pedestrian street, or have no stated outlook. For the square without a suite, Bar Les Ambassadeurs has a terrace under the arcades, open daily from 5pm to 1am without reservations.

Which Paris hotels have a rooftop bar with a view?

ROOF, on top of Hôtel Madame Rêve, is a planted garden bar over the 1st that looks out to Saint-Eustache, the Panthéon and Sacré-Cœur, with the Eiffel Tower on the skyline; it is open to everyone until 1am all year, with a covered, heated patio in winter. Hôtel Molitor Paris has a rooftop restaurant and bar with the Eiffel Tower in view, open from May to September. Grands Boulevards Experimental has The Shed, a small planted bar that looks out over the roofs next door, open every evening all year.

How did you choose these hotels?

Independently, through extensive research, trusted sources and first-hand visits. Hotels cannot pay to be included, and every one of the ten has to exist for a different reason.
