What we looked for

The island's cooking runs on its own produce, from gofio, goat and cherne to millo and prickly pear, and each of our three keeps a kitchen worth the trip inside the hotel, in a different part of the island. Santa Catalina, a Royal Hideaway Hotel, is the city choice, in the palm park of Ciudad Jardín in Las Palmas. Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia is the south's, in the Maspalomas palm grove. Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa is at the western end of the south coast, behind the village of Puerto de Mogán.

Plan by the days of the week. Poemas serves dinner from Tuesday to Saturday and Muxgo is closed on Monday and Tuesday, so on a Monday neither opens; Los Guayres also serves from Tuesday to Saturday. The Residencia's restaurant takes its guests without a booking, Sunday and Monday included. Read the board too: Santa Catalina is sold room only, the other two include breakfast, and half board at Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa means the buffet, not Los Guayres.

Santa Catalina, a Royal Hideaway Hotel

Las Palmas, Ciudad Jardín, Gran Canaria

Santa Catalina is the only hotel on Gran Canaria with two MICHELIN-starred restaurants in the 2026 guide, and MICHELIN gives the hotel itself one Key. Poemas by Hermanos Padrón carries the name of the Tenerife brothers whose El Rincón de Juan Carlos holds two stars; Adrián García, who trained under them, cooks their sea-led tasting menus in a classical, wood-lined dining room. Muxgo is Borja Marrero's room: two tasting menus and an executive menu at weekday lunch, drawn from his farm up in Tejeda, which has kitchen gardens, livestock and a cheese dairy, and from Canarian produce such as millo and prickly pear.

Between the two, 1890 La Bodeguita serves tapas and island wines every day, afternoon tea comes in a wood-panelled salon, and Sundays bring a jazz brunch on the Doramas terrace. Both starred rooms take non-residents too, so book your tables when you book the room.

Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia

Maspalomas, Gran Canaria

At Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia, dinner is a reason to stay in. Wolfgang Grobauer, who cooked to MICHELIN stars in Hamburg and Corsica, has run this kitchen since 2011, and the restaurant holds a Repsol Sol. The cooking is light and French at heart, with island produce where it counts: figs and guavas from the Montaña La Data finca, beside Galician turbot with lobster sauce or Black Angus with truffle. Guests come down without booking and eat on the terrace over the palm-lined pool or in the tiled dining room, and on Wednesdays and Sundays dinner is a barbecue buffet.

The day starts on the same raised terrace, with a breakfast buffet looking over the pool and the villas to the mountains, and it ends on the Piano Bar terrace, with live music until 11pm. MICHELIN gives the hotel one Key.

Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa

Puerto de Mogán, Gran Canaria

Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa is a family resort with a MICHELIN-starred restaurant in its gardens. Los Guayres, first starred in the 2020 guide, is Ruymán González's kitchen: three Canarian tasting menus built on island produce, gofio, goat and cherne among it, and its terrace, built in the manner of a Canarian balcony, looks over the hotel's gardens. It serves dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, from 6.30pm, and takes non-residents, so book ahead.

The other nights belong to Puerto de Mogán. From the garden gate, the beach-front terraces, El Varadero de Mogán's fish terrace among them, are four minutes on foot and the marina eight or nine, with Qué Tal by Stena's eight-course tasting menu among its tables. The hotel's own dinner is a buffet in two fixed sittings, so a bed-and-breakfast rate leaves every evening free for Los Guayres and the port.

Questions people ask

Good questions about Gran Canaria

Which hotels in Gran Canaria have a MICHELIN-starred restaurant?

Of our ten, two. Santa Catalina, a Royal Hideaway Hotel, in Las Palmas, is the only hotel on the island with two restaurants starred in the 2026 guide: Poemas by Hermanos Padrón, where Adrián García cooks, and Borja Marrero's Muxgo. Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa, in Puerto de Mogán, has Los Guayres, with one star, where Ruymán González cooks Canarian tasting menus. In Maspalomas, the restaurant at Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia holds a Repsol Sol, and the hotel holds one MICHELIN Key.

When are Poemas and Muxgo open?

Poemas by Hermanos Padrón serves dinner only, from Tuesday to Saturday, and closes from 2 August to 1 September. Muxgo is closed on Monday and Tuesday, serves lunch and dinner from October to May, dinner only in August and September, and publishes no hours for June and July, so contact it before planning a summer stay around it. On a Monday neither opens, but 1890 La Bodeguita, also at Santa Catalina, a Royal Hideaway Hotel, serves tapas and island wines every day.

Can non-residents eat at these hotel restaurants?

Yes. Poemas and Muxgo at Santa Catalina, a Royal Hideaway Hotel, and Los Guayres at Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa are all open to non-residents, and all three are worth booking ahead. Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia keeps its tables for its own guests first, who come without booking; outsiders are taken when there is room, so ring ahead. A stay at one can take in dinner at another: from the Residencia, Puerto de Mogán is 26 minutes by car, off-peak.

Is breakfast included at these hotels?

At two of the three. Santa Catalina, a Royal Hideaway Hotel, is sold room only, from about €170 a night, and its breakfast buffet in Doramas is extra, though guests rate it highly. Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia, from about €505, and Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa, from about €190, include breakfast, and both sell half board. At Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa that means the buffet dinner, so keep Los Guayres for a night you pay for separately.

Is there a dress code at the restaurants?

Yes, at all of them. Poemas asks for formal dress, and Muxgo for long trousers and closed shoes for men. At Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia men need long trousers and closed shoes at dinner, with no shorts, and Los Guayres asks men for long trousers. At Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa the buffet has a code too: closed shoes, long trousers or a long skirt, and no sleeveless shirts. Pack long trousers and closed shoes, whichever you choose.

How did you choose these hotels?

Independently, through extensive research, trusted sources and first-hand visits. Hotels cannot pay to be included, and every one of the ten has to exist for a different reason.
