Bar and grill, since 1887 · $$
There has been a bar on this corner of Berry and North 8th Street since 1887, and much of it is original: the bar itself, the tin ceiling, most of the tiled floor and the stained-glass window still advertising Peter Doelger Extra Beer, from its years as a brewery tasting room. Brooklyn Brewery delivered its first case of Brooklyn Lager to this door in 1988. The kitchen does a $16 burger, a giant pretzel with Brooklyn Lager beer cheese at $13 and chicken wings at $12 for six. Open from 4pm Tuesday to Thursday, from 2pm on Friday and noon at weekends; closed on Monday.

The New York slice, on the corner of North 9th Street and Bedford Avenue since 1960. Vinnie's has changed hands several times, most recently in 2024 to a long-time employee and a chef who helped open Don Angie, and kept the counter: cheese slices, a square Grandma pie with chunky tomato sauce, white and vodka pies, and a long vegan and gluten-free list that settles a mixed group. Small and large pies run from $23 to $39. It stays open until 2am on Friday and Saturday, which makes it the stop on the walk home from Bedford Avenue.
