Where to eat at and around Hotel Botánico & The Oriental Spa Garden

You are in the Botánico district, next to La Paz, on the slope above Puerto de la Cruz, with the Jardín Botánico as your neighbour and the town below you. The nearest restaurants are the tourist places of La Paz, two to five minutes' walk east, and one of them earns its place below; nothing else we would send you to is closer than Muxacho, 11 minutes on foot, and the old town is a 22-minute walk each way with a climb back. For everything else you need the hotel's free minibus, a taxi or a car, and every place is seven minutes or less by car. The hotel's three dinner restaurants each close two nights a week on a rota, so read the rota before you decide to stay in.

  • Da Arianna

    3 min walk

Neighbourhood Italian, fresh pasta daily · €

The one place on the La Paz blocks worth the three-minute walk: an Italian that its own site says makes fresh pasta every day, takes seasonal vegetables from local growers and bakes pizzas, open every day from 13:00 to 23:00 straight through. It is not a destination, it is the answer on the night the hotel's rota is against you and you do not want to wait for the minibus. Busy in the evening, so go early or expect a short wait.

  • Muxacho

    2 min by car

Creative Canarian kitchen, neighbourhood room · €€

The closest of our picks to the hotel, on the Carretera Botánico below the botanical garden, and walkable at a push: 11 minutes down, longer back up. Its own site describes creative cooking with the flavours of land and sea, and gives Wednesday 18:30 to midnight, Thursday to Sunday 12:30 to midnight with the kitchen until 23:00 and last reservation at 22:30, closed Monday and Tuesday. Book for the weekend.

  • Tito's Bodeguita

    3 min by car

Charcoal grill for aged northern beef · €€€

A grill house on a lane above the hotel in El Durazno, 14 minutes' walk uphill or three by car, which its own site describes as an Argentine-style charcoal grill burning heather wood, with beef bought mostly in Galicia and the Basque Country and aged a minimum of 30 days. Open every day from 12:30 to 23:00 with the kitchen running straight through, and no dress code, which after the hotel's long-trousers rule is part of the appeal. The steak on The Oriental's night off.

  • Cumai

    5 min by car

    Creative tasting-style cooking, couple-run · €€€

A small creative restaurant run by a couple, now inside the AluaSoul Orotava Valley hotel on the west side of town, five minutes by car. Its own site gives Wednesday to Saturday 19:00 to 21:00 and Sunday 13:00 to 15:00, closed Monday and Tuesday: a two-hour window, so booking is not optional. The published carta runs from jamón croquettes at 16 euros to grilled bone marrow with red prawn tartare at 34. Check the address on the site before you set off, because it moved into the hotel.

  • Régulo

    6 min by car

Old-town Spanish kitchen, lunch and dinner · €€

A Spanish restaurant on an old-town street near Plaza del Charco, six minutes by car or a 25-minute walk down. Its own site lists Tuesday to Saturday, 12:30 to 15:00 and 18:00 to 22:30, and nothing for Sunday or Monday, so treat those as closed. It is the ordinary, proper dinner in town for a night when you do not want a tasting menu or a steak, and the walk from here to the harbour front afterwards is the reason to leave the hotel at all.

  • One-star tasting menus in La Ranilla · €€€€

The only starred restaurant in Puerto de la Cruz, one Michelin star in the 2026 guide, on Calle San Felipe in La Ranilla, two minutes from Plaza del Charco and six by car from the hotel. Two tasting menus only, a short Sorpresa and a long Largo, built on Canarian produce. Its own site gives Tuesday to Friday 19:00 to 23:00, Saturday 13:00 to 15:00 and 19:00 to 23:00, closed Sunday and Monday. The Michelin listing has carried a temporary-closure note for refurbishment that the restaurant's own site does not, so telephone first.

  • American-style steakhouse over the sea · €€€

The steakhouse the hotel lists among its own restaurants, beside the entrance to Loro Parque at Punta Brava, seven minutes by car and in the Michelin guide without a distinction. Its own site makes the case on one piece of kit, a Southbend oven it calls the only one in the Canaries, searing the meat at 800 degrees, with Galician rubia T-bone and Chateaubriand on the list. Hours on the site are every day 13:00 to 15:30 and 19:00 to 23:00; the hotel's page calls it a rota, so confirm.

Breakfast

Breakfast is a buffet in Palmera Real, the poolside restaurant, from 07:30 to 10:30 Monday to Friday and until 11:00 at weekends, and the hotel sells more than one board, so check that your rate includes it before you assume. The FAQ prices a Botanical Buffet Breakfast pass for outside visitors at 45 euros a person, which tells you what the hotel thinks it is worth. Guests consistently rate it as the best meal of the day here. Some room descriptions, including the Superior Deluxe Teide View, mention a continental breakfast served on the terrace; check what your rate includes. The nearest alternative inside the hotel is the Bar Hall, open from 09:00 for coffee; outside it, the cafés of La Paz are a few minutes' walk east.

What to skip

The terrace restaurants along the seafront promenade and around the Lago Martiánez, where the menus come with photographs and the prices assume you will not be back. You will have paid for the minibus down and the taxi up to eat worse than the hotel would have fed you. Everything above is two to seven minutes by car.
