Where to eat at and around Es Princep

The hotel holds two tables of its own: Zaranda, with one MICHELIN star and a published season of March to October, and the rooftop terrace, open to everyone from 10.30 until sunset with the bay in front. Outside the door is La Calatrava, a quiet residential corner of the old town, and the places below are all within ten minutes on foot, up through the lanes towards Sant Francesc and Plaça de Sant Antoni. Several keep short weeks, so check the day: of the places below, Quadrat is the only one serving dinner on a Sunday, and on a Monday night it is Quadrat or Ben Trempat.

Zaranda

One Michelin starChef Fernando Pérez ArellanoCreative tasting menus on Balearic produce, served across the bar, the kitchen and the dining roomDinner onlySeasonal

Fernando Pérez Arellano opened Zaranda in Madrid in 2005, won a star the following year and brought it to Mallorca, where it once held two; here it holds one star in the 2026 guide. Dinner is one of two tasting menus, the shorter of them 12 courses, and moves through three spaces, starting at the bar and taking in the kitchen before the dining room, with a glass floor over the tannery pits found under the hotel. It has its own entrance and keeps short hours: its published season runs March to October, Wednesday to Saturday in spring, Tuesday to Saturday in June, September and October, Tuesday to Sunday in July and August, and no one under 16. If dinner is part of the reason for the trip, book the table before the room.

Es Princep Rooftop

Top-floor terrace bar and kitchen facing the Bay of Palma, with the cathedral over the old-town roofs

The top floor is the hotel's best room, and it is open to everyone: a terrace facing the bay, with the cathedral over the old-town roofs, serving drinks and food from 10.30 in the morning until dusk, with the pool beside it kept for hotel guests. It is calm by day. In the evening the music goes up and Palma arrives for sunset, which is the hour to have a table and the reason guests should not expect the roof to themselves.

Our verdict

Es Princep earns its place on the roof and the windows: the Bay of Palma in front, the cathedral along the walls and a starred dinner downstairs. Pay for a Premium Sea View, because the view is the reason to come and the entry room does not have it.
