The catch at Hotel Fariones
Five things stand between the photographs and the stay. None of them is hidden, and none of them spoils a week on Playa Grande, but each one shapes the booking: how long you stay, which room you take, when you come and how you arrive.

Most rooms need four nights or more, and the entry room needs seven in May and June
Minimum stays apply for most of the year. From January to June 2027 every room below the Ocean Suite sells only for four nights or more, and the entry Double Superior Sea View needs seven in May and June; in September and October the four-night rule holds for the rooms below the Junior Suite Relax Sea View. For two nights in June 2027 the only rooms on sale were the Ocean Suite, from €650 a night for two with breakfast, the Grand Suite Fariones and the Royal Suite Fariones. July and August are the exception: every room could be booked for two nights. The entry room's €296 a night is the rate for a seven-night stay from Tuesday 8 June 2027; for four nights the cheapest room is the Double Superior sea view High Floor, at €340.
What to do. Plan on a week, which is what the hotel is built for. If you only have two or three nights, come in July or August, or price the Ocean Suite rather than the entry room.
Every room below the Grand Suite is made up with two single beds
From the entry Double Superior Sea View up to the Ocean Suite, every room the hotel sells is made up with two single beds, 110 cm wide, the Junior Suite Relax Sea View and the 80 m² Ocean Suite included. The first king-size bed comes with the Grand Suite Fariones, 90 to 100 m² with two bedrooms, at €1,056 a night for two on a June night, and the Royal Suite Fariones, of which there is one. For two friends sharing, the twin layout suits well; for a couple it is worth knowing before booking.
What to do. If one bed matters, ask the hotel before booking how the beds can be made up for your dates. If it has to be a king, the Grand Suite Fariones is the first room that has one.
The rooftop is kept for the suites, and the loungers by the main pool go early
The rooftop terrace and its pool, looking across to Fuerteventura and Lobos, are a privilege of the Junior Suite Relax Sea View and every suite above it, with an à la carte breakfast in the room. Guests in the Double Superior and the Junior Suite Sea View use the infinity pool among the palms, in front of La Barra's terrace, and the small sandy cove and Playa Grande a minute from the door. Loungers around the main pool being held early with towels is a recurring complaint from guests in the standard rooms.
What to do. If pool days matter more than beach days, book the Junior Suite Relax Sea View, which brings the rooftop and its own jacuzzi on the terrace. Otherwise go down to the sand early; Spanish beaches are public, and Playa Grande runs east for about a kilometre.
It is a winter-sun hotel, priced highest from November to Easter
The cheapest room for two with breakfast, per night of a week's stay, was €296 from 8 June 2027, €329 in mid-July, €353 in mid-August and €350 in mid-September. Winter costs far more: €441 in mid-January, €446 to €498 in February, €515 in late November and €549 in Holy Week. Christmas books up early: in mid-October 2026 the week from 22 December had only the Royal Suite left, and the week from 27 December nothing at all. Half board adds about €99 a night for two, with dinner from the buffet at Bella Lucía; the à la carte restaurants and drinks are extra.
What to do. Come in May or June for the lowest rates. For January, February or Easter, book early and budget for half again June's price; for Christmas, book as soon as the dates open.
The hotel lists no car park, and parking nearby is hard to find
No car park is listed for the hotel, and finding a space in the streets around the point and the old harbour is a recurring complaint from guests who arrive by car. The hotel is built for life on foot: Playa Grande is a minute from the door, El Varadero's fish restaurants nine minutes along the front, and line 161, between the airport and Playa Blanca, stops at Apartamentos Caletón Blanco, three minutes' walk away. The airport is 13 minutes by taxi off-peak.
What to do. Take a taxi from the airport and hire a car only for the days you plan to explore Timanfaya or the north. Ask the hotel about parking before you arrive if you will have a car all week.
Who should skip it
Anyone hoping for a weekend outside July and August, since most rooms need four nights for most of the year and the entry room seven in May and June. Couples who must have a double bed but will not pay for the Grand Suite. Families looking for a kids' club, which the hotel does not have, and anyone who wants a car parked at the door all week.
Who should book it anyway
Couples and two friends who want a week on the sand in Puerto del Carmen, in the hotel where Lanzarote's beach holidays began. Every room faces the sea from its own terrace, Playa Grande starts a minute from the door, the infinity pool sits among palms more than forty years old, Kaori serves Víctor Planas's pan-Asian cooking in the evening and the old harbour's fish restaurants are nine minutes along the front. Book the Junior Suite Relax Sea View for four nights or more, come in May or June, and every catch is answered.
