Fuerteventura is the Canaries' island of beaches, and they are not all the same beach. On the Jandía coast in the south the sand is long and the water calm: Morro Jable beach alone runs 4,325 metres from Las Gaviotas to the town, with lifeguards. At Sotavento a sandbar holds a shallow tidal lagoon, and the trade wind makes it the island's windsurf and kite coast. In the north, the Grandes Playas run for nine kilometres beside the Corralejo dunes. Every beach in Spain is public, so no hotel here owns its sand; what you choose is how close you sleep to it and how you get down.
Pick the coast first. For calm water and long walks, take one of the three on the Jandía coast. For the lagoon, the boards and a kids' club, take Sotavento. For a town and the boat to Lobos, take Corralejo.
Iberostar Selection Fuerteventura Palace stands at Las Gaviotas, on the slope above Playa del Matorral, where Morro Jable beach begins: 4,325 metres of sand to the town, with calm water and lifeguards. Three direct ways lead down from the grounds, one of them a wooden stair that lands on the sand. In front of the western pools lies the Saladar de Jandía, the only Ramsar wetland in the Canaries, with the sand and the sea beyond it.
Above the sand there are four pools, one of them indoor and heated, and guests aged 15 and over in Star Prestige have a private pool and sun terrace with Balinese beds as well. Every room was renovated before the hotel reopened in September 2025, and outdoor parking is free.

Sea-View Double
about 32 m²€435 a night
A terrace that faces the sea over Playa del Matorral, for the same 32 m² as the entry Double, which looks inland to the mountains.
Paradisus by Meliá Fuerteventura stands on Playa de la Barca, the northern end of Sotavento's nine kilometres of sand, and its gardens lead down to the beach by a ramp and steps. Behind a sandbar a shallow tidal lagoon fills in front of the hotel around each full and new moon, for a few hours around the daytime high tide, on about half the days of the year. It is also where the René Egli school teaches beginners on boards.
The pools make up the rest of the beach day: a heated saltwater pool shaped like a lake, a second, tropical one, and a children's pool with slides, and the hotel adds a kids' club and a playground. Sotavento is the island's windsurf and kite beach, and the wind reaches the pools too.

Premium Room Ocean Front
about 44 m²
At about 44 m² it is a little larger than the entry room, and its terrace faces straight out to the Atlantic.
Hotel Riu Palace Jandia steps down the slope above the western end of Playa del Matorral, and its own steps lead to the seafront promenade and the sand. From there the beach runs east past the Morro Jable lighthouse and the Saladar de Jandía, and the centre of Morro Jable is 12 minutes' walk the other way.
The pool, heated in winter, and its sun deck look out to sea, and the 2020 renovation enlarged that deck with room for about 100 more loungers. Every room is sold with a balcony or terrace and a sea view, full or at an angle, and half board means dinner is waiting when you come up from the beach. Most dates need five nights or more, which suits a week on the sand.

Double Room with sea view
about 42 m²€289 a night
It faces the beach rather than looking at it from an angle, with a 200 cm king-size bed instead of the entry room's two singles.
ZEL Fuerteventura, for adults 16 and over, stands on Playa Barca at the northern end of the Sotavento beaches. The sand is 4 minutes on foot through the palm garden, at the René Egli centre, where a World Cup has been held on this beach since 1986. The school teaches kitesurfing, windsurfing and wing foiling on the shallow tidal lagoon, more than 4 km long, which fills around the full and new moons.
Back at the hotel, the heated infinity pool faces the Atlantic, and Parda Beach serves on the sand. This is the beach for anyone who wants the wind: Sotavento is a strong-wind spot all year, at its windiest in summer, and calmest from October to January.

Zel Ocean View
about 48 m²€243 a night
The same 48 m² as the entry Zel Room, but its terrace faces the Atlantic rather than the gardens.
Royal Palm Resort & Spa, for adults 16 and over, runs down from the road to Playa de Esquinzo, 3 km of fine sand on the Jandía coast. From the lowest terrace a gate for guests opens onto a short paved path and ten steps with a handrail to the beach, with no road to cross. There is no step-free way down, so anyone who finds steps hard should plan on the pools.
Those pools are generous: the 941 m² Salina, and the heated Vulcano on the lowest terrace with the sea in front of it and the Lipari bar beside it. Indoors, the heated Stromboli pool is free to every guest from 08:00 to 20:00. Sun loungers around the pools are free, and Bali beds cost from €50.

Secrets Bahía Real Resort & Spa, for adults 16 and over, stands on the shore above Playa de las Agujas, 3 minutes from the rooms: a public cove of fine golden sand with volcanic rock and lava shelves at the water's edge. So the swimming happens mostly in the two large pools in the tropical gardens, and the long white sand is close by. Playa del Pozo, the first of the Grandes Playas, with sunbed hire, is 18 minutes south on foot, and the open dune beaches at Playa del Moro are 10 minutes by car. The Corralejo Dunes Natural Park begins about 100 metres to the south, across the road.
It is the north's grown-up choice for a beach week, with the sea towards Lobos and Lanzarote.

The best things to do in Fuerteventura, hand-picked
Hand-picked: only the best, one version of each, researched so you don’t have to.
Only around each full and new moon, for a few hours around the daytime high tide, on about half the days of the year. A sandbar holds the water back, and it is usually under a metre deep. It fills in front of Paradisus by Meliá Fuerteventura and along the beach at ZEL Fuerteventura, and it is the René Egli school's teaching water, so you share it with learners on boards. The school publishes a lagoon timetable for each year: check it before you choose your dates.
Which beach hotels in Fuerteventura are adults-only?
Playa de las Agujas, 3 minutes from the rooms, has fine golden sand at the back but volcanic rock and lava shelves where you walk into the sea, most of all at low tide. Water shoes help. Most guests swim in the two large pools in the gardens. For a long sandy day, Playa del Pozo, the first of the Grandes Playas beside the Corralejo dunes, is 18 minutes south on foot, and the open dune beaches at Playa del Moro are 10 minutes by car.
How did you choose these hotels?
Independently, through extensive research, trusted sources and first-hand visits. Hotels cannot pay to be included, and every one of the ten has to exist for a different reason.
