The take on The Venetian Resort Las Vegas

The Venetian opened in May 1999 on the site of the old Sands, built by Sheldon Adelson for the convention trade and themed on Renaissance Venice. Along Las Vegas Boulevard stand copies of the Doge's Palace, the Rialto Bridge and a 315-foot Campanile; inside, a quarter-mile Grand Canal runs between the shops under a painted sky, and the colonnade ceilings carry frescoes painted by hand. The 12-storey Venezia tower, now the South Tower, followed in 2003. As part of a $1.5 billion reinvestment, all of the roughly 4,000 suites were remodelled, the South Tower's in 2024 and the North Tower's in 2025.

Every room is sold as a suite, which here means a living area with a sleeper sofa, a dining table and its own 65-inch television beside an open bedroom, a few steps down from it in some suites. The remodelled Luxury King Suite is about 650 sq ft (60 m²) and the Luxury Two Queen 750 sq ft (70 m²), each with a 130 sq ft (12 m²) marble bathroom with a Roman tub and a separate shower. The palette of ruby red and burnished metal takes its cue from Venetian Carnival costumes. Above them come the Premium Two Queen at 1,100 sq ft (102 m²), new Loft suites under 15-foot ceilings on the South Tower's top floor, and the Grand King at 1,500 sq ft (139 m²), with a pool table and a bedroom that closes off with drapes.

The reason to book is how much of a Las Vegas trip happens without a taxi. The resort has more than 40 restaurants, Bouchon, COTE and Estiatorio Milos among the 2026 MICHELIN Guide's selection, plus 160 shops along the canal and gondola rides at $39 a head. The pool deck on the fourth floor spans two acres with four heated pools and stays open all year, the Pool Garden in the South Tower stays open until 10pm, and TAO Beach runs its 21-and-over dayclub from March to October. Canyon Ranch has a spa and a gym with a 40-foot climbing wall, and for most shows a covered bridge through the Expo leads to Sphere next door.

The trade is scale and extras. A $55 nightly resort fee plus tax applies, self-parking costs $20 a day, the casino at the centre of it all allows smoking in designated areas, and from the Rialto Bridge the Bellagio fountains are a 17-minute walk. The entry suite promises no view, and rates jump with conventions and events: $367 on Tuesday 18 May 2027, $1,039 two weeks earlier. Book it for a first trip to Las Vegas, a Sphere show, or friends and families who want room to spread out.

Newly Remodeled Luxury King Suite, Sphere View, at The Venetian: a king bed with a red leather headboard and a bench at its foot, and a railing beyond it above a living area with a red sofa and a dining table

The Venetian Resort Las Vegas: the room to book, Newly Remodeled Luxury King Suite, Sphere View

The entry Luxury King Suite promises no outlook at all, and its City View option means partial glimpses of the Strip, the pool or the mountains. The Sphere View version is the same remodelled 650 sq ft (60 m²) suite, with the Roman tub and the sofa-bed living area, looking across the Expo roof to the 366-foot Sphere about a third of a mile away, whose 580,000 sq ft LED skin is lit with moving images after dark. On a May Tuesday it runs about $99 a night more than the entry suite, $466 against $367.

Ask for
Ask for a suite with the sunken living room, which the hotel gives only upon availability. If the Strip matters more to you than Sphere, the Strip View version of the same suite is about $35 a night less.
Avoid
The plain Luxury King if the view matters, since it comes with none promised. The New Luxury Loft King on the South Tower's top floor has a 15-foot ceiling and an arched window, but its bathroom lists a marble shower and no tub.

The Venetian Resort Las Vegas: The bar at Thomas Keller's Bouchon

Bouchon

Michelin recommendedChef Thomas KellerThomas Keller's French bistro, on the tenth floor of the South Tower beside the Pool Garden

Thomas Keller's bistro has been here since 2004, a Parisian room of blue velvet banquettes, wood-panelled columns and old frescoes, with a patio for eating outdoors. Dinner runs nightly from 5pm to 10pm, with steak frites, escargots and oysters, but the reason to come is brunch, from 8am on Thursdays and from Friday to Sunday, when the crab Benedict and the crème brûlée earn the table. In pool season it also feeds the Pool Garden next door. Book the weekend brunch ahead.

COTE

Michelin recommendedKorean barbecue steakhouse with tabletop grills, from the team behind New York's COTEDinner only

A Korean steakhouse from the team whose New York original was the first Korean barbecue restaurant to win a MICHELIN Star. Prime and dry-aged beef, much of it aged in-house, and A5 Wagyu are grilled at the table on smokeless grills, and the Butcher's Feast, four cuts with banchan, is the order for a first visit. The wine list runs past 1,200 labels. Dinner runs from 5pm to 11pm, and from 4.30pm to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays; book ahead.

Where The Venetian Resort Las Vegas is, and getting there

The Venetian fills a long block on the east side of Las Vegas Boulevard in the middle of the Strip, fronted by its Doge's Palace, the Rialto Bridge and the gondola lagoon. From the Rialto Bridge the Forum Shops are eight minutes' walk, the Harrah's/The LINQ monorail station nine, the High Roller twelve, Fashion Show fourteen and the Bellagio fountains seventeen. Sphere stands directly behind the resort, reached for most shows by a covered, air-conditioned footbridge through the Venetian Expo. Harry Reid International is 10 to 12 minutes away by car off-peak, and self-parking costs hotel guests $20 a day, valet $40. The suites are in two towers: the 35-storey North Tower, with the main pool deck on its fourth floor, and the South Tower, reached by lift to Level 10, where the Pool Garden is. Both are a long indoor walk from the street, so allow time when you have a show to catch.
