The catch at Princesa Yaiza Suite Hotel Resort

Five things stand between the photographs and the stay. None of them is hidden, and none outweighs a resort of 65 m² suites on a calm, sheltered beach with a 10,000 m² children's park and a seawater thalasso, but each one decides whether it suits you.

On our shortlists

  1. With 385 rooms, the loungers by the main pools go early, and the beach is a busy town beach

Princesa Yaiza has 385 rooms on 55,000 m² of gardens and buildings, and six outdoor pools, including the children's pools in Capitan Park and a pool area of its own at the Family Suite annex. Loungers by the main pools are claimed early with towels. The garden gate opens onto Playa Dorada, which is a public town beach: 350 m of fine white sand but only about 15 m wide, sheltered by a curve of rock that keeps the water calm, with sunbeds and parasols for hire, and it fills up.

What to do. Go down early if one pool matters to you, or take the beach early and the pools in the afternoon. In a Family Suite, the annex has a pool area of its own.

  2. Most rooms need four nights, and the entry double needs seven in June

Every category from the Double Superior Sea View to the Duplex carried a four-night minimum on the dates sampled from November 2026 to October 2027, except in July and August, when the Double Superior Sea View and the Junior Suite Sea View were also on sale for two nights. For Tuesday 8 June 2027 the entry Double Superior and the Suite Excellence Sea View need seven nights. Otherwise only the Presidential Suites and the Royal Suite sell two-night stays, from €899 a night with breakfast. Over New Year the rule tightens: from 27 December 2026 no four-night stay was on sale, and a week to 3 January was the shortest stay offered.

What to do. Plan on a week, which is what the hotel is built for. If you want the Double Superior in June, book it for seven nights; for a shorter stay, a Suite for four nights costs less than the Double Superior on the same June dates.

  3. The supervised clubs stop at 13, and much of the children's programme is charged

Capitan Park is a 10,000 m² open-air space for children up to 16, but its supervised clubs run from four months to 13: Ocean Bubble from birth to three, Starfish from three to five, Sea Explorers from six to eight and Guardians of the Sea from nine to 13, and not every club opens in low season. A 14 or 15-year-old has the courts and pools rather than a club. Workshops for ages three to 12 cost from €10 and are booked at the Infocenter; Dream Camp, for four to 13-year-olds, runs on set evenings from 17:00 to 21:30 at €75; and the Soccer School for ages five to 16 runs only in some weeks (in 2026, from 11 October to 5 November), €40 for two mornings to €80 for four.

What to do. Ask which age clubs will be open on your dates before you book, and book workshops and Dream Camp at the Infocenter as soon as you arrive.

  4. Half board leaves out the à la carte restaurants, and the thalasso circuit is extra on short stays

Every rate includes breakfast, and half board adds dinner at the buffets: Yaiza, the main buffet, with a different theme each night, or La Hacienda or Piazzeta in some periods. Drinks and the à la carte restaurants are not included, though half board brings a credit of €25 per adult and €12.50 per child towards dinner at Isla de Lobos or Kampai. On the Suite in June half board added €99 a night for two. The 34°C seawater circuit in the 2,000 m² thalasso is for over-16s; it is included once per person on stays of seven nights or more, daily in the Relax rooms and the Royal Suite, and otherwise booked and paid at the spa. The adults-only à la carte breakfast at Isla de Lobos is €15 a head.

What to do. On a stay of seven nights or more, one circuit each comes with the room. If you take half board, spend the credit at Isla de Lobos, open Tuesday to Saturday, and book a table early in the stay.

  5. New Year and Easter cost about twice the June rate

The cheapest room with breakfast, for two, was €231 a night on a four-night stay from Tuesday 8 June 2027, the same as from 11 May. On 20 April it was €257, on 10 August €266 and on 12 October €248. Winter costs more: €284 a night from 12 January, €320 from 16 February and €322 from 17 November 2026. Holy Week, from 23 March 2027, was €445 a night, and the week from 27 December 2026 to 3 January cost about €497 a night, more than twice the June rate, with seven nights the shortest stay on sale.

What to do. Come in May or June for the lowest rates. For winter sun, January was the cheapest of the winter dates; for New Year and Easter, book early and plan on a full week.

Who should skip it

Anyone with fewer than four nights outside July and August, anyone travelling with teenagers who want a club of their own, and anyone who wants a quiet, small hotel or a lounger without an early start.

Who should book it anyway

Families with children up to 13 who want a week of winter or early summer sun without moving the car. The suites are the reason: 65 m² with a separate living room, two sofa beds, a bath and a shower, and a terrace, for €231 a night with breakfast in June. The garden gate opens onto Playa Dorada's calm water, Capitan Park keeps children busy from babies to 13, and the parents get a 2,000 m² seawater thalasso and dinner on the Isla de Lobos terrace looking across to Lobos and Fuerteventura. Book a Suite Sea View for a week in May or June.

Car hire in Lanzarote

Playa Dorada is at the garden gate and town bus 30 stops two minutes away, but the island's sights are 30 to 70 minutes' drive north, so hire for the days out; the Papagayo beaches are 12 to 15 minutes by car, and the hotel publishes nothing on parking, so ask before you arrive.
