The tuk-tuk comes to you. The listing is a private tour with hotel pickup: a City Tuk driver-guide collects your party at the door and the vehicle is yours alone for the length you book, 2 to 4 hours. Then it does what Lisbon's hills make hard on foot and slow by tram: up through the old town to the viewpoints, down the lanes of Alfama and the older neighbourhoods, and out along the river, with the guide talking about the city as you ride. GetYourGuide's highlights for the tour promise exactly that: the city's hills and old neighbourhoods, its landmarks and views, and in Belém a taste of the original pastéis de nata from Pastéis de Belém.

The tuk-tuks are open at the sides under a fabric canopy, so the city is right there: the photographs on the listing show the white and red City Tuk tuk-tuks by the Tagus with the 25 de Abril Bridge behind, outside the Jerónimos Monastery in Belém and on the cobbles of Largo de São Domingos. The operator says on its own site that it runs electric tuk-tuks and that its tours suit small groups, families and solo travellers. The route is yours to shape with the guide, so a family can trade a church for a second viewpoint or an ice cream stop.

The longer you book, the further you get. Two hours covers the old town and its viewpoints; Belém, with the monastery, the tower and the tart shop, sits about 6.5 km west along the river, so a tour that takes it in as well needs the longer end of the range. Tours run in English, Portuguese, French or Spanish.

The price is per tuk-tuk, not per person: from 130 euros on GetYourGuide on 7 November 2026, for a group of up to 4. Free cancellation runs to 24 hours before, and you can book up to 2 hours ahead. Monument tickets are not part of a tuk-tuk tour; if you want the inside of the Jerónimos Monastery, our guided Belém and Jerónimos Monastery tour (from 49.56 euros) covers it with a guide and the entry.

Why this one

Volume and the private format. On 7 November 2026 this was the most reviewed tuk-tuk tour of Lisbon on GetYourGuide by a wide margin: 4.9 from about 6,500 reviews, against 4.9 from about 770 for the Private City Sightseeing Tour by Tuk-Tuk, 4.8 from about 1,460 for the Private Tuk Tuk Tour of Old Town and Alfama, and 4.9 from about 660 for the Private Guided Tuk-Tuk Tour, which adds a stop for a local liqueur. Those three are priced per person, from 27, 27.50 and 75 euros, so read the basis before comparing: this one is 130 euros for the tuk-tuk, which is about 33 euros each for four and 65 euros each for two. For a couple on a short ride, the 27 euro per person tours can be cheaper; for a family of three or four who want hotel pickup and a guide to themselves, this is the one we would book. The Sightseeing Tuk-Tuk Tour with Hotel Pickup, at 26.69 euros per person, is shorter at 1.5 hours and rated lower, 4.6 from about 580.

A tuk-tuk is the overview, not the deep dive. For the inside of the Jerónimos Monastery, book our guided Belém and Jerónimos Monastery tour (from 49.56 euros); to eat your way through the Baixa on foot, our food and wine walking tour of the Baixa (from 70 euros); and for the river at golden hour, our Tagus sunset sail (from 34 euros). Our fado show with port, a 50-minute live show by the cathedral where Alfama begins, makes a good evening after an afternoon ride.

When to go

What the weather is like month by month in the old town, at the Portas do Sol viewpoint at 11:00, from Open-Meteo's historical weather for 2021 to 2025. The tuk-tuk is open at the sides under a canopy, so rain and cold are what you feel.

Temperature is the median at 11:00 at Portas do Sol (Lisbon time), with the coldest day in ten after it. Clear sky is the share of days with little cloud at 11:00; rainy days, the share with 1 mm of rain or more. Modelled from Open-Meteo history for 2021 to 2025.

Spring and autumn for the ride, summer for the views

In the data we looked at, it rained on 1 or 2% of days in July and August and the sky was clear at 11:00 on 72 to 79% of them, with a median of 26°C. From October to April a third of days had rain, and the median at 11:00 fell to 12.9°C in January. May and September sit in between: 21.4°C and 23.4°C, with rain on 9% and 19% of days.

From our Lisbon hotels

The tour collects you at your hotel, so these numbers are only a guide to how far each of our ten hotels is from the old town: times are routed on OpenStreetMap to Largo de Santo António da Sé, beside Lisbon Cathedral where Alfama begins, on foot from the hotels within about 25 minutes' walk and by car (taxi, no traffic) from the rest. The listing is sold as a private tour with hotel pickup in Lisbon, and all ten hotels are in central Lisbon, within 3.5 km of the Sé, so all are ticked; the operator does not publish a zone map, so give your hotel's name and address when you book. The nearest metro stations to the Sé are Baixa-Chiado (blue and green lines) and Terreiro do Paço (blue line).

Complaints

    The catch

    1. The price is for the tuk-tuk, not each person

GetYourGuide prices this tour per group of up to 4, from 130 euros on 7 November 2026. Rival tours that look cheaper at 27 euros are usually priced per person.

What to do. Work out the total for your party. For three or four people this is good value; for one or two, compare the per-person tours first.

    2. Belém needs the longer tour

Belém, with the monastery, the tower and the Pastéis de Belém tart shop in the listing's highlights, sits about 6.5 km west of the old town along the river.

What to do. Book 3 or 4 hours if you want the old town and Belém in one ride, and say so to the guide at the start.

    3. Some old-town lanes are closed to tuk-tuks

Since 1 April 2025 Lisbon City Council has barred tuk-tuks from 337 streets, mostly in the historic centre, and allows them to stop only in designated places.

What to do. Wear comfortable shoes: the guide may park at a stopping point and walk you a few minutes to a viewpoint or a lane.

    4. It is open to the weather

The tuk-tuk has a canopy but open sides. In the weather data we looked at, a third of days from October to April had rain, and the median at 11:00 in January was 12.9°C.

What to do. Bring a light jacket in winter and sunscreen and a hat from June to September.

    5. Monument tickets are separate

A tuk-tuk tour drives you to the sights and tells their story; it does not take you inside.

What to do. Pair it with our guided Belém and Jerónimos Monastery tour (from 49.56 euros) if the Jerónimos Monastery is high on your list.

    Questions people ask

Good questions about A private tuk-tuk tour of Lisbon with hotel pickup

How much is a private tuk-tuk tour in Lisbon?

This one cost from 130 euros on GetYourGuide on 7 November 2026, for the whole tuk-tuk and up to 4 people, with hotel pickup. That is about 33 euros each for four (32.50 euros); longer tours cost more.

Is the price per person or per tuk-tuk?

Per tuk-tuk. GetYourGuide prices this tour per group of up to 4: from 130 euros on 7 November 2026, about 33 euros each for four. Many rival tuk-tuk tours are priced per person, so compare the total for your party.

How long is a tuk-tuk tour of Lisbon?

This one runs 2 to 4 hours, the length you choose when you book. Two hours suits the old town and its viewpoints; Belém, about 6.5 km west along the river, needs a longer tour.

Does the tuk-tuk tour include hotel pickup?

Yes. The tour is listed with hotel pickup in Lisbon; give your hotel or apartment address when you book, at least 2 hours ahead.

Can tuk-tuks still drive in Lisbon's old town?

Yes, with limits. Lisbon City Council keeps tuk-tuks out of many streets in the historic centre (337 under the rules in force from 1 April 2025, as reported at the time) and lets them stop only in designated places, so some viewpoints are reached with a short walk from the stopping point.

Is a tuk-tuk tour good for children?

Yes. It is private, so the pace and stops are your family's, and the hills that tire children on foot are done by tuk-tuk. Ask the operator about child seats when you book.

Do you go inside the monuments on a tuk-tuk tour?

No. Entry to monuments is not part of a tuk-tuk tour. For the inside of the Jerónimos Monastery, a guided visit with entry is the better choice.

    The hills, by tuk-tuk

Your own tuk-tuk and driver-guide from your hotel door, for 2 to 4 hours of Lisbon's hills, viewpoints and old lanes, rated 4.9 from about 6,500 reviews. From 130 euros per tuk-tuk for up to 4 people, about 33 euros each for four, on 7 November 2026.
